The Setup

The Town of Gleeson Arizona was established and founded in 1889, deemed valuable due to its outstanding strategic location, access to a copper, lead, silver and zinc mine and an ample private fund donated by an unknown source.

The town subsequently grew into a teeming suburb, offering jobs, money and housing for a few thousand.

A rail station was built, therefore increasing the wealth and potential of this town by tenfold.

Industry flocked and grew within this town, making it a rock among the urban areas surrounding it. It was the most faultless place to be.

Several years later in 1893, a number of factors led to the destruction of the town literally and economically.

Primarily, the town became ridden with bandits, highwaymen and corrupt members of the law enforcement, bank and service industries.

The people of the town fled, decreasing the population greatly and destroying businesses within the town steadily.

Finally, violence broke out, pouring into the streets and in the homes, an endless fray that consumed the town in small feuds and hatred, essentially sending a last, devastating blow to the people of the town.

Now Gleeson lays in ruin, most of the townsfolk have disappeared, all that remains are those few who dare to stay within the boundaries of a town that was consumed by dishonesty, detestation and death.

What was opportunity and happiness is now a dead end of despair.

Welcome to Gleeson, population 100.

When demolishing, we are able to wipe the slate clean, to extinction.

Chapter One: Extinction
Present Day, Night
Primatech Paper, Odessa Texas, Sub-Level Vault “Classified”

IC: Hiro Nakamura & Adam Monroe

Adam searched through the vault’s inventory, hoping to find the strand of virus he so craved. Destruction of humanity was his only purpose now, civilization called for extinction and he was to deliver it. Suddenly, a voice addressed him from behind in Japanese. Hiro Nakamura had entered the vault.

"*Kensai. You were my friend.*" He said, unarmed but determined to stop this madman.

Responding in English, Adam said "You were more than a friend to me, you were my inspiration. I was a rudderless drunk and then you came along and taught me to be a hero."

Solemnly, Hero replied, "*Only to have you become a Villain.*"

Adam drew his sword, directing its point at Hiro’s abdomen.

"*I learned that from you.*" Adam continued, returning to the language he’d not forgotten for over centuries.

Resuming his maniacal speech in English, Kensai declared: “Famine, disease, four hundred years later, nothing has changed. God wasn't happy with what he had made; he made it rain for forty days and forty nights. He just washed it all away. He had the right idea, because when this virus is released, those of us who are left will be granted a second chance and I'll be there Hiro."

Stubbornly, Hiro replied "*You are not God.*"

"Really?!" Adam cried, drawing closer to Hiro, "I have lived for four hundred years, who is to say I will not live four hundred more?"

Hiro mutters, making sure that Adam can hear every word. "*I should have killed you long ago. And I should kill you now. For my Father.*"

Suddenly moving, both them act swiftly, Kensai drops the vial he has hidden behind his back and Hiro puts his hand on Adam’s shoulder, teleporting the pair away.

Chapter One: Extinction
1893, Day One: Afternoon
Gleeson, Arizona, Town Centre

IC: Hiro Nakamura & Adam Monroe

The dirt encrusted central road of Gleeson was deserted, not a single soul dared to stir on this cursed street. The two figures appeared from thin air, in the dead centre of this empty scene. Both Hiro and Kensai took in the scene around them; it was obvious that neither of these people had pictured the old west to be exactly like they'd thought of it in their minds.

Adam was the first to assess the situation and take action. Raising the sword to Hiro’s neck, Hiro froze.

"*It is a shame that it shall end like this old friend.*" whispered Adam, who began a slicing motion aimed at Hiro's throat.

A shot rang out, hitting Adam square in the stomach, making him crumple to the ground. Before anything else could happen, Hiro grabbed the sword and teleported away, missing a second bullet by a nanosecond. Adam was left there to wrench the bullet out of his bloodied body when the person that had evidently shot those rounds came stalking up the path to where Kensai lay.

The voice rang out ostentatiously and in an extremely annoying tone.

"Yeehaw!" He cried, "Lookit what we have here!"

Adam looked up at the figure, but due to the bright light of the sun, could not make him out. Nevertheless, he questioned this shooter's motivation and name.

"Who the h*** are you and why in God's name did you shoot me?" Adam whimpered, obviously hurt.

