OOC: Renamed from "The Second Holocaust" to "Revolutions" for a snazzy title smile.gif

---------------------------

Tagline: What if Nathan wasn't interrupted while giving his speech?

---------------------------

The Concept

This is a WW2/Heroes crossover but in modern times. So think Nazi Germany. Think the Holocaust. Then substitute the Germans for all the normal, non gifted people. The Jews for all of the gifted people.

All characters from Heroes (Peter, Claire, etc.) have been taken into custody. Some were killed, others are still detained. They are not available for character choice.

---------------------------

The Set-Up

(Information adapted from Wikipedia )

The persecution and genocide were accomplished in stages. Legislation was put in place to remove the Gifted from civil society. People with 4 normal grandparents were of "normal blood", while people were classified as Gifted if they descended from three or four gifted grandparents. A person with one or two Gifted grandparents was a crossbreed, of "mixed blood".

The first law, The Law for the Protection of Normal Blood and Normal Honor, prohibited marriages and extra-marital intercourse between the “Gifted” and the “Normal”.

Entirely convinced that the purity of Normal blood is essential
to the further existence of the normal people, and inspired by the
uncompromising determination to safeguard the future of the Normal
nation, the Normality has unanimously resolved upon the following law:

Section 1

1. Marriages between Gifted and citizens of the Norm or kindred
blood are forbidden. Marriages concluded in defiance of this law
are void, even if, for the purpose of evading this law, they were
concluded abroad.

2. Proceedings for annulment may be initiated only
by the Public Prosecutor.

Section 2

1. Extramarital intercourse between Gifted and subjects
of the state of Norm or related blood is forbidden.

Section 3

1. Gifted are forbidden to display national flags
or the national colors.

2. On the other hand they are permitted to display the
Gifted symbol; the Godsend. The exercise of this right is
protected by the State.

Section 4

1. A person who acts contrary to the prohibition of
Section 1 will be punished with hard labor.

2. A person who acts contrary to the prohibition of
Section 2 will be punished with imprisonment or with hard labor.

3. A person who acts contrary to the provisions of
Sections 3 will be punished with imprisonment up
to a year and with a fine, or with one of these penalties.

The second law, The Gifted Citizenship Law, stripped persons not considered of normal blood of their normal citizenship and introduced a new distinction between “Gifted citizens” and “nationals.”

Concentration camps were established in which inmates were used as slave labor until they died of exhaustion or disease. The Gifted were crammed into ghettos before being transported hundreds of miles by freight train to extermination camps where, if they survived the journey, the majority of them were killed in gas chambers.

Another distinctive feature was the extensive use of human subjects in medical experiments. Normal physicians carried out such experiments at concentration camps.

---------------------------

The Plot

On March 20th, 2007, the world changed forever. But not in the way one would think. Nathan Petrelli stood before the world and announced that he had the ability to fly. Many did not believe him and many saw him as insane, just like his father; just like his brother.

Some, on the other hand, believed him and had him secretly silenced. Believing he was the only one, life started to go back on its way until a cheerleader decided to step forward. She brought about her ability and the existence of a company that tracked down people like her.

Acquiring this new information sent the government to look into this Company. Discovering the thousands of millions of files and records kept, they decided to take drastic measures.

The reality was simple. These Gifted ones were different and therefore feared. They were sought out, first starting with the Company’s files. They were ordered to wear the Godsend symbol upon their attire so the world knew who and what they were. Others were discovered through mandatory testing of the nation’s blood.

Some people saw the Gifted ones as a blessing, sent by God to help this aching world, and drew them into their homes, hiding them, trying to export them out of the country. Many were discovered and put to death for treason. Others, were sent to camps.

Other governments viewed this drastic measure as unmoral and declared war upon the United States. Many cities, like New York, lay in ruins after bombs shredded the buildings to nothing but rubble. But the United States is strong as is, putting up a heck of a fight.

There is one man, one boy, who has chosen to stand up for his right as a human being. His name is Justin Avox. The rebellion leader has earned nothing but a death warrant and constantly looking over his shoulder, but he refuses to back down. He believes in the faith of his forefathers that the gifted and the normal can live side by side in peace like they have for centuries. He would rather die a free man then to die in some camp or chamber.

