Full Version: What if Nathan WAS born with an ability...

Lupus
I'm not saying it is like this, it is just a thought I would like to share.

Some abilities seem to get passed on through generations, and especially in the Petrelli family where the father and the sons have some kind of power that collects other abilities. Angela said that Nathan was born without power... But what if he also had a power which was extremely dangerous, and therefore Arthur took it. Instead they gave him a new power.

Maybe it would be totally unnecessary for the series to include such story, I don't know. What do you think?

I will probably get a comment that says that this already has been discussed, like everything else new guys come up with... I couldn't find anything anyway.

I like it... and I haven't seen it on any other threads.

yea good theory

Would make Nathan less boring to me wink.gif

I dont think that wouldve happened beause if nathan had some kind of mimicry ability and his father took it from him and then injected him with the formula nathan would recieve the same ability back. So im pretty sure nathan was born a normal.

I think you're onto to something, Nathan's case or not.

I don't think they just injected people. Why stop there? Why not try to 'improve' already existing abilities? I'm thinking Claire is 'special' because she was born with the rapid regen ability, but they altered it before handing her off to Noah.

The Company didn't know about Claire's power until the episode where Thompson sees Claire regenerate from Ted's radiation. In Company Man, we see The Company tell Noah not to get too attatched to Claire because, if she manifested, he would have to hand her back to The Company. They did not know about Claire's ability.

In the recent episode Angela talks about Peter becoming a great man to Arthur once his ability manifests,.... did she know his ability? If so, then they knew what Claire was when handing her over to Noah. It seemed like an important meeting. I think the company knew.

I think rather that Angela may have known but not the company, cuz it seems the founders, ie Bob, Arthur, Linderman, etc., function and go about things w/o the company knowing. This is like Season 1, idr where exactly, but HRG was completely stumped by what some of the founders knew. To me, this only reiterates Carp in the fact that the company "workers" like Thompson, did not know about Claire.

Cheers for the original poster,.... smile.gif

What if Adam was the first evolved human and Linderman is a relative of him,... they share closely linked abilities.

Then Linderman goes to Arthur and later on both he and Angela are given powers, and as Nathan was already born he was given the same gift.

I see your point, but I'd say that was more or less Thompson not knowing everything, since we know a Founder always ran it; he answered to someone, presumably Linderman.

The formula may not be a guarantee someone will manifest; after all, Arthur wants it improved for some reason. Also, the Company obviously had genetic technology to identify markers 30 years ago already (they knew Nathan didn't have the marker).

I'm not saying they knew what Claire had, just that she may have been experimented on as a special case. Easy enough, as there was no one looking for her.

Maybe Nathan is special, just not in the way of abilities like the rest of the Petrelli family. What if the Heroes and Villains have it wrong and the catalyst is Nathan and not Claire? Nathan may not have ben blessed with abilities, but he was blessed by being the catalyst.

i really hope they make nathan as special as possible... he looks really weak compared to the other petrellis...

This goes perfectly with the graphic novel. Linderman approached Petrelli about founding the company after nathan was born.

Actually it was mentioned in a previous comic that Nathan was walking. Well, Angela says "our son" so for all we know she could have been talking about Gabriel, but at the time that comic was put out it was meant to insinuate Nathan.

I actually remember the GN,.... I posted the pic of Nathan playing in front of Arthur in a crazy post about something else ages ago. Here it is.

Thats Linderman at his door with his proposition.

Last episode Arthur said Kaito "hid it" referring to Claire.

Based on that information one could speculate Kaito foresaw the implications associated with Claire's ability/genes/blood and certain founders agenda's. Then offered to 'handle' the testing later feigning ignorance regarding her abilities after giving her to the Company/Noah to safeguard. I doubt there was direct communication of intricate details between the founders and agents.

Also, If I remember correctly Angela had an affair with Kaito at some point during their tenure, which backs up some of the theories discussed here.

That is a really interesting idea.

But how could they have found the formula by themselves? Or did Lindermans ability also include healing power blocked DNA?