"I’m Sherriff Valentine, head of this beloved town of Gleeson and as far as you are concerned, I am God!" replied Valentine tauntingly.

At this point, Adam had fully healed and was getting to his feet.

"Wowee!" continued Valentine, tipping his hat with his revolver in disbelief.

Adam was fed up with this imbecile, just another fool on the pages of history, unworthy and unwanted. Clenching his fist, Adam swung for a punch, but missed. The Sherriff had ducked most graciously and flawlessly out of the way. Again, Adam hopelessly went in for another strike, but yet again the blow had not met its target.

Sighing at the new arrival, Valentine waited for one more attempt to hit him. Adam swayed clumsily for the last time. Tilting his hat one more time with is pistol, Kensai saw that on one side of the revolver was the sign of Kensai engraved upon it.

"Godsend" Adam uttered.

"Yew bet’cher a**!" Valentine said, laughing.

And with that, Valentine flipped his revolver, hitting Adam clean across the face, knocking him out in one.

Chapter One: Extinction
1893, Day One: Afternoon
Gleeson, Arizona, Outskirts

IC: Hiro Nakamura

Hiro had teleported to the outskirts of town, landing in a small patch of dust. Rising, he took in his surroundings. He had no idea where he was.

"*Where am I?*" he murmured to himself.

Turning around, he realised the foolishness of his question. The answer was right in front of his eyes. Reading the sign slowly, it said.

Chapter One: Extinction
1893, Day One: Afternoon

Gleeson, Arizona, Outskirts
IC: Benjamin Donal

Benjamin Donal glanced out along the vast spread of desert, and cacti, to a small town in the distance; sitting forward on his saddle, the leather creaking under him. He squinted his eyes as the sun beat down upon the brim of his hat. A smile crept upon his sun cracked lips, blue eyes shining. Turning his head to the side, he spat.

“The town of Gleeson; population 100; deserted save all for a few. What do you think Darla?” He asked, looking down at his lovely horse. She whinnied in response. “Yea, me too” he grinned. “A prime area for prime bandits for prime opportunities to make some money.”

Just as he uttered those words, a trail of dust could be seen leaving the town. Shifting in his seat he could make out the shouts of men as they rode away. He smirked as he leaned back. “Speak of the devils” he grinned as the sun reflected off of the cross that dangled from his neck.

“Tell me Darla, how you feel about doing some of the Lord’s work?” he asked. She reared up in response, whinnying loudly. He took the reins of his horse, turning her from the cliffs on which they stood, making noises with his mouth. She did as she was told, taking him back down the hill.

“That’s what I’m talking about. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” He shouted as he broke her into a trot, then run, then gallop as he made his way to intercept them.

He got to about mid way when he slowed her down to a complete halt. He lifted his arms up and, gazing straight at the men coming towards him, getting closer by the second, he spoke in a deep voice.

---
Then the LORD said to Moses, "Tell Aaron, 'Stretch out your staff and strike the dust of the ground,' and throughout the land of Egypt the dust will become gnats." They did this, and when Aaron stretched out his hand with the staff and struck the dust of the ground, gnats came upon men and animals. All the dust throughout the land of Egypt became gnats. But when the magicians tried to produce gnats by their secret arts, they could not. And the gnats were on men and animals.
---

Towards the end of his recitation, Ben brought his hands forward with a mighty clap. He grinned widely as the dust kicked up from the horses became black as it turned to gnats, which in turn, began to stick to the men riding in them.

Ben could hear the frightful screams as the men became covered of the tiny insects. Laughing mischievously, Ben spurred his horse forward to finish off the job.

Chapter One: Extinction
1893, Day One: Afternoon
Gleeson, Arizona, Center of Town: Mick Conroy's House
IC: Mick Conroy

The gunshot could be heard from that distance, but it didn't bother Mick. He was used to hearing gunshots around these parts now, considering what had happened over the past couple days and weeks. He walked away from his window, as he turned and made his way towards his own personal library of books. He grabbed an old one on prospecting off the shelve, and opened it up, laughing slightly at a few of the details he read.

