For you maybe, think I'll go insane waiting for this, but of all the superhero movies that have hit the screen recently this is by far the best, great acting, dark, and maybe a bit more realistic than the others, and check out Heath Ledger as the Joker, creepy huh?

I agree it is definetly one of the more superior superhero films out there and I think that Heath Ledger will do an excellent job, he's such a great actor (I saw the pictures too and he looks creepy enough to do the job well)

Quite a bit actually

I was surprised by how much I dug Batman Begins. I remember I got an advance press ticket to a Leicester Square preview. My invite was a batarang shape. Security was tight- the plot was under wraps ( I guess the main twist being that Liam Neeson was in fact the villain all along, which made me feel kinda sorry for that Ken Watanabe dude who was advertised as the main foe)
I have total faith in The Dark Knight being the equal of BB, the entire cast and crew seem to be back. The new bat suit looks a little like a toy spin off, and Im not sure about the batpod bike thing, but then I had the same doubts about BB.
Incidentally BB had a great soundtrack that reminds me of Heroes.
Director Chris Nolan knows his onions so we are in good hands- anyone here seen The Prestige? A great tight and creepy film that went kind of unnoticed over here. A solid adaptation of a pretty fiendish book too. He works well with Christian Bale.
Also Chris Nolan knows and worked with Tim Sale, the artist on Heroes, whose Long Halloween, Dark Victory stories are largely the inspiration for the new Batman films, I can recommend these in their new hardcover slipcase formats. It doesnt get any sweeter...
Yeah I was wondering too if you ever slept Jester.....im not sure if the posts show the correct time but judging for the time difference there are some crzy-late posts

I hate when directors do that, think its going to be like an hour into the new film before I accept her as Rachel Daws, if at all.
As for "The Prestige", I watched the 1st hour of it and then got bored and turned it off, I was expecting it to a bit more out their, but their were using David Bowie's machine,... Andy Serkis is in this also aint he?

Give the Prestige another go, Read the book first, its so complex I had to read parts of it again as its split into 2 pieces from 2 diffent POV's
andy serkis is in every film these days
Maggie Gyllenhaal im not so worried about- KAtie Holmes was a bit of a weak link in the chain in the last film at any rate. Maggie has impressed me in every film ive seen her in.
I want Liam Neeson to make a surprise re appearance-he brought real class to the role. I loved it when he was kicking Bruce down in the temple: 'KUNG FU? THIS IS NOT A DANCE!". And he had the most classic line in the entire film: "Now please excuse me , I have a city to destroy"
One day im going to walk out of one of our boardroom meetings uttering that....

I have to agree, at first when I found out that Holmes was going to be replaced I didn't like the idea so much but Maggie Gyllenhaal is a great actress and I think she will do a much better job in the role

i just hope they make the Joker an effective villain. I always used to wonder why Batman had such problems taking him down. The joker never seemed to have any real abilities except being insane

first of heres are a few pics i found:
Dark Knight Official Logo Pic
And here are the 5 production stills i got from the imdb+yahoo site:

I HOPE THIS IS CONCEPT ART OF WHAT THE JOKER IS GOING TO BE!and finally the dark knight himself:

the only other info that i can provide about this film is that theres going to be a seen when a bad guy presumably the Joker robs Gotham Bank. The only reason i know that is because there filming in Chicago where i live, and my bro was going to college and he always passes by the Gotham bank on is was to school and hes seen them filming.

I get the feelng Ledger is going to be a normal criminal who isnt disfigured until he is chased from a robbery, never know it may be the one in the pics, with him and Bats altercation resulting in Ledger falling into waste.
I think the accident should be very similar in some ways to Tim Burton's Batman

If they decide that that is how the Joker is deformed but this film is not really supposed to be like other Batman films

Yeah I know that obviously Burton tried to get that comic book feel in his films, Nolan's looking for more realism in his, but thats not what im saying, just think simple, joker was a criminal before being dropped in waste after the Bats foiled him in Burton's one, In Nolan's, Its obvious hes going to use the same format, Batman foiling a bank robbery and somehow escalating in some sort of accident with waste

batman in comics form gets relaunched so often so its hard to say.
Alan Moores 'Batman Killing Joke' story portrayed the Joker as a failed comedian involved in a chemical accident during a robbery. Its the story i remember the most.
Tradtionally in the comics the joker has had no other identity, 'Jack Napier' I think was a Tim Burton exclusive idea.
but i could be wrong, batman is not one of the comics superheroes that im massively into.

I'm soo excited for this sequel. I can't believe they chose Heath Ledger as the Joker. I hope he does the job justice, because I adore the Joker. But of course, in my heart, Mark Hamill will always be the best Joker, ever. Anyway, I've heard that Cillian Murphy will be coming back as Scarecrow, and of course Christian Bale's back as Batman. So, yeah, I'm really excited for it. :]

I always thought it was a comedian who fell into a vat of chemicals too. Hmm...at least that is what I remember. THe new Joker looks freakin' sweet. The movie looks to be pretty good, plus it has the Joker, arguably the best Batman villian evah.

Well, I have always liked the Joker over the others. He had no real superpowers, and he was sadistict. He was freakin' crazy. He killed Robin, and put Barbara Gordon in a wheelchair. While thinking it was hilarious. Mr.Freeze, Clayface, Bane, and such all had a power of some sort, but Joker always got to Batman the most.

Jul 23 2007, 02:33 AM
But they are good for keeping your hero busy while the main villian is doing something else,.. look at Batman Begins, after the gas has been released and he fights Neesons henchman, wouldnt say he slapped them about, he struggled, your forgetting that Nolan is making this realistic, so I believe he would dispell the myth of henchman being punching bags,.... he already did in his 1st movie
FabledJables
Jul 25 2007, 06:57 PM
Yeah, I am glad for the realism thing. DC heroes tend to be overpowered. Like Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, ect. The movie, Batman Begins, was pretty good. I hope the second will do as well.

interstingto see that in NOlan's re-worked Batman the DArkKnight doesn not kill. It is an iron law with him and in line with the main comics arcs.
TIm Burton jettisoned that, Batman guns down tons of bad guys in the Batwing in Batman 1. And blows them up in Batman Returns.
Drowns a whole bunch of them in Batman Forever

His only weakness is kryptonite and it seems to be pretty readily available for a precious stone on a since-destroyed home planet lightyears away...
I think they should mirror the Joker on Rorschach from Watchmen in the fact they he wears the make-up for the Joker because he believes it is his face and he's a freakin' maniac rather than a deformity.
