- The Back Story -

Sera - a once beautiful planet ravaged by the horrors of war. "Imulsion" a phosphorescent low-viscosity fluid that is similar to oil...but far more powerful and rich. Over the several decades, the Pendulum Wars took place between various human countries all struggling to gain as much "Imulsion" as possible. The War ended with the Coalition of Ordered Governments taking control of the planet.

Although the planet's problems seemed...macroscopic...in the face of what was waiting beneath them.

Emergence Day is what it’s known as, the day the Locust Horde burst from underneath major human cities using a network of underground tunnels.

Coalition forces are unable to defend against the sudden attack, and are routed as the Locust Horde take control of the major urban, military and manufacturing centers within several hours...

With human numbers dwindling ...the Coalition stages a plan...they believe will rid their planet of the infestation...

Chapter 1 Calm before the Storm

Soldiers from all over the world finally return home to their families to regain the lives that were put on hold. With the world falling into peace the things that were taken for granted become glimmers of hope for a brighter future. For now life is peaceful as everyday life continues on. The day starts off like every other day. Waking up next to your loved ones, running off to work, spending a quiet afternoon at the park or simply sleeping in -- whatever people choose to do, they would have a bright sunny day to do so. Although small tremors have been plaguing the city for several weeks now, nothing has led the experts to believe that a major earthquake is looming.

It was just like any other day, Griffin got up and went about his morning rituals. Currently he jogged around the wide vastness of green called Tranquility Park. Yea...interesting name for something so....simple. His heart matched the rhythm of each contact of his feet on the pavement. Music blaring in his ears he loved his morning run. It cleared his mind for the rest of the day and kept him completely and utterly relaxed. Today was going to be a good day...yes...he smiled....today was going to be a good day.

The time he had woke up it was 7:30 and his wife was down stairs making breakfast and kids were getting ready for school. He walked over to the window and looked onto the local park he could see a man jogging around seemed at peace with himself.he did his morning workout for 1 hour. As he got dressed and walked downstairs kissing his wife on the cheek calling his kids “time for school you two, common get in the car” smiling as his kids ran past racing each other to get to the car. It had been along time since he had been home

Her hand slammed down onto the alarm as it buzzed in her hear, a little louder than normal today for some reason. She licked her lips, dry and chapped and rubbed her eyes, pushing the sleep out of them and waiting for the new day. The sun wasn't shining yet, her blinds still down. Alyona's feet came down onto her soft carpet, a plain eggshell color like the walls in contrast with the black shades made a little vision in her mind as she noticed the color differences like usual, every morning. Every day was the same, get up, get ready, eat. Regular, always regular. Everything was in it's place, unless little Mikhal moved something when he was over at her house for lessons and even then she'd find it. Alyona's long fingers going down a set of drawers with dots of Braille on them and pulled out her clothes for the day and slipped into her shoes.

A beep went off in her ear, she reached for her palm organizer and phone and answered it, a reminder for the gig tonight at the Gala for a charity event. The usual, she touched the side and a comforting voice spoke to her, Alyona's sister reminding her of dinner before the event. She smiled a faint grin and headed for her door, grabbing her ID cane, an umbrella and her keys, heading out for her usual morning meditation in the park. The joggers feet hitting the pavement, the birds chirping their morning tirade and the trees rustling and dancing with the wind was a calm reminder of her humanity.

The park bench, cold and unnerving was a rest beneath her, a crutch you could say from life. Alyona exhaled and breathed in a new beginning.
New beginnings were always welcome.

Yawning as his internal clock told him to wake up. He turned over onto his back. Fluttering, his eyes opened and he began his daily session of sit-ups.

"28....puff....29....puff....30!" He said as he finished his early morning ritual.

Getting up, he flipped his legs over his bed and got to his feet, making his way into the kitchen. Cracking two eggs and placing some bacon rashers on the frying pan, he burned them slowly with the enrgy from his hands.

Admittedly, although he understood very little about his power, he sure enjoyed breakfast with them. Theo munched away at his energised breakfast, making sure not to spill as he swung the remote into his palm and switched the television on.

