Any Doctor Who (or Torchwood) fans here? I'm a fan of the recent series, since the 2005 revival.

Favourite episodes? Favourite Doctors? Whatever. =)
Aerdna
This show was recommended to me by someone at school, and I've kind of been wanting to watch it since Chris Eccleston signed onto Heroes, but I haven't gotten around to it yet...
heroesrocks
I watched the first episode that was on at Christmas day in 2005? I didn't watch it again for some strange reason lol
TelekineticRenegade
ooh, I've been watching Doctor Who recently, but it was the end of the second season that went into the beginning of the second season on sci fi, so I saw Doomsday and nearly cried.
I really liked Rose!!
TeddyBear616
Its such a good show I like the 2nd episode the end of the world and the third episode the unquiet dead. I have it on dvd. Yeah Christopher Eccleston who plays Claude in Heroes is the 9th doctor. He is funny in the show too. I like in the first episode Rose is trying to talk to him and he is in the kitchen getting choked by the plastic arm.

Yeah, that episode had a particularly sad ending. But, if you're an immortal Time Lord, your life is gonna' be full of beginnings and endings. I tend to like the series as a whole, except for the episodes where the British campiness takes over the storyline. I used to watch it 20 years ago on PBS when they were playing the classic Tom Baker run, and have been a fan ever since.

I adore Doctor Who and Torchwood, finally something decent to come out this side of the world television wise. Fave doctor has to be David Tennant, he's just well fantastic, hes so eccentric in it. Its great! Which is totally different to a lot of the other roles he has had.

So Rose has gone.... and whoops there goes Martha. Next Catherine Tate? Am I the only one slightly worried about this decision. Yes I love Catherine Tate in her shoe and well yes she was borderline okay in the christmas special but I'm just a smidge worried. David really gets down to the nitty gritty with those emotional scenes and I just don't know how she would fit in. But who knows might be surprised!

Torchwood again, very much enjoyed apart from everyone jumping in bed with everyone else lets hope they tone that down next series... Yes we get it, its adult! LOL

Ha, Captain Jack's in Torchwood so I guess I wouldn't expect anything less than lots of stuff like that.
I think Martha's coming back mid 4th series. I like her, but she still isn't Rose sad.gif. And Donna got sort of annoying but she was pretty funny.
Lyndermans_Sword_Protector
Doctor Who???
One of the best shows on television apart from Heroes laugh.gif
When i saw it in 2005 i was amazed.
And because im like still a teenager,
I havent been around to see it from 1963.
So i have watched some old episodes with like, peter davison and tom baker. And after watching the thrid series with David Tennant anf Freema Argeman. I dnt know wheter the old series was better.
But the Christopher Eccleston series was absolutley fantastic. I even cried in the series finale.

TelekineticRenegade
One of these days I'm going to watch all of the classic Who's.
I definitely like it better than Heroes though. I dunno why really, I just do. There's kind of more emotion in Doctor Who and in Heroes it's a bit detached because there's so many characters and they don't all get the screen time they deserve to develop them and get really deeply emotionally involved in their stories.

i love doctorwho and torchwood but catheren tate is in the next series so i am not going to watch it

Aw, well David's still gonna be in the next series and Martha will come back eventually. I just hope David Tennant doesn't quit at the end of the fourth series like it's rumoured! That would bite, he's so cool.
TeddyBear616
i think David Tennant is the best doctor yet. I have seen some of the old series and they are good too. But if any of you have seen "School Reunion" from the second season with David Tennant and Billie Piper it has Sarah Jane Smith and K9 in it. But that's what I dont get... In the Classic Series Romana stayed behind in E-space and the doctor GAVE her K9, so if Romana and K9 were trapped in E-Space how did they get out, and how did K9 end up with Sarah Jane Smith?

Anyway I love the new series it was sad to see Rose and Martha go ( mostly Rose, I wish the doctor would go back in time to save her or something) and that Donna Noble girl is so annoying all she did in the Christmas Episode was yell at the Doctor. lol. O well maybe she'll be better this season...

Did you know that TORCHWOOD is an Anogram of Doctor Who?

Maybe there's another episode where K-9 gets back somehow? Or maybe it's just a different K-9 model...? I liked Martha the best in the first episode, but then I think she just got way too clingy to the Doctor. I think Donna should be a good companion, as long as she's not as annoying as she was in the Christmas special. She'll be a good friend at least, hopefully, to the Doctor and won't fall in love with him (also hopefully) like Martha did.

Army of Ghosts and Doomsday were 2 of the first Doctor Who eps I'd seen, so I didn't know anything about Torchwood from before. But as soon as I saw it I was like, "Hey, that's an anagram of Doctor Who!" Which is weird because I'm usually horrible at anagrams.