You have been informed through underground communication that Justin Avox has decided to put a team together to make the first strike. He has chosen you for your ability and sensuality. He has told you to meet him at Times Square were you will be briefed on the matter. The death risk is high, but in the end the mission is simple: to survive...by any means necessary. Are you willing to rebel? Or be taken quietly to your death. The choice is yours.

---------------------------

Chapter One: The Congregation
Day One, Night

Underground Bunker
IC: Justin Avox

Justin walked through the bunker, checking up on the progress, Hudson Everard by his side. He wore his typical gear, military boots, cargo pants, military jacket with a sweatshirt underneath. He wore a baseball cap and fingerless gloves that covered his very worn, dirty hands. His face almost matched his hands. He hadn’t actually had a full nights rest for quite some time now. Not when he knew that Gifted were being killed all around him, their screams echoing in the….dead of night.

He turned to a girl named Jacqueline, Jacque for short. “Where are we on the new recruits?” he asked as he passed by. She immediately stood from her seat, grabbing a sheet of paper, walking by his side.

“I have a list of people I have contacted on your behalf.” She showed him the paper which listed all of their names:

Devon Carter -- Precognition
Haylie Elizabeth Peters -- Pyrokinesis
Zoey Dupont -- Instant Teleportation
William Kelly -- Metal Manipulation
Michael Jay Reverson -- Electromagnetism
Esther "Ezzy" Milton -- Kinetic Energy Manipulation
Naomi Fernandez -- Innate Knowledge of a Subject

Justin skimmed over the list then handed it back to her. “Alright, but where do we stand?” he asked.

“Um, they were all told to meet you at Times Square today, at midnight, in the lobby of the One Times Square building.”

“Good work Jacque,” he smiled at her, giving her that smile he only gave her, as he ducked into a duct that lead outside of the base, Hudson following him.

Chapter One: The Congregation
Day One, Night

Times Square, One Times Square Building, Inside
IC: Justin Avox

Justin stood on the 5th floor of the One Times Square building, amidst the deserted, bomb rattled streets of New York, looking out at the streets as the recruits started to arrived. It was quarter of 12 and starting to get a bit chilly.

Justin could see his breath turn to vapor as he breathed. He lifted his binoculars as he studied each one of them.

Without turning to him, he spoke to Hudson, who stood next to him, “Tell me I was right in bringing outsiders in for this job.”

Chapter One: The Congregation
Day One, Night
Times Square, One Times Square Building, Inside
IC: Hudson Everard

Hudson surveyed the damage of Times Square while Justin walked around, it had been years since he had seen this kind of destruction. He recalled the bombing of Dresden during the Second World War, and thought to himself how this seemed so much worse. His concentration was broken when Justin spoke to him.

“Tell me I was right in bringing outsiders in for this job.”

Hudson thought for a moment.

"Everyone has the right to fight for what they believe in; regardless of whether or not we know we can trust them. If we want to achieve a world were we can co-exist with those around us, we must first learn to co-exist with ourselves. A divided society, or group, will never be able to achieve the type of unity we seek...Believe me, I've seen it happen numerous times." Hudson said, the tone of regret obvious in his voice.

"I do believe you're doing the right thing, Justin. As strong as we are, we can not do this alone." Hudson added, as he turned and looked out again at the destruction.

"You know how I feel about violence; and I respect that you've never asked me to break my pacifist ways since we've met...But even I know that we sometimes have to do things we are not comfortable with...Be it violence, or calling others to our aid. In time, I think you'll see that we've done the right thing here." Hudson said with a smile, which disappeared quickly.

"I just hope our guests don't take their time...These streets aren't safe."

Chapter One: The Congregation
Day One, Night
Apartment building near Times Square
IC: Haylie Peters

Haylie awoke with a small jump as her cell phone alarm went off. Allowing her eyes to adjust to the darkness, she glanced around the room she had been staying in for the last two days. The people who had allowed it to her had wanted to help her leave the country safely, a plan Haylie had been all for until she received Justin's message.
Now she just wanted to make it over to Times Square, which was a block away, without being detected.
Climbing out of bed, she slipped on a pair of black tennis shoes, zipped a black jacket up over her white shirt, pulled her hair back into a pony tail, and stepped out of the apartment.
From here it was a matter of making the block run to Times Square without being detected. Running quickly down the stairs, she pushed open the front door and stepped into the chilly New York night.
'This is it,' she thought glancing around to make sure she was alone.