The usual stuff, weather, business, then some unsusual geometric diturbances. He switched it off, it was not important to him. His job as a military scientist was his life.

Sliding over his chair to his desk, Theo looked at his watch and then the papers below him. Inhaling, he cracked on with his work, unsuspecting that his life would change forever.

Vincent was playing videogames on his room, actually the whole apartment was his room, his bed was in the middle of the living room, it was a Sofa that turned into a bed, infront of it there was a giant Plasma HD tv, it was impossible to figure out how that thing entered the small and crappy appartment, the kitchen full of empty chip bags and soda cans. A lap top in a small table in front of the bed. Vincent hadn't slept, he had just purchased a new videogame on e-bay and they had delivered it to his place yesterday in the afternoon.

Someone knocked, Vin just yelled them to enter. The door opened and the girl that came in almost tripped with a skateboard and some used clothes.

"It's laundry day right?" said the girl with a tired voice.

"Yeah Kath, there are clothes all over the place... sorry for that... And I want pizza today..." said Vin without looking away from the Tv.

"I swear to god that if you didn't pay as much as you do I would be long gone..." said Katherine entering the only room with a door in the appartment, Vin was supposed to sleep there but he turned it into his office and the rest of the house into his dorm.

"Your appointment of 9am called in to reschedule... And Mrs Stevens is coming in today for her annual rejuvenation treatment..." said Katherine from the office. "I can't belive the amount of money they pay you... How do you do it anyway?... I haven't seen any medicines or tools around here... and I've worked for you for 2 years..."

"What you don't know doesn't hurt you Kath..." said Vin and kept on playing. "It's like magic, if I told you then the trick loses power..."

Bastion rolled out of bed, slamming the alarm clock on the way out.

"Yeah, yeah. I'm up, yadda yadda."

He said, to no one in particular, running his hand through his hair as he stumbled into the bathroom. After his usual cleaning rituals, he grabbed a black shirt, and a old green jacket, with enough holes in it to be considered swiss cheese, but still warmed him, and slipped out. He stood in the hallway of the apartment complex, and walked toward the stairs. Then, he heard his landlord's voice drift up the stairs.

"And when I find him, I will give him his walking papers. Either pay or leave. No more extensions!"

Bastion froze for a second, standing there. Then, he look left and right, processing his options.

"Awh, shi*."

He jogged down the hall, re entering his room, locking the door behind him. Then, he ran back to his bedroom, the only other room in his apartment. He forced open the window, and stepped into the air, standing on the fire escape. Bastion turned around, hopping down ladders and taking steps 2 at a time, before dropping to the alley below.

"One me, landlord zero."

He said to himself, chuckling as he turned down the alley, taking it out at a small intersection.

"Well, might as well go see if I can find a job or something."

He groaned as he walked down the street, running through job options to himself.

IC: General Cooper

General Cooper walked smoothly through the intelligence center of the local COG base. Time for the all to familiar briefing by so called experts who attempt to predict how things in the real word work. In actuality they would not know the front end of a gun. Sighing he nudges open the door, stepping into the conference room. Quickly the analysts stand saluting the old general which makes him feel quite old. Nodding to the group “At ease soldiers” he mutters scanning the room before taking a seat along with the others.

“So tell me what you have for me today” he asks rubbing his brow for a moment. Several of the analysts look to each other for a sign of who will begin. After clearing his throat a man stands up walking over to a holograph projector, flicking it on. A bluish green light appears showing a paused video. The analyst clears his throat once more before starting the briefing “Well Sir, One of are mining facilities sent up this footage” pressing the play button. Screen begins to crackle as it starts, Cooper sits frozen keeping his eyes on the screen as if the moment he pulled them away he would miss something. “Patch me through to the Senate” he commands.

Lewis woke up at the usual time to his dismay making him a little angry since this was his day off. Jogging along the path circling the park he realized that the park was the only real place he felt comfortable. A sudden pain shot through his leg causing him to stumble down towards a nearby bench. Lewis was so caught up in sitting down on the bench he accidently bumped into a lady who had already been sitting.