And speaking of Torchwood, I watched the first episode and some of the second one a while ago. It didn't really get me hooked but I'm waiting to finish the second ep and then watch the third before I decide whether or not I want to watch the show.
Brandon14
I love Doctor Who! I got into during the summer. I've been hooked since then and can't wait for series 4 to start next year.
Lavenda
I grew up watching Pertwee and Tom Baker in particular as the Dr... I was rather dubious when I heard about the revival (it didn't help that Battlestar had also recently been revived and I hated taht) and didn't watch it till about halfway through the first 'modern' season. I loved that they kept a similar feel to the older episodes, of course with the advancements in computers the effects are better even if they are still on a BBC budget. Anyway, I'm hard-pressed now whether Tom Baker or David Tennant is my fave Dr. I don't mind Martha and don't see her as being more clingy through the third season, I think her feelings deepen for the Dr and it's beyond infatuation, though she does still lapse into moments of wistfulness. From what I have heard she is supposed to be appearing in torchwood before returning to the Dr. I have no preconceptions about the new companion, I think she will be a very different one and maybe just what the Doctor ordered (LOL... bad joke I know), not just for viewers but for the character of the Doctor
Aphlix
Im 17 and I hate this show. My brother is 7 and he is obsessed with it. LOL
oscarfudgie
I love this show but I was so sad when Rose left but I adore David Tennant as the doctor so I'll keep watching

David Tenant is easily one of or if not one of the best Doctors ever (not in a medical sense lol) looking forward to "Voyage of The Damned". Christmas seems so far away...
Machy07

Aaah totally.
He's my second fave Doctor behind Tom Baker.
TelekineticRenegade
Hehe, screw Christmas, Doctor Who is on!
I'm hoping Sci-Fi shows the Christmas episode actually AT Christmas, but that's unlikely so I'll have to watch on the computer.

I love doctor who, david tennant is amazing as the doctor, i cant wait to see the new series and i heard rose was going to make a few appearances during its course, is there any truth in this

Yhup yhup, there are tons of pics of Billie Piper shooting episodes, and even a video of her shooting with Donna (Catherine Tate). I would put spoiler tags up or something if you happen to be on any Doctor Who type forums or what have you, there are some people who'd freak on you for talking about Rose being back.
Hellish Gnome
I'm so hyped up for the Christmas special, I can hardly STAND it! biggrin.gif

Lol yeah ours too, and you have NO idea how hard it is to get my family to watch TV. Especially at Christmas.
TeddyBear616
OMG!!!! Did any of you see the new episode? Partners in Crime? Rose is at the end!!!! But what happens to her? Does she like dissapear? How does she get back to this dimention?

I CANT WAIT UNTIL NEXT WEEKS!!!!!!!!! biggrin.gif
TeddyBear616
No, I think that it was the rift. Because she works for Torchwood now so maybe she found a way to get back. I saw previews for the season finally and she is holding a gun fighting off daleks so it cant be just a projection. I knew that Rose was gonna come back, but i didnt think that they would show her until the season finally

Rose was the best part. lol.

I for some reason want to throw Donna off of a building...
Machy07
i knew rose was coming back but i was shocked that she was in the first episode! i really want an episode where all the doctor who characters combine with jack and torchwood, that would be awesome!

It might, but I don't think it will happen this year. Then next there 3 specials, as there won't be a season, and return in 2010. Donna isn't that bad.

Also with Torchwood, season 3 should return in early 2009.

Yep, I would call myself a Doctor Who fan (and a lot more scifi shows)

I think it was in the second Sontaran episode but did anyone see Rose on the monitor? I spotted her first time but everyone else I know who watches it had to be shown by me.

There were many great lines in that episode.

I loved the "Are you my mommy?" reference, that the Doctor did.
Obi-Wan Gibnobi
I aint the biggest fan of Doctor Who, but the Sontaran episode was one I really enjoyed. biggrin.gif

Last Saturday's episode was awesome it was also on my birthday!

The Season Finale was awsome!!!!!!!!!! And it wasnt as sad as I expected it to be. But I loved all the companions all joining togeather! And Torchwood was cool too, but i wish that they would have shown Luke more in that episode he was hardly in it.

I can't wait until the Christmas episode, the Cybermen are coming back! But I hope the doctor doesnt die!

for any people who didn't watch the NTA awards or haven't heard by now David Tennant has confirmed that he will be stepping down as the doctor after the 2009 specials, this sucks sad.gif i was full of joy that he won an award then he trashed my happiness by making the announcement unsure.gif

Yeah, saw that. I guess that was the exclusive. It seemed it the way he said it. Real shame but I suppose it's for the best, like he said. With Doctor Who, we can always remember the greats but can't linger on them because that's what it's about. It kinda poo poos how River Song or whatever her name was recognised the Doctor from the future, though. Maybe she just meant "his wise eyes" or some shit like that.

At least we have the 4 specials, which, I thought would all be over 4 weeks. The way he said it, it seems like they're gonna span over the whole year!

Doctor who is awesome show...I love to watch this Show...

so, what are people's views about the new doctor?
in case you haven't heard; SPOILERS
http://www.getthebigpicture.net/blog/2009/...doctor-who.html

i like how they have picked a lesser-known actor as i didn't think the other actors rumored would fit the part. i think he will be okay as the doctor but it's going to be hard to fill the gap left by the brilliant david tennant. i still wish he wasn't leaving