The trip over was quick, and surprisingly easy. No one had saw her, at least to her knowledge, which made her all the more confident in what she was doing. She looked up at the One Times Square building, and stepped into the lobby.
'This is it,' she thought. 'This is it.'

Chapter One: The Congregation
Day One, Night
Abandoned Office Building outside Times Square
IC: Naomi Fernandez

In the barren remains of an unknown office building you could hear the grinding of a skateboard and almost feel the grit beneath the wheels of her board.
She pressed her weight on the back, knelt down and hopped up onto a railing leading down to the first floor, and the door in front of her. Naomi was completely in the moment and nothing else could catch her attention, but as soon as she hit the floor with a loud thud, her watch went off on her right wrist. A cheap orange plastic thing, "Made in China" she called it buzzed off as the number's clicked to midnight. Naomi could see her breath hanging in the cold air as she jumped off her board, stepped on the back and flipped it into her arms and headed out the door, excited, nervous, nauseous and elated all at the same time.

"Finally"

As soon as she busted through the glass doors, which surprisingly were still in tact, she got a running start and glided like on air on her board down the street, kicking and pushing in rhythm, and she got lost in the hum and beat of her Mp3 player, just kicking up a beat, no lyrics. Just pure beat she followed to as she bobbed her head and kept on kicking and pushing outside the area she was notified to go. The cool air hit her face rapidly as she kept up her pace, her breathing fast and heart-rate racing as the excitement mounted in her stomach. Naomi reached up for a second and pulled her multi-colored hood over her New York Yankees cap, and quickly buttoned up the huge orange buttons on her dark leaf colored jacket and kept on pushing her board.

Naomi saw another person walk into the building, and sped up her pace to catch up.
Pushing her long bangs out of her eyes to see better, she stepped off her board, bent over and quickly snatched it up and ran into the building, behind the woman that walked in.
Naomi smiled, and with a quick gasp for air, she said her greeting and watched her breath fade before her.

Chapter One: The Congregation
Day One, Night
Times Square, One Building, Lobby
IC: Hudson Everard

Hudson and Justin had moved down from the fifth floor of the building, making their way to the bombed out lobby of the former skyscraper. The two remained silent on their walk down the stairs, which would have bothered some people, but it was a comfortable silence between the two.

When they reached the lobby, Hudson stood in the center of the room, while Justin looked around making sure the place was safe.

"As a man who knows how governments work; I don't think this is the kind of place we need to worry about spies and other problems." Hudson said, trying to reassure Justin, as he heard a noise from another area of the building.

Hudson and Justin looked at each other for a moment, worried about what the noise might have been, before Hudson readied himself and walked into the heart of the lobby, find a woman standing there with another one on a skateboard behind her.

"Well, well. This is an interesting place for people of your character to be hanging around." Hudson answered, as he eyed up the women.

"Don't worry, despite my advanced age, I'm not some government employee. I'm here for the same reasons you are, although I'm already working on the inside. When the rest of those invited arrive, I'll begin. Until then, feel free to look around and ask any questions you'd wish."

Chapter One: The Congregation
Day One, Night

Times Square, One Building, Lobby
IC: Justin Avox

Justin had to keep from chuckling at the irony of what this must seem like to the newcomers. They would think Hudson was him: Justin Avox.

Leaning against the wall, he placed the hood of his sweatshirt on his head then crossed his arms across his chest. His breath could still be seen as he breathed normally.

Keeping his ears perked for any radio frequencies, he watched his surrogate father speak to the two arrivals. Granted he could only pick up frequencies within a 5 mile radius but that was still 5 miles head start time if he detected any.

Justin brought a hand to his mouth as he gave a violent cough. Living on the streets and in a bunker would do that to you. Breathing in the dust and rust all day long....but that was life....unfortunately.

Hudson had turned at the sound of his cough but Justin just shook his head, letting him know it was nothing and he'd be alright.

