HAHA!!! Yeah... THIS MOVIE IS GONNA BE GREAT!
"For Sparta!"
What is interesting though is that I am in the middle of studying Greek War, and this is a good Movie for me to go see for my class... Although it is TOTALLY FICTIONAL, TO A SENSE, but the Spartans were not, and they were GREEK!
I love European-style fighting!

Yeah I don't know how true the movie will be or if they will even represent the Battle of Thermopylae like it happened but I don't care, I'm going to go and try to see it tomorrow if I can

What is the big damn thing about the movie 300 anywa? I asked this because I went to the movies last night to see "Wild Hogs" and today to see "Zodiac" and I past the 300 theater both times and saw people having their ticket stub's checked before being let in.Another movie that sounds interesting though I've only seen the movie poster is "Grindhouse" it too looks like a "Sin City" type movie and I too loved "Sin City" so I will be seing "Grindhouse"

Well it is like "Sin City" on the basis that the script comes from a graphic novel written by Frank Miller. The movie is just getting a lot of buzz and to since the movie is rated R and to prevent people from sneaking into the theater they have theater employees posted outside to the theater to check stubs.
I saw the movie and frankly I only thought it was okay. I loved Sin City and I own the special edition of it but I haven't decided yet if 300 is worthy enough to enter my DVD collection. My whole problem with 300 is the way the story presented itself, it didn't focus on backstory at all but just on getting the war started. There were a lot of cool effects but that's all the movie seemed to be, a bunch of cool effects.

Like SinCity cause the Cinematography is Identical in it it's uniqueness AND the Story on what a HERO truly is in FrankMiller's description. IT IS A THEATRICAL PIECE. For a while there when he droped the Sheild I said

NOOOoooo.....!!!!

300 was so pretty! And not just because of the hunky soldiers!
It really captured the spirit of Spartan culture for me. It also had the spirit of those great legends like The Odyssey and The Iliad.
The effects were so gorgeous too! Every scene was so beautiful!
The soundtrack was great too! The use of heavy metal for a period epic was incredibly creative.

Now that I finally made my way back to this site, I must say, probably my favorite moment was when the queen stabbed the guy that betrayed her saying, "This will not be over quickly! You will not enjoy this! I am not your Queen!"

Suppose, I think you would be hard pushed finding someone who hasnt got something copied in some form these days, why I think within ten years all storage mediums will be phased out by online shopping, wot that means for stores I dont know though

Well, matter of opinion. Very violent. Legs flying everywhere, heads coming off, it was a little excessive, but I liked it.

That's one of the reasons I didn't like it the entire storyline was just violence and I know it was based on a graphic novel but I don't know I just don't like that much action

Point there, one of the movies down points was the focus on removing limbs instead of plot. Still, the actors did portray it pretty well. The novel is very violent also, but it was a little more plot based than focusing on the actual battle.

I'm a huge stickler for plot so that bothered me the most about this movie

I finally got to see this a couple of nights ago and was very impressed. I love the whole tone of the movie, the action is flawless and I don't have any issues with the graphic nature of the movie either.
Gerard Butler and Lena Headey were brilliant.
Michael Fassbender was awesome as Stelios.

Even though this is adapted from the comic, both in fact are based on the battle of Thermopylae

and the very last opening battle sequence shown with david wenham's character, this is the Battle of Plataea and is the beginning of the end for Xerxes