The bluebirds and the cardinals flew away, the sound of their wings beating was like heaven to Alyona's ears, but a sudden yelp ruined it, or at least interrupted it. Her eyes wide and staring off into space, she didn't turn her head to the man, but simply said
"It's alright." She smiled faintly to him and bowed her head a bit and looked back up to the sky.

"Is it beautiful? I hear it's the most perfect shade of blue, with splashes of white and pink."
Alyona turned her head to the man, a glimmer of curiosity filled her eyes as she saw an outline of a man, taller than her and she could see he was holding his leg. Of course, a Charley horse or pulled ligament, which is exactly why people should warm up.
Alyona giggled a bit, her ID cane folded up in her lap, her fingers running over it's smooth surface.

"The sky"
She nodded up wards, and then back down at Lewis.
Not the best way to begin the day in her opinion.

Chapter 2 Emergence

IC: Adrian Richards

The ground explodes sending concrete and dirt into the air as holes almost tunnel like appear from the various explosions zones. Cars, people, everything near the zone either is hurled away or disappears into the darkness. Many people flee but human curiosity is always present. Snarls
accompanied by inhuman voices echo through the tunnels. Time seems to freeze once the creatures burst into the light spraying the human onlookers with small arms fire. Their physical appearance alone was sending more fear through everyone. Men, women, and children the creatures did not differentiate as they began to rampage the city. Police attempt to fight back but fall under the increasing numbers of the creatures.

An emergency broadcast system kicks in as city officials begin call out for all remaining survivors to lock themselves inside their homes or seek temporary sanctuary at a designated evacuation zone. The National Guard is finally deployed into the city to battle the new threat as well as evacuating the civilians. Massive armadas of choppers begin to air lift people from the city amidst attacks from flying squid looking creatures that begin to lay waste to the aircrafts as well as blocking all radio transmissions.



The chopper group made its way into the city, weapons armed and ready to repel the flying alien attackers "Nemacyst" nicknamed by command. Several of the men double check their weaponry as the pilot signals to Adrian to ready the men for drop. Nodding he flips the green light allowing the soldiers to repel into the city before preparing himself to do the same.

“"Incoming!"” the pilot screams as Nemacyst spiral in towards the chopper. Turrets open up all around, Adrian hooking himself onto the zip line before sliding down to the ground. Quickly unhooking him self from the line, reuniting with the squad.

“"Sir, orders?"” asks a soldier in the back of the group. Narrowing his brow Adrian pulls out a small map detailing the evacuation zones. "The other squads have already secured the evac zones but its are job to pick up the stragglers and lead them to this point but remember the squids are blocking are communications so stay in close proximity, Move out!"” the soldiers disappearing into the streets.

As William's kids jumped into the car the ground exploded causing the car to sink into the ground. A large roar echoes from the pit as a huge fire ball erupts from the now smoldering tunnel.

Lewis turned his head partly due to his confusion of what the girl was talking about and the other part tying to figure out how blind she was. Slightly smiling he begins to rub the cramp out of his leg "It's a very beautiful day. Sorry again" looking up to her for a brief moment. "But its" “his words being interrupted by the explosion in the pond sending water and dirt through the air. The force of the explosion hurling them backwards off the bench. A thick piece of rock cutting his cheek, causing him to reach up with his throbbing hand.

Griffin had started running once more when an explosion forced him onto his back, knocking the air from his lungs, leaving him gasping as he curled up on his side, shielding his head from the bits of earth and bark flying every which way. Finally able to breath he lets off a cough which combines with the dirt all around him, created a cloud of duct.

Once seems seemed to of settled, Griffin slowly took his hands from his face and watched as in the distance screams pierced the sky as humans everywhere, old and young, fell victim to the...things...emerging from the ground. Hearing the sounds of a chopper, Griffin squints up at the sky as one flies over head. Figuring if he had to be anywhere, do anything...might as well do what he did best.