"Bunch of useless bollocks." Mick muttered, as he focused his energy and watched as the book shrank down to the size of a small coin. He put the book back on the shelve anyways, figured if someone saw it they would think it was some kind of joke, then walked out of the library and over to his kitchen.

Sharon was in there, cooking.

"Mornin' mister Conroy, 'fraid dinner won't be up for some time now baby." Sharon said, as Mick walked into the kitchen and nodded.

His years of prospecting, not to mention his ability, had played a nice factor in allowing him to hire people who did things for him. It wasn't back like in the old days apparently, where he could have just bought Sharon and never had to pay her another dime...He didn't mind though, he had enough to go around.

"That's fine. I just came in for a drink...Where are ya keeping the water?" Mick asked, as Sharon set down the knife she was using and walked over to a nearby window, pulling a bucket up from underneath it.

Mick smiled and took the bucket from her, then dipped a small glass in, taking some of the water out. He took a sip from the glass before turning back to look at Sharon.

"Whatcha' making for dinner anyways?" Mick asked, then took another sip from his water.

"Lamb." Sharon answered, as she brought her knife down again on the counter top.

"That's good. I always liked your lamb." Mick replied, as he finished the water and set the glass down on the table.

Mick looked out the window against, this time looking up to the sky.

"Looks like rain to me." Mick said, as he took one last look at Sharon then walked out of the kitchen.

Chapter One: Extinction
1893, Day One: Afternoon
Liam Jocard

Liam glanced out onto the town of Gleeson in the distance while several other men were sat in a circle joking about how the town isn’t worth the dirt it’s built on. As Liam stares out into the distance he hears a loud gunshot he focuses his attention onto the area he thought the sound came from. He pulls a book out and starts muttering to him self

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with …..

One of the bandits stands up and says
“Boss what we gonna do, we just gonna stand hear?”
Liam just ignores the man and continues his passage

Me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever

When Liam finished his passage he turned and said “boy you listen hear I give the orders around hear not you. There is a time and place to do things and now is not the time. The last thing this town wants is us 9 walking about the town. I was told to watch and look after for now. Until I see a reason for us to go and take visit to the town we stay hear"

The bandit says "so we just gonna stay hear like guards and poorly sober guards at that?!"

liam then shouts at the boy "so tell me are you officially telling me what to do or are you gonna sit back down cause ill throw down if ya wanna?!"”

The bandit then sat down while the other men started sniggering at him being put down like that. Liam then turned back round staring back at the town saying to himself
“"I hope Gleeson is worth this"”

Chapter One: Extinction
1893, Day One: Afternoon
Alexandria Gallows

Alexandria sighs as she looks over the two piles of packages. A single strand of her long hair blocks her vision, so she blows at it. Stubbornly, it moves to the other eye. She finally concedes that it won't stop just as a gunshot rings out, though it's too far away from her to matter. She grabs up the next package and opens it quickly to find what she has been looking for.

It's a civil war sword, with a simple white note tied by a pink ribbon to the handle. She opens the note and smiles at the familiar scrawl on the paper. Having finally found her dad's sword, the one he shipped away to his sister before...that day, she stops to think.

"I've gotten pa's sword back...But what'm I gonna do now? I reckon I could stay'n this rathole, maybe get me a couple of dollars. Yaa, that what I reckon I'll do."

With that, she leaves the train car, passes the conductor's office, who's out cold from a certain gun being smacked across his face, and walks into the main street looking for the saloon.

Chapter One: Extinction
1893, Day One: Afternoon
Gleeson, Arizona, Library
IC: Dante McNamara

Dante laid motionless on his back, staring blankly at the cieling. Eversince Gleeson slipped from its perch no one rarely ever came into the Library. Thankfully his ability has allowed him to become the unoffical doctor and in Gleeson it proves to be a very lucrative field. With a sigh Dante rolls out of bed, throwing on his jacket. As he exits the room he stops for a moment staring at the picture of his family before they came to Gleeson.

"One thing I wish I could forget" he mutters to himself heading for his herbs and remedies. Sliding them into the leather bag firmly attaching the guard straps. Placing the bag over his shoulder he exits the library onto the empty dirt streets of Gleeson.

