Yeah, yeah, woohoo, Powerless Peter saves the day.....hooray. mellow.gif

I just can't see the joy in this. I'm still too sad that they've castrated my favorite Hero. It was bad enough when they cut off his hair and mysteriously lost his trenchcoat. I really did try to take it all in stride, but now I'm over it and I'm ready for this phase of his journey to be over.

In all fairness, this isn't just the FanGirl in me talking. I was equally upset when they did this to Sylar in S2. I get that it's a plot device and it's a method of taking the uber-powerful down a rung or 2, but I just don't enjoy it.

Peter will be powerless for sometime according to hints by the writers.

i'm sure once he gets his powers back he'll be able to do something even more spectacular. but it is anoying watching them struggle to do something they've always been able to do before.

Whats more annoying is that while all the villains are getting ready all the heroes are looking not so good.

Every Heroes forum complains all the time about how dumb Peter is at times. Peter is going to be powerless for quite a while and be using his brain.

This is going to be the current theme of the show, focusing on how each one reacts without powers. How long this will go for, I don't know.

Peter losing his abilities might turn out to be a good thing actually.

Its possible that Peter will once again become the most powerful hero with the loss of his ability before the others, after the eclipse. As he would be the most adapted to dealing with situations without abilities. So he will rise amongst the heroes and lead them to deflate the villains before the eventual showdown in episode 13 'The War'.

Of course by then, they will all probably have their abilities back, very likely as a result of mohinder's research of the formula and claire as the catalyst. But who knows what peter would have done to deflate, demoralise the villains while they are all abilities-less.

They always need to keep somekind of check on Peter and Hiro, a reason they won't use their power to full extend, else they are just too powerfull. Peter is overly dramatic and Hiro naive and lately he doesn't want to time travel anymore.
The same counts for Matt and Sylar to a degree. If Matt could watch from a distance and get a good view of what's happening he could be a powerfull player, nearly no one could stop, but they send him to africa, keep a "spy" near him something like that. Sylar is constant struggling with his power, with his friends/family, his past, his personality.

It's the same reason that you know Arthur is going to die or become powerless. He's too powerfull to keep around. Everyone who seriously becomes a problem can be killed by him without much more than a thought. It's teleport, steal powers, disintergrate.

i actually don't mind Peter losing his powers (as long as its not for too long). now he's actually using his head instead of powers to resolve things

I agree... it's like Usutu said to Hiro: "You were relying too much on your power and forgot how to use your head."

I like powerless Peter. It's more heroic than empowered Peter!
Triton
The scene was reminiscent of a good old-fashioned goodies vs baddies shootout. Even with her immortality, Claire was no match against two brutes. But, just like in any classic situation, Peter with his wits saved the day.

And when the eclipse comes around again, Heroes will revert to being just a good old-fashioned messy family feud, with maybe a bitter divorce settlement thrown in wink.gif
tiny0fairy
thats one very bitter family feud... but as long as the world is saved i'm not fussy about the divorce settlement, who know's it could be the world biggrin.gif

I think the recent promo pics of Peter in 'Our Father' prove that Peter will be powerless for a while.

Do you mean he'll be powerless into volume 4? cause that would suck. i want him to regain his powers soon.
Dejitaru
I think it's sad, now that Peter is stripped of powers, his hair and his fit trenchcoat how blindingly obvious it is that any personality he once had in Season 1 has leaked out of his ocular cavities. sad.gif

Tbh I think the writing team listen to the fans too much. But I'm actually liking this season, and look forward to the dynamic of normals maybe having the upper hand.
tiny0fairy
it will be interesting to see whether the good guys can win without uses there powers so much....
they rely to much on them, there still human no matter what they think
jamesmcskeane
I think Peter losing his powers is more to do with the writers over cooking the goose a little.

There is a fine line where writers drag things out too long where fans lose interest in the show and the other side of things where everything happens really fast and we fly through the progression of a character and a story. The second makes for good viewing but it can leave little room in how to adpat new and more interesting stories moving forward.

Most shows have a plot that it works towards same as movie, classic case in point - The Matrix. First one was a great story and good ending, but the ending made an all powerful being which left little for challenging villians to bring an interesting story line in the sequal - In the second movie they had to back peddal - Making the story questionable!

I think the same has now happened with Peter, too powerful too fast no one could touch him but makes the fight for good and evil all too easy!!

Just my thought on it.

according to kristens blog another petrelli brother will lose their powers and arthur's reign as master villain will be challenged,
obviously it points to sylar because hes the only one powerful enough to challenge arthur, and I cant see Nathan challenging his father because he cant really do much.
So somewhere along the line arthur might remove sylars powers for turning against him.
I have no idea why they writers would do this, sylars already lost his powers once before and now he has learnt his full potential of his abilities and the writers are just going to take them away again? I think it would be a bad move for the show but i guess we'll just have to wait and see.

If the whole petrelli brother losing a power is true, I would believe it to be Sylar to lose the powers and Nathan to take Arthur on. Peter and Nathan are seen searching for the Haitian in still shots of the next episodes so with the Haitian, anybody can just walk up and shoot him or have an old fashion brawl. I mean, losing the power to fly? He barely uses it anyways and I'm sure its not that great a power to have when its cold outside.

It all point towards the eclipse.

Another petrelli brother will lose his power, due to the eclipse, and along with all the other heroes and villains. How can anyone not know this after watching the preview trailer to the next episode. And with everyone ability-less, of course Arthur's position as the master villain will be challenged. As he will be just like everyone else... Human...