Picking himself up he heads in the direction of the chopper as he notices a man and woman on their backs, the remains of a bench scattered about them. He extended his gloved hands to the fallen two to help them out

Alyona was blown back, everything happened in an instant. Her emotions overwhelmed her, she didn't know whether to be upset, scared or angry. She felt a trickle of blood down her face as her fingers reached up to her forehead and felt out a large gash on her face, but not before hearing screams of terror all around her, and a clam air rushed over here, she felt someone standing next to her, a weird feeling she always got. She quickly scrambled to her hands and knees and felt out for something, a hand, a foot a limb and found what she was looking for. Tears streaming down, cutting through the dirt on her face she gripped the hand and held on like nothing, pulling herself up and looking around, everything a blur as shapes and objects moved so quickly, everything was a dream to her.

Alyona's voice was weak and cracked, trapped by tears and fright, she could barely squeak out the words

"Hello!" In a panicked tone, but something was serene about the owner of the hand.
Quickly, she remembered the man next to her, and motioned around to try and get a feel where he was, or where his body was.
Her breathing was heavy, it was just the beginning.

Chapter 2 Emergence

Bastion trudged along the street, when a massive hole wrenched forth from the ground. Huge hulkling creatures came from it.

"Holy sh**...."

Then, one spotted him and set fire upon him. Bastion ducked, slightly too late as the pain from his upper arm surged through him. He winced, and bit down on his lip. He crouched and ran into the nearby convience store, just as the cashier, an older man, rose from behind the counter, a handgun, almost as big as the man's hands, in his hands.

Bastion darted in between a sweets counter and a produce rack, as he heard the gun discharge, and the twinkling of glass as the windows that saw through the outside were blown away. He ran into the fire escape door, barely glancing back behind him, just in time to see the cashier get shot, his body seemingly dancing, like being pulled by a ventriloquist's strings.

"Oh my f***ing Jesus."

He said to himself, under his breath, as he spun away from the door, and down the alley, catching some glances of people get mowed down by the things, and mostly people running away. He ran into the mass of people running off.

"Where the h*** are we going?!"

He yelled into the mass, just as an Emergence hole opened in front of the mass, taking the front of the mob with the ground. Bastion turned, running into a bar. He dove as he entered, and looked about. It seemed empty enough. He turned around, shutting and locking the door. Now, where would be safe? Wine Cellar!

He hopped the bar, and ran into the back room, noticing a small trap door on the floor. Better safe than sorry, he thought, dropping down into the dank, one lightbulb room. Now, I guess I wait this out.

Vincent was playing when explosions were heard... Choppers began passing above his building.

"Wow... talk about surround sound..." said Vin as he let out his videogame for the first time in the last 14 hours and tunned the Tv, images of the city and what was happening started appearing.

"Hey Kath!..." said Vin a little freak out to his assistant. "Are you watching what I'm watching?"

"Yes... What the hell are those things?" said Kath appearing behind him watching the tv.

"I don't know.. but they have guns... a lot of guns and they are attacking the city..." said Vin.

"We need to go Vin... Get the hell away from here..." said Kath.

"And let those things destroy my apartment and my city... The hell I go... I won't leave here, if they are coming for me they are in for a hell of a fight..." said Vin.

"What the hell are you talking about Vin? What could you possibly do against those things?..." said Kath really freaked out and almost leaving.

"A few things..." he said as he grabbed a can and made it time pass by, a lot of it turning to dust and the remaining parts really rusted. "You wanted to know why I charged so much..."

Kath closed the door and speechless sat next to Vin as they continued to watch the news.

Lewis felt a soft hand move across his hand as the roars of creatures could be heard not to far off. Finally his eyes are able to latch onto the man who had his hand extended offering them help. Mind was racing around everything that just happened causing Lewis to pull himself to his feet. The pain which was causing his head to ache slowly died down.
"Are you both ok?"” his words showing the various aches and pains he was going through.