Apon exiting the library Dante notices a female walking along the street, apparently looking around. More then likely the saloon he thought to himself, The saloon is really the only place you'll find people now a days. Dante quickly scanned over the womens features noticing a tie to one of the Native American tribes. A bit homely but very attactive he thought to himself as he walked towards her. Continuing to search his mind he realizes the young women is A bandit Alexandria Gallows Wanted for knocking over 15 banks,Reward $150 dollars for her alive.

Dante begins to jog towards the girl stopping a few feet away from her.

"Howdy...what brings you to this desert paradise? Before you over-react im not a bounty hunter but some words to the wise you should avoid the good law enforcement in this town. Im headed for the saloon would you care to join me?"

1893, Day One: Afternoon
Alexandria Gallows

Alexandria listens carefully to strange fellow babble on. After he stops, she shifts the sword in her belt and instead pulls out her pistol. The French pistol is designed to carry both six revolver shots, and one shotgun scatter shot. Looking calmly at the man, she says.

"Look fella, you're sorta funny and babblish, so I ain't shooting ya right off. Now if you can say that slowly, I won't fill ya with holes."

Looking down at the pistol she had unholstered. Smirking slighty he admires the gun for a seconed or two.

"French model pistol, designed to carry both six revolver shots, and one shotgun shot. Nice models but some flaws...but nice none the least. Rubbing the back of his head he reaches into his bag pulling out a small vile filled with green powder "Here next time you get a drink drop this in. Gleeson can get a little stuffy " placing the vile in her pocket.

Flashing a smile he turns towards the saloon and begins to walk. Its not an uncommon thing for outlaws to journey to Gleeson and neither was the LAW executing them once they got caught. Turning he smiles again " Like I said before...if your looking for the saloon its this way." With that said he continues his walk into the saloon.

Chapter One: Extinction
1893, Day One: Afternoon
Gleeson, Arizona, Outskirts

IC: Hiro Nakamura

Hiro surveyed the old west, he loved cowboys, but never knew they'd be so violent. Looking at Kensai's sword, he realised it would be of no use in a time when gun-wielding was the way forward. Hearing a noise of insecets and crying behind him, Hiro was scared and disorientated.

He saw a figure on a horse, wiping out a bandit with his power of the plague.

"*Godsend*" He whispered.

"Hallo, Mister cowboy!" He shouted, not knowing what on earth this guy would do or say to him.

Chapter One: Extinction
1893, Day One: Afternoon
Gleeson Saloon, Room 2

IC: Samantha Davis

Sam hated Gleeson with every bone, muscle and cell in her body. Since she had come here, the town had been in a situation of crisis. She however was not one for a crisis, she sat inside, constantly looking in retrospect with nostalgia and wistfulness. Her emotions were jumbled and evident, therefore unleashing her wings upon the sullen and dark room. Combing them so that they formed a feathery cushion behind her against the wall, she continued her drunken antics.

Sighing and taking another swig of her Father’s whisky, she laid it down to take a long, deep drag of the cigarette she grasped in her right hand. Freja was sitting on the creaky wooden with her back pressed against the wall. She had been wearing the same dress for a week now; it was distinctly grungy and had wear and tear marks dotted all around it.

Getting up steadily, she stumbled, readying her feet and body for collapse, causing a sort of large tipsy side-step, which resulted in her putting her hand to her head to keep her ever-unbalanced vision stable. Gradually moving toward the window ledge, she stared at the view below her.

Valentine was up to his usual s***, pushing around new-comers and acting like he was god's messenger on earth. "Someone ought to put that prick in perspective", she thought to herself. Looking at Adam, the new guy, she tilted her head, "He's cute" she continued her rampant drink induced thought.

Valentine had knocked him out clean and was dragging him to the Sherriff's office where the guy would be tortured in a cell for a while. Sighing and flipping back her hair, yet again, she necked a large amount of her Father's finest whisky. "f*** Gleeson" she screamed, throwing the bottle against the wall.

Chapter One: Extinction
1893, Day One: Afternoon
Gleeson, a small room in town
IC: Gabriella

Gabriella was reading in her room, having nothing better to do. It was the hot as all get out, and she wasn't in the mood to bake under the Arizona sun. She was pretty sure Spain had not been this hot, but she wasn't willing to bet on that, just in case.
Reading, however, was a solitary thing, and Gabriella was feeling a little lonely. Setting her book down on her vanity, she checked her appearance, and, once satisfied, made her way outside.