Chapter One: The Congregation

At the sound of Justin coughing, Hudson looked back in concern. He'd fallen into ill health lately, no doubt due to the living conditions. Hudson may have had some powerful friends in certain places, but no strong enough to help him get a known fugitive and one of the USA's most wanted out of the country. Not to mention the fact that Justin was determined to stay in the USA until things changed for the better.

"Don't worry about that. He's with me." Hudson told the women, who showed some concern about the sound of coughing coming from behind one of the pillars in the lobby.

"Quite the historic building this used to be." Hudson said, as he rested his hand on one of the walls of the bombed out building.

"The entire Square is named after this single building, and yet...The building itself has never been a very popular place for businesses, just for their advertisements. A bit of a strange place to beginning the revolution, considering the doomed nature of businesses that once stood in their very spot, but we're hoping to fair much better." Hudson said with a smile and chuckle, as he looked at the two women, trying to figure out who exactly they were on the list of those asked to the location.

"If you don't mind, I'd like to know which two of our guests you are..."

Chapter One: The Congregation
Day One, Night
Times Square, One Building, Lobby
IC: Naomi Fernandez

All Naomi could do was sigh. Not a sigh of boredom, but a sigh of relief that she was actually correct in her gut about coming here. The tense feeling inside of her melted away as she heard the man's voice assuring they were in the right place.
Naomi's eyes followed to source of the cough, she listened carefully at what kind of cough it was and she tried to see how his chest moved when he did.
It all seemed so familiar, but of course, she had read about this in a medical book a while ago.
Naomi relaxed her arms around her skateboard, and tucked it under her shoulder. She was cautious moving over toward the boy, or should she say man? He looked young, younger than her, but had an air about him of maturity. Her feet finally moved, her legs cooling down to her dismay. Naomi loved the burn in her muscles when she skated, it was one of the best feelings in the world.

"Your cough is a non-productive one, surprised you don't have pneumonia.
I can't tell if your diaphragm is spasming though, most likely just simple debris build-up in your lungs and esophagus"

Naomi smiled, she was a bit of a show-off, but it wasn't her intention.
She modestly took a few steps back, smiling at him, and she looked back at the older man.
"I hope I'm not wrong, are you Justin Avox by any chance?"
She held out her gloved hand for a shake, but quickly retracted it in fear of being wrong, but still smiling.
"I'm Naomi Fernandez, at your service."

Hudson was surprised when Naomi confused him for Justin, but for the timing being, it might be best to go along with it. If someone was there to betray them, it would be better for Hudson to take the fall as Justin then allow it to actually happen.

"Yes, I am." Hudson replied, as he took her hand in his, then leaned forward and kissed it gently.

"Sorry if that took you off guard, I'm a man of old customs." Hudson answered, as Naomi seemed some what embarrassed by the hand kiss.

"Well, I'm afraid we're still waiting for a few others...Until then, since I hate to repeat myself, I don't feel like going too much into details. That, and I still don't know this other lovely young lady's name."

Chapter One: The Congregation
Day One, Night
Times Square, One Building, Lobby
IC: Naomi Fernandez

All Naomi could think about was her brother when he kissed her hand.
It sounds weird, but the only time someone ever kissed her hand was when she was practicing for the school play as Juliet and her brother had to be Romeo for her lines, then he kissed her hand, then tripped her over the living room chair. All she could do was be furious with him, but at the same time it made her laugh.
Her eyes fell down at the floor, but she quickly gathered herself and smiled at the situation.
"If only I liked older gentlemen, in fact if only if I liked gentlemen at all,"
Was all she could say, her face already red from the cold turned a bright scarlet, like she was wearing very dark cherry red rouge.

"So, Justin Avox. A very young, youthful sounding name for a man with gray. I don't want to guess your age, but if I'm right, the wrinkles along your forehead and mouth tell me you're not that old, fifty five at most?" She smiled, then added "Please tell me you're not forty"

Naomi's upper arm was still clutching her skateboard which seemed to get heavier by the second. She took it in the opposite hand and set it down on the floor, with one foot keeping it in place. Her eyes still feel on the man behind Justin, she could tell he was having difficulty breathing, and could hear a slight crackle as he inhaled.

In fact, she had never met anyone like her to begin with.

"Haylie Peters. My name is Haylie Peters. Um, but you can call me just Haylie," she said, extending a hand to offer him a hand shake. She also smiled at the girl standing beside her. She was more than excited to begin, as well as excited to meet other people.