Bullets mowed down dozens of civilians as Raven ducked underneath a nearby truck. Catching her breath franticly as the creatures passed by or so she thought. With one quick push the truck was hurled backwards revealing herself to the creatures. Their skins cracked and dry as if the ground itself came alive to attack her. Leaping up to her feet she makes a desperate run for a nearby bar quickly gaining entrance, slamming the door shut. Praying for a miracle seemed almost pointless as death seemingly marched towards her.

After Kat and Vincent fight briefly on what they should do the world’s problems continue to escalate. Creatures flood out of the emergence holes, destroying anyone and everything they encounter. Apartment buildings are no exception as several creatures armed with grenades begin to lob them through the apartment windows. “Nemacyst” smash the dirty windows to Vince’s apartment zipping across the room at the two occupants. Several grenades follow the “Nemacyst” which land variously throughout the room. Quick reactions the only thing left that can save Vince’s life.

Griffin nodded as he looked himself over. Nothing was broken and the few cuts and bruises he had would heal. He grinned to himself at the thought. Glancing up at the creatures he looks back down at the man, having seen the woman could not see very well. All they needed was a deaf person and they'd be the three 'no evil' monkeys...or whatever crazy animals and figures they came up with for the trio.

Griffin pointed to the man, then the woman, and then himself, gesturing off in the direction of the chopper and twirled his wrist round as his index finger was raised, making the motion of a propeller. He nodded and turned to shove off.

IC: Bastion Jacobs

Bastion coughed into his hand, as he scanned the dusty wine cellar shelve, looking for anything to help him. Short of a gun, he was screwed. Majorly. He walked to the back of the cellar, his eyes catching on a miracle and a curse. An old, no idea how old, rifle. It looked more likely to misfire than to kill anything, but, he needed some form of safety, and a plank pulled off the wine boxes sure wasn't it. He picked up the rusted old weapen, just as a loud noise occured upstairs. Bastion gripped the old rifle, instictively checking for ammo.

"One round. Just my luck today."

He stepped toward the cellar stairs, keeping the barrel pointed toward the floor, as he opened the cellar doors.

"Anyone home? I...I have a gun. So..don't screw with me."

"s***!" said Vin as grenades entered the room and the Nemacyst made the huge TV crumble and fall.

"Hold on!" said Vin and jumped at one grenade, extending his hand and grabbing the other grenade with his other hand, as long as he touched both he could made them so they were in the time before explosion then as the Nemacyst made it's way out Vin threw the grenades back at it through the window.

"Move... Go to the stairs!" said Vin to Kath. "Quick!"

He started moving and grabbed Kath pushing her down stairs until they reached ground level.

IC: Raven Spire
Raven leaped as she heard a voice calling out from the back of the bar. Raising her hands to show that she was unarmed “Please help me?” her voice cracking a bit from her mouth being so dry. The sound of approaching footsteps causes the ground to tremble a bit. Quickly Raven moves away from the door as it bursts open, creatures pouring in. With a deep breath she leaps out from behind the pool table kicking the assault rifle from the beast’s hands. Another creature lunges for her neck, pinning her up against the wall. The creatures grip nearly one squeeze away from breaking her neck in two.

As the two made their way down the stairs a large creature armed with what looked like a grenade launcher stopped, aiming its weapon. Before it could muster a shot a sniper bullet pierced its head. A small group of soldiers motioned for the two to get onto the back of their hummer. Several creatures slowly making their way out of a nearby emergence tunnel. One of the soldiers from the hummer leaps down preparing to toss a grenade into the hole only to end up being riddled with bullets, the grenade rolling towards Vincent’s feet.

Vince stood on the grenade making it stop in time as Kath got in the Hummer. Once she was safe he kicked the grenade to the hole and jumped into the Hummer.

"Anyone caring to tell me what the hell is going on here?... Someone owes me a hell of an explanation..." he said more furious to the fact his apartment was trashed.

"That was a 57" plasma tv!!!" yelled Vince.

"You're an idiot..." said Kath. "It's like you're 12 years old..."

"I'm not... but keep on pushing me and maybe you will..." said Vin menacely as the soldiers watched the couple fight.