"God Almighty it's hot," she muttered to herself, noticing she still hadn't managed to rid herself of her Spanish accent. Realizing being out IN the sun was still out of the question, she made her away across the street and into the saloon.
She was pleased to see people in there. She sat down at the bar and said, "I'd like you to give me a class of whiskey," and smiled when it was done.
She knew he would have done it no matter what as it was his job...but it was nice to not have to wait.

Chapter One: Extinction
1893, Day One: Afternoon

Gleeson, Arizona, Outskirts
IC: Benjamin Donal

After Ben finished off the bandits he moved his right hand in the way of the Catholic cross as he said, "May you find the eternity the Lord God has in store for you. In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Amen." After, his hand reached down and picked the cross from his neck and brought it to his lips, kissing it.

Hearing a man shout made Ben furrow his brow and turn in his saddle, dropping the cross back upon his chest. Seeing an Asian standing there, waving his arms, made Ben raise a brow as he turned Darla around, closing the distance between them until he was almost on top of him.

"And you are?" Ben asked, hand swiftly taking his gun out and pointing it at him. "Speak quickly or I'll blow holes in your chest."

Chapter One: Extinction
1893, Day One: Afternoon

Gleeson, Arizona, Town Centre
IC: Adam Monroe

When Adam awoke, his head was pounding, dried blood caked on his skin from wounds long since healed. He looked around the room, trying to make out where he was, or more specifically WHEN.

He was in a cell, not a very clean one at that so he figured to be in an older time era, around HIS original time. His eyes fell upon a figure sitting by the window, feet propped up on the table. Adam lifted a hand the shield him from the sun as it poured in, causing Adam to only see the silhouette of the man.

"Where am I and who are you?" Adam demanded.

"No!" cried Hiro, "Don't shoooot!" he said raising and waving his arms in the air like a survivor of a plane crash on a desert island.

"I am Hiro, Nakamura" Hiro said in his best english accent.

Looking at Ben with his squinting eyes, adjusting his glasses by sliding it up the bridge of his nose he addressed the man who was now threatening his life.

"Mister cowboy, what is your name? And what day and year is it?" Continued the small, confused Japanese time traveler.

Chapter One: Extinction
1893, Day One: Afternoon
Gleeson, Arizona, Sherriff's Office

IC: Sherriff Valentine

Valentine had thrown the new guy into the cell beside his desk. Sighing heavily and slumping into his usual idle spot with a sound thud. He raised his spurred boots upon the oak desk. The prisoner was awake and asking too many questions.

"Pudda sock in it wouldja!" said Valentine, not caring that his voice was slurred and made virtually no sense to the new-guy. A little while passed, where Valentine was silent, paying almost no attention to Adam.

"I'm Valentine, that's Sherriff to you though. We are in the fine, fine town of Gleeson, Arizona state." replied the Sherriff after a little while.

Looking up, the Sherriff noticed that it was not just due to his Godsend that he was different, but something more. "Yew dun any time in the locker before mister?" asked Valentine, admiring the patience of this strange outlander.

Ben raised his eye at the sad, pathetic man and uncocked his gun, sheathing it back in it's holster. "Donal...." he said, still eyeing the man, waiting for the disguise to fall away. "Benjamin Donal." Seeing that the man had no reaction to his name he sat forward.

"You're not from 'round 'ere, are ya..." He said. "Any man who was would be quaking in their boots right about now." At that, Ben looked down at the man's feet to see no boots but some weird footwear.

"It is Tuesday, the year..." he had to stop and think about that one. "...is 1893."

"Oh yes," Adam said as he stood. "Thirty years of it," he smiled. "Imprisoned for that long does things to a man....makes him reflect on his life..." he leaned forward so his face was between two bars. "Making one decide on things..."

His eyes hardened. "Like the fact that he would NEVER be again! Now get off your a** and unlock this door!"

