Dania Ramirez will join Heroes new seanson and play as Maya. and what power does she have? like X-MEN ,Callisto?
Jester77
It will be something different than anything we've seen before, I'm fairly sure on that but to start guessing on her powers now when we know absolutely nothing on her. I have no idea and I won't until I know more about her
travis
Anyone have an idea of what it may be?
Aerdna
Recent spoilers have said her and her brother's abilities are connected. I think this has to do with them being twins.

I'm still trying to figure out what it could be though.
Raekon
The newest spoiler from watch with Kristin said the following:

Deanna in Indianapolis: Do you have any Heroes news? I miss that show!
The powers of new Heroes Maya (Dania Ramirez) and Alejandro (Shalim Ortiz) are connected. Dania told us this about her brother, "We need each other." We also hear that despite reports the fraternal twins are from the Dominican Republic, they're actually from Central America and will either be leaving from or at least passing through San Cristobal, Honduras.

I only hope that they won't pull the northlight & aurora twins power like in the canadian alpha flight heroes group from marvel comics with Maya and Alejandro cause it would suck! sad.gif
travis
seems interesting though that "they need eachother" for their powers

Sort of weird, so if one dies the other can't do anything any more?
Raekon
In the case of northstar (maybe Alejandro) and Aurora (maybe Maya), they both had these powers:

- Superhuman speed and durability,
- Flight,
- Light generation

However, the light generation worked only after they touched each other so they could produce light beams and flashes against their enemies.

At later issues depending what age (since in marvel parallel universes are like toast and butter) Aurora was killed together with mystique, wolverine and the others that were in wolverines team while northstar wasn't with them and they both had seperated so they were able to use their powers without the need of each other.
Jester77
I don't think that the powers will be the same though, I'm hoping they won't be in fact
travis
could come up with so many theories with that i guess, i wanna know now! haha
Lost_Dom
Sounds like it might be similar to Nikki/Jessica's power.
Hopefully more will be revealed soon. . .
Jester77
I swear we are discussing this in another thread..

I can't find it but someone was giving an explanation based on other comic characters with that similar connection ability
Raekon
It was my thread under the undentified spoilers section with a reference to aurora and northstar from the marvel universe. ohmy.gif

BTW: You forgot to make another thread for the new regular female named Monica! smile.gif

Move over Niki-Jessica! Heroes is bringing on another scary-sweet heroine. Maya, played by Dania Ramirez, will be seen working her way through Central America and Mexico to try to enter the U.S. illegally. Her super-power is still hush-hush. "Maya is a very good person but her abilities have made her extremely dangerous," Ramirez reveals. "This has caused a lot of havoc in her life." "She'll be on the run with her twin brother, Alejandro (Shalim Oritiz), and find border trouble along the way.

Don't know what it means, but maybe she needs her brother Alejandro to keep
her power in line and when they are separated, that is when she starts to lose control, and
maybe vice-versa.

I don't really know what her power is but I'm going to totally guess and say she can
create earthquakes/tremors. There's no real reason for this theory, it's just something
that could match with what I've read so far about her. It sounds similar to Ted really.
His power was so volatile that he struggled to control it, so did Peter. Only Sylar had
control over it.

I actually hadn't thought about that. I thought it would be more along the lines of Maya couldn't use her power at all without her brother, but I had forgotten about that spoiler, so I'm gonna agree with you on this one.

In the latest short teaser I saw a few days ago it seems that a bit of mayas power is revealed because when she touches her brother they seem to be like around fire and some kind of green fluid comes out of her eyes that flows upon her face is if it were poison tears or something. O_o

It is said that she and her brother are being chased by the police because people think they are dangerous for everyone, it might be a ability that affects their suroundings making everyone ill or something. ohmy.gif

Don't know for sure though....

Whoa, that's weird blink.gif
Raekon
Here a screenie. biggrin.gif
Mayas Power

I made it out of the trailer when I stoped it at the second it was sawn so the quality is very low.
Though I hope it's still ok. smile.gif
Jester77
Uh whoa..that's weird and looks kind of gross blink.gif
Aerdna
I didn't see her bleeding eyes until it was pointed out, that's just creepy, but also kinda awesome. *looks up characteristics of lizards again to see if it says anything about bleeding eyes*

I wonder what kind of use having that sort of power would be..
Aerdna
Well, I don't think that's the ability, it's probably the effects.