Chapter One: The Congregation
Day One, Night

Times Square, One Building, Lobby
IC: Justin Avox

Forcing a smile he broke eye contact with Hudson as he looked down at his feet. Justin was a sick man and his eyes showed symptoms of it. Course those who knew him just thought he was really worn out.

As a woman approached him, he stood up right. She glanced over him and he furrowed his brow, wondering what she was looking at. But when she spoke, she spoke of his cough.

Naomi Fernandez she introduced herself as. As she turned to Hudson and asked if he was Justin, Justin raised a brow as Hudson claimed the identity. But this was nothing new. A few times Hudson stood in as him. Over protectiveness if you asked him, but, he let the man do what he pleased. He'd been around for over two centuries, he knew how to survive. Something like assuming an identity, even for a few minutes, wasn't going to hurt anyone.

Glancing down at his hands, he watched as they shook slightly. He didn't need people worrying about him, not at a time like this. He'd just pull through this illness like he did every other. He'd have to, he couldn't afford to go to a hospital and the medicines they had back at the bunker were limited.

As everyone went around introducing themselves, Justin remained quiet, like a fly on the wall, watching everything and learning so much about each one of the recruits.

Chapter One: The Congregation
Day One, Night

Boston, Massachusetts~~~>Times Square, One Building, Lobby
IC: Esther Milton

The cloaked figure strode briskly through the building, holding a large and very deadly looking gun. People cowered under their desks, terrified for their lives, and wondering where the guards were. No guards would come. All six security guards were out cold. The cameras were off. Worse for them, the phone, internet, and fax lines were down. Several cell phone towers had been knocked out, as well. Weeks of planning had gone into this incursion. They couldn't have known that the gun was a prop. If any of them had the proper clearance, they would know they were in little real danger, but the only person who knew about it was home with the flu. The gun was a theater prop; it would not do anything but create a flash and smoke. Then, the building started to shake. And the hooded person spoke, in a deep and raspy voice. "Get out of here, if you value your lives. This building, and everything in it will shortly explode. Take nothing except your coats and, if you have them, photographs of your family."
The figure came to the Regional Director's office, and blew out the door.
After looking around to make sure there was no one waiting in ambush, they walked in, and looked around. A safe, right in the corner! They went to the safe, and blew off the lock quickly. Inside lay a neat stack of manilla folders, marked "Suspected Gifted Individuals". They took the folders, and put them into a canvas bag. Then they went to the Mac computer sitting on the director's desk, and blew up the memory, and several key chips. They rooted through cabinets and blew up various CDs, jump drives, memory sticks, anything that could serve as back-up, and then walked out of the office. The hooded one strode out through the now emptied building, and exited the back way. Sirens rang out in the night, but they were too far away to matter.
By this time, the person had taken off their hood, mask, and fireproof pants.
That was amazing! I did it, and I'm not going to be caught! though Esther Milton, as she got into a blue van labeled Department of Homeland Security, Boston.
The van drove away, in the opposite direction than the sirens were coming from.
Esther Milton, Number Six on the FBI's Most Wanted List under the name Red Liberty,
had an appointment in Times Square.

Chapter One: The Congregation
Day One, Night

Times Square, One Building, Lobby
IC: Naomi Fernandez

An awkward silence rolled over the four as Naomi looked down her her skateboard and seeing the words "With Faith, Anything is Possible" written over white tape. Her eyes fluttered and she smiled. They were her father's words, even though he wasn't a man of organized faith, he had faith in everything in his life.

She looked up again, and reached up and brushed her bangs out of her eyes again, a good haircut has been hard to come by lately.
"So...Do you, er"
Naomi looked back behind Hudson.
"You guys, belong to any organization?"
He seems kind of shady...But for a good reason probably.
Naomi thought about this, and out of the corner of her eye she saw his hands shaking, and as she tried to look into his eyes with hers, they looked a little yellow, or maybe pink. It was hard to see at midnight, no doubt.

"If you can't answer that now, no worries."

She let out a big grin and a slight giggle.
"Who's the quiet one, and if you can't answer that, then I guess tonight isn't my lucky night, I've never 'not' known so much at one time"

Naomi knew she sucked at jokes, and she seemed to keep pushing her bad luck tonight.

