Full Version: WOW. very well linked series of events. but elle and sylar's history?!
Got Heroes > Heroes: Episode Discussion > Season Three > Volume Three: Villains > 3x08 - "Villains"
NATamura
It's indeed a small world.

who would know Meredith would be the one who caused the train wreck, in which claire would use her powers for good the first time.

it's really a chain reaction, or a butterfly effect if you put it that way.

but what i dont get is, in volume 2, the last episode, did slyar recongise elle when she Zapped him.

like slyar: omg, it's elle. my ex lover...blah. *PIZZZ runs away*
i didnt really get the scenes of the couple. like was it before sylar killed chandra or what?
Shadowrun
He didn't seem to recognize her when she attacked him. Then again he was in a hurry and he might not have gotten a good look at her.

Also, It was awesome how they connected everything the way that they did.

yeah very well linked to the pilot episode. like when i saw the train scene i didnt really think about it's significances. then when meredith and thomson were walking overhead. then when i saw the full view. i was like wow, IT'S CLAIRE'S SCENE TOO!
theVOID
Judging by all of their previous encounters i would have said there was no way that this relationship existed. Seems really poorly written to me, like the writers didn't have this planned from the get go.

That's actually the feeling i get from heroes a lot of the time, that the writers are just making it up as they go, rather than having a concrete storyline set out before they started, explains why we see so many possible plot holes or shady goings on story wise.
Lolzerzomg
I feel the same way for the show Lost, they keep making things up as well sad.gif

You don't watch lost much obviously? Sure it's scripted on an episode by episode basis, but the timeline is concrete.

I must admit, I agree with theVoid - I'm really into heroes, but the tacked on feel frustrates me (the graphic novel quality, sylar petrelli etc). I may watch online, but i'm from the uk and i watch on tv too. I hate how american telly is so obsessed with ratings, that the loyal fanbase are often pushed aside. I am a lost lover, and sure it's complicated, but you do feel that everything's connected, and eventually it will all be explained. Heroes feels like they need to sit down, work out where they're going (this series and beyond) and then proceed.

That being said, I enjoyed this ep (bar the time inconsistencies) . Meredith flame throwing was cool.

And for a tacked on feeling storyline, I do enjoy Sylar/Elle. It sort of works in the show as in their previous encounter he was in "Sylar" mode, and in the cut season 2 dvd extra scenes he's all sylary, and she does give a little reaction. It's semi plausible. I am prepared to forgive them though because I love Sylar and Gabriel, Elle's cool, together they're adorable, and Zach and Kristen are great. laugh.gif

you get this feeling because the writers didn't have this planned out. you may not have heard or my have forgotten but we had a writers strike where season 2 was cut short, the "real" season to was supposed to play out with the virus getting released and odessa being blocked off and quarantined, but instead they got cut short. They had to change the last episode they filmed to end the season. then they didn't have writers again until just a little while before season 3 started filming. i think the production company felt they had to rush into another season before they lost the fans completely...
anyways back to what i was saying. this season wasn't planned out very well and they are just playing it by ear...
i say just give the writers a break, and let them catch up and get there breath and figure out what they are doing, and work out a storyline for next season something with fewer "plotholes"(i hate that word) and something that fills in the blanks.

For that Sylar and Elle my best feeling is when the company caught Sylar after "Homecoming" The Haitian managed to erase Elle. So they couldn't trace it back to Noah and Elle being the masterminds.

Imagine what someone like Matt could find out if he read Sylar's mind at the time.

They possibly could of eliminated Elle's memory too of this whole event.

So the next time Elle saw Sylar she would know nothing of it.

I was really amazed how everything came together though. I couldn't believe when I saw that Meredith and Claire's scene connecting.

I was also in stitches at start trying to remember who the grey haired man with the cool voice was. I was like where have I seen this guy before. lol. Oh my god! I know it it's that bad guy from S1. Thomson that's his name. Do you think he asked for Claire for Meredith to give her back to Mummy. (Cause if you go back to S1 he tells Noah that now that they know Claire has a power he has to give her up to the company. And that's when Noah starts to swap sides.)

Not to mention the whole HRG and Mohinder just happening to connect quite well too.

Also did Claire save Flint? I think I recall her saving the fire chief. rather than Flint.... Probably have to watch the Pilot after this just to see where it all comes together. Four Months Ago might help too.

In "Powerless" when Elle lurk on Mohinder Lab surveillance cam in her father's PC, she said "Sylar", when she saw him, so she knew him.
In "The Butterfly effect" Sylar said to Elle (calling her with her name)- "I've killed a lot of people, Elle, and you are as much to blame for that as anyone, maybe even more so".

and we miss all the Sylar/Elle interaction from season 2, we have the untold stories from 2,12 e 2,13 mostly concentrated on them...

Good points.

I don't think this was a huge relationship. Looks like they met, she had pie, and the dinner was their first date. Unless HRG is a pervert, they weren't anything really and it all went out the window.

It's extremely interesting to see Heroes explore the issue of the butterfly effect. I'm anxious to see how everything plays out.

alright! singaporean dude.
Cylar
Singaporeans united. haha.
Anyway regarding plot holes. Sylar and Elle.. Sylar did blame her for making him what he is, but that's only in Season 3. I guess in Season 2 the encounters were too brief for much talking between the two... And Elle kept telling her dad she can handle him, if I recall correctly, and Bob kept saying no... so she is implying she knows him... from before

Cant stand LOST but I would tentatively agree with you on this one.
They did not connect and on this one thing they definitely made it up after.
(no matter how they try to tie it all in now)

Sylar Blames everyone for making him what he is!!

Chandra Suresh, Elle you name it, no one made him what he is he had the hunger no matter what
unless he was injected to make him so, which is unlikely as Angela said Nathan was the only one who's
powers did not manifest.

Their encounter in "Powerless" was rubbish, I agree. Sylar didn't at all seem to recognise Elle. I mean seriously, even in the heat of things, he would have recognised her, and there would have been a moment of shock. Just another Season 2 inconsistency

But their relationship was not tacked on at all IMO. It was most definitely planned. In "The Butterfly Effect", he seems to be quite familiar with Elle, blaming her for his hunger (which she was as we just found out). And we're gonna be seeing more of their relationship later this season btw, as Elle has just gone into Pinehearst

agreed... what i've been trying to say... heroes has gotten increasingly frustrating in this matter...

Er, maybe read heroeswiki's time line... only after you're done with that then perhaps judge if Heroes timeline is concrete or not.
