Full Version: Synthetic Vs Naturals

Just throwing a wild theory here.

Could there be a difference between those who acquire abilities via injection, and those born with it?
Injected people probably end up with the more uncool stuff... Flight, Super Speed, Lightning...

Whereas naturals have a chance to have the imba stuff, like.. empathic mimicry, intuitive aptitude, radiation manipulation, precognition, time/space manipulation.

Cos it'd be really chaotic if in the future, everyone has imba abilities like IA, EM, Radiation, or weather control, or geothermal manipulation, or tidal manipulation (making up some really powerful sounding abilities as I go along).

Everyone has their own unique genetic code which determines what kind of powers they have. The ability-induction injection sorta just causes the ability inside to manifest. There's not much difference between the naturals and the synthetics, its just that the naturals' powers awaken well, naturally, while the synthetics need the injection to activate and awaken their powers.

So...I don't agree that synthetics tend to have more "uncool" abilities.

Haha i am wondering, does the quantity of the injection which gives powers means different levels of power. Like if you inject 500cc of the liquid instead of 50cc of it, it amplifies parkman's power 10 times and imagine being able to control everyone on earth all at the same time tongue.gif

Well, I felt flight superspeed and stuff were more common in the future street scene... then again those ARE travelling powers so naturally they are seen being used to travel... then those walking the streets normally probably wield Cryo, Pyro.. etc. cool future, though very dangerous, we need a lot of haitians to maintain law and order.

I believe there is a difference between those with acquired abilities and those with natural ones, F_Peter even heavily hints so this season.
We've seen two new symbols this season: my avatar "godsend" symbol, which is what I believe is the symbol for natural abilities both good & evil, and the new Pinehurst symbol for those who have synthesized abilities.

I believe the dividing point will be that the ones who's abilities are natural will see themselves as "chosen" where the ones from the injection will be seen as "man-made" not "chosen" by a higher power.

laugh.gif like what "Heroids?"

Ah, so maybe.. the possible reason for the war and ending of the world in the future... is discrimination arising from synthetic or natural abilities.. and I think probably Sylar's going nuclear was also a catalyst for disaster...

I dont undertsnad that in the future we saw lots of people flying etc: If each genetic gene is different, the majority of people wont have the 'flight gene', however unless they discover how to override this and just inject a choice of genes into humans then that would be understandable. Because by the looks of the future it looked like everyday people could buy abilities. "I'll have super-speed today please."

You would need Haitians as police officers to clamp down laugh.gif

Well, flying is maybe the simplest way to show us that everyone got a power... I mean, if someone got a flame thrower power or TK, they can't use it in the streets of new york. So the reason could simply be that flying is the best show off. They wanted us to focus on "people have powers" not WHICH powers people possessed.

Yeah, and besides, flying is one of the cheaper powers to display.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I understand, everyone has got those genes, they're just not active in everyone. 'Cause I don't think, they are changing the genetic code with the injection. Mohinder says, the genetic code is different so it's gonna be different powers and not Maya's. And we see he's right, his powers are different (creepy, but different wink.gif )
... So this means they just activate the "slumbering" genes for powers.

And if that is so, there is a question in my head: What about people with already active genes?
Like Peter, even if Arthur took his powers, his genes are active 'cause I don't think by taking an ability Arthur changes the genetic code. So, I remember reading somewhere, maybe the formula works, but not the way Arthur wants it to work.
And I think, that could be true, 'cause if this formula activates the genes or codes for abilities, it's NOT working on people with abilities(even if they're lost) because the genes are already active.

Basic biology: Different cells in your body have different parts of the DNA active. The DNA is used to create different proteins in your body, and depending on which part of the DNA that is activated, you get different proteins.
Consequently, by unlocking parts of the DNA a special protein is created that somehow results in a power.

So if Arthur's power unlocks those DNA segments, you won't be able to "create" power anymore, but you still have some left. Peter's power, on the other hand, stopped working immediently, and therefore something else must be involved, that gets blocked. Likely something in the brain.

Gone a bit overboard here. Basic Science, yes, but Basic Science Fiction?