Chapter One: The Congregation
Day One, Night

Times Square, One Building, Lobby
IC: Justin Avox

Justin raised a brow at Naomi, not believing what he was seeing. She had JUST met them and she was already pushing at information, thinking they'd just hand it over. All the while they were still weeding any possible threats from the group IF there were any threats at all.

Coughing slightly he folded his arms back up across his chest, hiding his hands after he saw her eye them. When her eyes sought his he looked away and at Hudson.

"Get used to it," Justin said matter-of-factly to her comment on never not knowing so much at one time.

Hudson shot him a look to tell him to be quiet, that he had the situation under control.

Justin nodded "My apologizes Mr. Avox." He then returned his piercing blue eyes to Naomi.

Chapter One: The Congregation
Day One, Night

Times Square, One Building, Lobby
IC: Naomi Fernandez

Naomi could only smile at the situation, her face was starting to hurt, but they weren't fake smiles. This one was more of a sarcastic smile and chuckle at Justin's comment.
"Too bad I'm not like my brother, he would've gotten used to it like that."

She held up her hand and snapped her fingers while taking a little laugh. All she could do was laugh, and smile, and stare and evaluate the situation, and try to get some midnight humor in.

His eyes were still darting over at her, and after a while it got uncomfortable, so she looked back with her eyes, which weren't piercing, but more like a soft shove, something comforting but still makes you want to move, to do something.

Naomi looked away, back at Hudson, but she couldn't help wondering why he answered so obediently, but seemed pretty cocky any other time Hudson didn't shoot looks.
Maybe he wasn't such a rebel at all, or maybe Naomi hasn't see 360 degrees.
If only she could know everything about people, because knowing about the vast expanses of the universe and how to speak Swahili fluently wouldn't help you relate to people if you couldn't even relate to yourself.

Chapter One: The Congregation
Day One, Night

Times Square, Outside~~~>One Building, Lobby
IC: Esther Milton

After she left Boston, she had picked up two buckets of white paint, and painted out the DHS label she had stenciled on the van only two days previous.
Then she had driven as fast as she legally could, finally pulling into New York, navigating her way through the city, and parking three blocks from Times Square.
Now I'm not alone. Together, we'll save the country, bring it back to the ideals of liberty and justice. I hope...
She opened the door and walked in.
"Uh...hi. I'm Esther. Which one of you is Justin Avox?"

Chapter One: The Congregation
Day One, Day

Washington, D.C., FBI Building
IC: Simon Drago

Simon glanced down upon the file on the table infront of him. He slowly brought it over to him, removing his sunglasses and looking down at the it.

"Justin Avox...." he said then pushed it aside, "He's that kid you guys seemed to have....lost...am I right?"

The man standing on the other side of the table went to speak but Simon put his hand up as he stood. "And he's slipped through your grasps HOW many times?" he asked as he leaned over, placing his hands down upon the table.

"Too many to count, but that's beside the point. We seemed to of come across an inmate that may have some insight on his location."

"Oh yea?" Simon raised an eye.

"Yes, but we want you to pick up a...." he glanced at the files in his hand as he grabbed another, tossing it on the table. "William Kelly."

"A Gifted?" Simon spat. "Me?! Work with a Gifted....that's an insult...." He said as he pushed the file away as he walked to the window, glancing out.

"That's an order....from the top."

Simon glanced back over his shoulder. "The White House?" When the man nodded, Simon sighed as he reluctantly picked the file up. "Why are you guys so stir crazy about locking this kid up anyway?"

"He's been quiet."

"Yea?" Simon raised a brow. "So?"

The man just gave Simon a look. "Too quiet."

"So you think he's planning something?"

"We KNOW he is..."

"Well if you know so much about him, why isn't he rotting in a barrack by now?" Simon asked as he turned back to the man.

"You are dismissed Colonel" the man said and left the room.

Chapter One: The Congregation
Day One, Night

New York: William Kelly's Place
IC: Simon Drago

Simon waited outside William's door. He had the right place alright, he could smell the man through the door. He sneered as he knocked upon the door.

"William Kelly....Colonel Simon Drago. I am in need of your assistance," he called through the door.
