DIGG THIS TOPIC
learn more about the strike at wga.org So we all heard about the potential strike from the Writer's Guild of America, well as of last night (nov. 04), it was confirmed the writers' are definitely on strike, which will affect (if not all) most television shows for the rest of the season, including Heroes. The set of Heroes has already produced their alternative Episode 11 (December 03) episode in the case of the strike; which has occurred, so we will be seeing the end of Heroes for Season 2 in less than a month unfortunately...unless they settle this all before then. Well, it's happening. The Writer's Guild of America, the union to which pretty much all Hollywood screenwriters belong, is on strike as of last night. As of this morning, no scripts are being written, current affairs comedy shows have come to a standstill and US TV is up the creek without a paddle. Hollywood may have been stocking up on scripts - but right now, no one is around to do rewrites. http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=21396 ------------------------- Prior Stories Article about the Writer's Strike Here: http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2007/11/strike-its-a-re.html Less than 12 hours after their contract expired at midnight on Oct. 31, some 2,000-plus writers assembled in the Los Angeles Convention Center to hear union leaders declare that a strike will occur; the only question now is when. Many believe the picket lines could begin forming as early as this afternoon (at least, that's what some New York-based scribes were led to believe based on an earlier meeting), but the common wisdom is that the Writers Guild of America will inform writers to start waving the placards Monday morning, unless, of course, an 11th-hour deal is hammered out over the weekend. Strike Fallout: Heroes Prepping Season Finale! Heroes Affect To The Strike Article: http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TV...eroes/800026358 Heroes' second season may be coming to a close a lot sooner than expected due to the forthcoming apocalypse, also known in some circles as the d*** writers' strike. Sources confirm that the show is going back and shooting an alternate ending to the Dec. 3 episode that, if used, would allow the episode to function as a season finale in the event of a strike. Originally, the episode was only supposed to serve as the conclusion of the current "Generations" arc. Should an 11th-hour agreement be reached and a strike averted (fingers crossed!), the alt ending would likely be scrapped. -------------------- Do NOT ask when downloads are posted: You can read that here!

So Heroes will stop after ep11? or just season 2 and season 3 will begin when the strike is over? to my understanding, and for most other television shows as well...but in the case of heroes, it will end after episode 11 . then season 3 will begin NEXT fall. IF the writers get what they want within the next couple weeks then they will continue writing, but at this rate, it seems the writers' are putting up a big fight. -------------------- Do NOT ask when downloads are posted: You can read that here!

I found it incredibly hard to locate the basic underline on the argument and strike purpose, but I got it. If you want the gist of things, here is the article:
Why the strike is happening. -------------------- ![]() 10/8/07 "Episode 3 was such an amazing episode, that I've completely forgotten about 1 and 2 of this season. Now THIS is the Heroes I fell in love with." :::::WHY THE STRIKE IS HAPPENING:::::: What wusses. They make $37,000 A YEAR!! They should stop being greedy and appreciate the fact they get $3,083.00 a month. Go sit in your Ferrari or Mercedes while you go back to writing my 'Heroes.' |

Wait wait wait...... tell me this only effects TV shows and NOT movies too.... totaly not shitting you i won a contest to get a theater to myself + 50 friends to see any movie playing in theaters some time before june and if this F's that up I'm gona be one sad panda = ( not that im not already a sad panda about it screwing heroes but ahhhh! this sucks >_< My understanding is that it technically affects the movie industry, but that since any film coming out over the next few months has already been scripted (even filmed), it will only do major damage to the movie industry if the strike goes on for an extended period of time. |
