Today [November 05 2007] an unofficial foundation was started on the thread titled Season 2 Ending Early? (Urgent!)-Writers Strike!
Its called "1000 cranes for Heroes," and our goal is to fold 1000 cranes all together and send them to the executives at AMPTP.
This is NOT to attempt to bring back the full length season. Instead, this is about supporting our writers and showing the WGA and AMPTP how important this show is to us.

Those who would like to participate, please post that you would like to. You will be added to the list. This is a list of those participating. I am going to use it to count how many cranes people have done, and who has done what for this project. DO NOT SIGN UP UNLESS YOU INTEND TO HELP! thank you! Everyone can do something to help. What are you guys doing?
Ok, so here's our basic goal, everyone who joins is going to be folding as many cranes as they would like, then putting in a generic letter [yet to be written] along with a personal letter [their choice] and sending it to the writers. Simple as that!

Are they going to be sent seperatley or together?
It was decided that it would be better if they were sent seperatley by everyone the world over.

What if I suck at folding cranes?
everyone sucks at everything when they start off. Try your hardest, and if they don't come out perfect, don't sweat it! ITS THE EFFORT THAT COUNTS

I don't have time to fold cranes, but I would like to help. What can I do?
-Post on any other forums? Use on of the signatures made here to show off our campaign. Tell your friends and family! Pass the word along!
-Heard any good information? post it here, it can be helpful to us!
-Know how to do graphics? We are in desperate need of graphics, so if you now how to work that photoshop, you are NEEDED!

Please accept these origami cranes as a token of our support for the writers, as well as the cast and crew, who have worked so hard to create this series for us. This is a collective effort put forth by fans with the goal of sending a minimum of 1000 cranes.

This project came together as the result of Heroes fans from all over the internet uniting to show our support. The vast online community this show has generated allows us to connect with fans from around the world. We believe that "Heroes" is a prime example of how the internet is increasingly affecting the way we experience our favorite television shows. Because of this, we feel that the writers are justified in their demands to share in any profits from the sale of internet downloads, as well as DVDs and any other new media. It is the writers, after all, who give us the characters and stories we tune in for; and it was a story from "Heroes" that inspired us to send these cranes.

In the episode "Six Months Ago," the character Hiro Nakamura folded 1000 origami cranes in the hope of being granted one wish. As fans of the show, we have spent time and patience in the folding of these cranes to symbolize our hope for the future of "Heroes" and all the other shows and films we love. Our wish is simple: that the writers' demands to be fairly paid for their contributions will be met, so that they can return to their work and continue to entertain us with their stories.

One thing, though: When writing your personal letters, do not mention this site. I've come to the realization that we provide the downloads that these writers are striking to be paid for. It just wouldn't be right

I'll give it a go but don't put me down on the List straight away as I need to work on my crane folding. Also, I'm in the UK so it might be worth folding a few to justify the airmail
