Future peter still has a scar... has he lost he's immortality? or someone taken away his healing power?

I agree that this is a very interesting thing they decided to leave in. I mean first of all, we've seen the scar before.. but secondly... how did he get a scar if he can heal? Hmmm I guess only time will tell >_<

maybe its something more than peter's powers can heal

Well I'm thinking he gets his scar this way;
His Healing power some how gets taken away. Whether by his dad or the eclips. If you don't have the power during a fight and get hurt. You can't heal.
Future is pretty confusing.

The self-inflicted theory doesnt work
Remember, Claire kept cutting herself (so did Adam/Kensei) and they kept healing...
So why not Peter??

I think he was in a fight that has touched him very deeply, maybe he had to kill somebody close to him or it could be a symbol for his own guilt for what has happened in the world.
Maybe he thinks he deserves the scar, he can of course heal but he chooses to keep it.

He, of-course, has the power to heal it, or "shape-shift it out". The most reasonable theory I heard is, that he chooses to make it appear, because it has some sort of symbolic significance to him. And, in the present - it's, of-course, the best way for him "to show" others that he is futurePeter, and not present...

i thought that most of the heroes lose their powers sometime this season due to someone or something, i assume that peter got the scar while he didnt have his powers, and maybe hiro gave it him cuz he did show some traits of a villain from wat weve seen from the future scenes

i heard or read somewhere that we find out why he has the scar in series (or volume) 6 or 7 (thats what they have planned anyways)..
personally i always liked the idea that some kind of object (ie heroes sword) gave him the un-healable scar (not that i have any evidence to back this up.. just what i think would be cool)
ps. dont ask me for a link cause i really dont know where i heard/read it

But he obviously has his powers back, and if he does wouldn't this mean that the scar would heal regardless?
Maybe the power has evolved and he can determine what heals?
But i definitely like the idea of an unhealable scar.

Since everyone else beat me to it, I can only say "I agree" with the theories that Peter simply keeps the scar on purpose. Who's to say that an "evolution" of the healing ability is deciding what gets to be healed and what doesn't?
Although, I love the idea of someone having a power that negates other people's power permanently. Kind of like what the Haitian does, but just not temporarily. He or she would be a big threat to Peter/Sylar...

i agree that he can control when to heal and when not to heal. the scar... to remember a person? an event? just what exactly does it means?

In the preview of further episodes we see him tied on a table with others next to him that get experimented with in the future. "Dark Claire" stands above him with chirurgical equipment cutting him. so I guess we can safely say that future claire is the one that gives him the scar and the reason why it didn't healed was because he couldn't at that time due to prevention/interference of others.
I always thought knox would be the one but it seems that I was wrong.

This is a cut and paste job. From the theories section for Peter's scar on Wiki.
+ In the Dark Future, Peter seems to take on any request Hiro asks because of his guilt of the explosion, after 5 years Peter has not been able to forgive himself and seems to be guided by the emotions of guilt.
+ Within the real world there have been cases where people unable to heal from a wound because of emotional reasons or to have causd damage to their bodies because of an emotional reasons such as broken heart syndrome.

Maybe it was this way in 5YG.

Even he has the scar again, in this future timeline it seems that it comes from future claire the way I mentioned above.
At least it looks this way in the trailer I saw and he doesn't seem to have the scar at that time YET but probably happens in the process.

The event that is going to make this scar obviously happened in the build up to 5YG. C'mon Raekon, your usually quite sharp.

Well the problem is that things are changing through the timelines and when I saw claire
with a scalpel in her hand and peter the way he was under my spoiler tags and what she were doing to him while he had no scar yet....
It hints that they are going this way in this timeline.
No clue how he got it in the 5YG timeline (could had been knox as I thought or a other event we don't know about) but in this future timeline he seems to be getting it in a different way.
He event hints to future claire with "they are hunting us down, testing, experimenting on us".
In that preview
she seemed to be part of the testing crew while he was a testing "object". :/
Other than that the 5YG timeline can't happen anymore and the virus one changed as well.

It seems his destiny to get the scar, he had it in 5YG but he saved the world so that reality in the future didn't exist any more, so he shouldn't get it. Now he has it again in 1st episode (the 2nd coming) and 4 years on, this time it looks more pronounced across the face like the 'God send' symbol ie he has been split in half across his face and this affects him, perhaps personality, mentally etc
I like the new Peter and It seems he is now trying to play some sort of god like role which is cool.
How he got this scar, unsure still too many posibility but is what i call one of the writers magicians story's we have all wanted to know how it got from the moment we heard Hiro meet Peter on the underground, and its still one of my favourite lines from the 1st series :-)

Maybe they kept it this way because Future Peter with Scar was such a hit with the fans. But this is Future Peter 2.0 so the theory for Future Peter 1.0 doesn't count for this one, they don't have the same lives since it all changed. Whoever has done it, its something Peter chooses to keep since he can alter his appearance easily and chooses not to. That would suggest maybe that somebody did it that meant much to him or an even that Peter doesn't want to forget. Whatever the reason, it looks to me as if its a reminder

Maybe the Haitian was around when he got the cut....or maybe someone else with the same abilities! However the cut was then too deep to recover from so it left a scar....

Yeah I wonder where the Haitian is now......and it could be a reason though as soon as Peter gained his powers again, it would have healed, no matter how long the time. Else he couldn't come back from the shard of glass in his head either.
Btw, love your siggie Tammy, it's great!