Chapter One: Extinction
1893, Day One: Afternoon
Gleeson, Arizona, Saloon
IC: Dante McNamara

Dante entered the saloon not caring if the outlaw followed him or not. He actually frowned apon guns for the most part. Missing the days were it required the skill of a sword to determine the outcome of a battle. Thanks to his ability he was quite skilled with a blade but in Gleeson swordsmanship ment nothing. Smiling at the customer sitting at the bar. Judging by her accent she had to be from spain. Deciding against attempting to strike a conversation with her, he places his bag onto the counter.

" Mornin, I got the usual stuff for you" he says to the bartender who nods well pouring some whiskey for the lady at the bar. Dante reaches into his bag pulling out a couple vials of white powder. The bartender hands off the drink to the lady and reaches into his pocket sliding payment to Dante.

Reaching out he flicks the money back to the bartender. "No charge today, Just tell your wife to take a spoonful of each vile in the mornin and night. She should be back to herself in about a couple days."

Buttoning his bag Dante leans across the bar grabbing a small glass of water.

Chapter One: Extinction
1893, Day One: Afternoon
Gleeson, Arizona, Saloon
IC: Gabriella

Gabriella watched the exchange with mild interest. Just what she was looking for, amusement, and perhaps some intelligent conversation. She hadn't had that since her father left her. She had thought becoming a school teacher would allow her this luxury, but it seemed these days no one was interested in bettering themselves, opting instead for a battle of guns instead of wits.

"Are you a doctor?" she asked the man, flipping her hair over her shoulder, well aware of her Spanish accent. She cursed it on the inside, but smiled outwardly, sipping her drink.
Good stuff.

After taking a sip from his cup of water he places it back down.

"Are you a doctor?' asks the girl with the spanish accent. Smiling he turns in his seat to face her direction.

" At times I am the towns doctor, book-keeper, vet, at times a lawyer and Judge. Not so much the last two though" pausing for a seconed to take another sip of his water " In gleeson there really aint much debate which aint settled by a gun".

Looking into her eyes he snaps his finger attempting to figure out where she's from. After a seconed passes he points his finger at the women "Madrid Spain? Is that were your from?"

Her eyes widened in surprise, then narrowed in suspicion. She knew she couldn't hide her Spanish background, what with the hair, and the skin, and that obnoxious accent she couldn't be rid of, but he had just pinpointed her city of birth, and damnit if that disturb her slightly. She had never had anyone guess that before. Either he was quite talented, or quite lucky....or both.

"Tell me how you know that..." she persuaded, smiling sweetly, all the while thinking 'please work, please work, please work..'
Her ability would be much more useful if it worked all the time. Sometimes it was like firing in the dark.

Dante laughed a little to himself as the womens eyes widened in surprise at his guess. Although he wanted to hit himself for always saying more then he should have.

"Tell me how you know that.." she asked well smiling sweetly.

Without thinking of an explanation his mouth began to move " Its an ability that I have to remember everything I read, hear, or see. I could tell from your accent you had to be from Madrid judging from the pitch and tone of your accent." he says blankly. As he finishes his explanation he shakes his head a bit trying to figure out why he said it.

Looking into the womens eyes his eyes narrow then return to normal. " My names Dante McNamara...nice to meet you ?" he says holding out his hand

"Gabriella Cabrarez," she shared, accepting his hand. "What an interesting ability," she mused, wondering if it was possible he was like her. 'No,' she decided. 'There is no one like me.'
"This accent is quite a burden, I wish to be rid of it. I wonder...could you help me? Perhaps...how do you say...um...diction? Diction lessons? I would be very greatful..?"
It would also offer her a closer glimpse of this man, to see if he was just incredibly intelligent, of gifted, as she was.
She was leaning towards intelligence.
"Also, maybe you can help me...I'm here to apply for a teaching position. Who would I talk to about that?"

Dante finnaly put a name behind the womens face. Gently shaking her hand he stands up placing his bag back over his shoulder. Rubbing his chin he responds "Diction lessons huh ...never had to give any but im sure I can help you out. But as far as the teaching job goes ...there is not many kids in Gleeson that even care to learn. If your interested in making an exchange for my lessons you could help me out in my shop?"

Dante began to recount all his information about the books he had read on masking & ridding accents. The information begins to flood into his head as he recounts it all. Smiling he lifts his hand pointing at the building across the street. "Thats the library over there"
