Yeah, even if you do download, have the episode on in the background on as many TVs in your house as possible and tell your friends the same! It will count towards the ratings.

from what i understand, theres only certain people who need to watch it on t.v.

the people who participate in the program that collects ratings (think its nelson or something like that *shrug im not from the u.s lol)

meh.. i could be totally wrong as well

i don't know about the US but in the UK ratings are measured by BARB which only bases figures on 5,100 homes.

Same kind of thing here in Canada. Even if I had 12 TVs on, it wouldn't change a thing.

If that were the way TV ratings worked, I think TV would be better. But sadly, they only take a small part of the population and put modems on their TV's to know what are they watching. Then they do math with the data to make up statistics. So it's not that accurate. You can read about it in How Stuff Works.
It's annoying that the TV networks (as any corporation) only care about getting more and more money, so if a TV show is not popular enough, thus not giving them enough money, they cancel it, even of it's still popular for us, the people who actually watch the shows. Let's hope that Heroes doesn't pass through this! (Do you know the show Carnivale, from HBO? It was a great show, but it was canceled at the end of the 2nd season, even if there were obvious loose ends to the plot, just because they didn't want to spend more money on it. Shame on them, but we the fans have to suffer).

i cant wait for this episode. Lol, in Australia we dont have modems for ratings, people just get given a sheet of paper and are asked to tick what they watched at what times and were. i wish we had modems

Here in Germany, the ratings are quite good, as far as I know. I try watching it, though, although the dubbing is just horrible!!

I couldn't watch Heroes, I have classes on monday from 9 am till 9 pm, so i have very little chance to catch it on tv. the last day of the semester is almost here for me so DL it is the only way for me to keep up.