Alright, at least it seems like a new ability (one that hasn't been done on X-Men)

Here's a slightly better quality screencap.

Jester77
Thanks for the screencap and that's crazy
Aerdna
It almost looks like an exorcism blink.gif

You're right it sort of does

Well, if you check out the translation of that news article on Hana's website, there is definitely a mention of an icky substance in dead people's eyes and in a slightly different translation I read in the comments below the latest graphic novel on the NBC website the description reads, "The eyes of each one of the dead dripped an oily, black substance."
Hmmm...
Jester77
Hmm now that's interesting, thanks for the link smile.gif
Raekon
There are also some types of lizards that spread poison from their eyes this way. ohmy.gif
Jester77
Are there really?
Raekon
As example:

Texas Horned Lizard, Phrynosoma cornutum (Texas)
This fierce-looking desert dweller, endowed with sharp spines on its body and pointed horns atop its head, is in fact a passive sort that willingly bypasses trouble. Like the look-alike thorny devil of Australia, this lizard feeds on ants.
Often erroneously called the "horny toad," this wide-bodied reptile is one of three horned lizards that inhabit the Lone Star State, although about a dozen other species of horned lizards are found from Canada to Mexico. It's renowned for its myriad defense mechanisms, including the ability to squirt blood from its eyes in the face of danger. And these lizards better have good defenses, because they're hunted by the likes of the loggerhead shrike, a bird that impales its unlucky prey on a thorn and returns from time to time to snack on the carcass.

Endangered by habitat loss and its popularity in the pet trade, the Texas horned lizard was finally granted formal protection by the Texas legislature in 1967. It is now the official state reptile.

Look into my eyes(surprise! surprise!)! tongue.gif
Jester77
Oh wow that's a crazy defense mechanism, though I don't think I would like to squirt blood out of my eyes, that's just really freaky
Ariela
If the townspeople are all dying while squirting this black oily substance out of their eyes then that would seem like someone else's power is to make that happen. So if in the preview Maya is having the substance come out of her eyes, couldn't that mean that that's her brothers power? He is grasping her hands quite tightly in the screen cap.
Raekon
well it could also be the case that maya has the defence mechanism but she needs her brother to activate it. ohmy.gif
Not sure but it seems to be one of many possibilities. It would also explain why they need each other for the power to work.
Jester77
Yeah it's definetly a weird power, can't wait to see how they explain this one cause it doesn't make much sense to me blink.gif
Akizu
Haha, just a dumb guess...
Maybe when they hold hands they can heal eachother? o_O

I'm going to say that it won't have to do with healing (at least I'm hoping) especially since Clare and Mr. Linderman have/had abilities that had to do with healing

Good point, I asked my friend today about it and she said she heard about their power being really different and I think she said something along the lines of...scary?
Jester77
Well so far the pictures I've seen so far haven't been too pretty
Akizu
My friend also said that the power is supposed to be something like no other... I hope it IS unique! Then it'll keep me guessing. ^^
Jester77
Well the eye thing is definetly something weird that I've never seen before
lastxcallforsin
When Maya is under stress she unwillingly creates a virus that is immediately fatal to those around her. Her brother is the "antidote" and keeps her ability suppressed.
AmarU16
Based on the first episode... i guess thats true...
darkabsalom
yeah thats the only best explanation but it might be just simple in turning body fluid into viscous black material XD
AKAZAK
.
terp13
ewwww... looks weird!
Integral
She is dangerous, when peter petrelli comes in contact with her he might create a greater catastrophe than the explosion over NY...

If we think that his brother is kind of an antidote, and i think that the possibility Peter meeting both of them is not low either, he will get both of their abilities and they wipe out each other.

Lets hope he dont meets Maya alone.
Ramon Aquino
i think her ability is get into others human bodies
lol
lmao!
