Well those numbers aren't too bad, I'm sure they would have been higher but a lot of people have probably downloaded the episodes
lastserenade
Yeah, a lot of people downloaded here in the U.K. too. Season 2 will be on the BBC
this time though, and they plan to show it around the same time as in America. happy.gif
This is not only good for us, it is good for the ratings too. High ratings around the
world means lots more seasons. biggrin.gif I reckon the viewing figures in France will get higher
with each episode. People who have downloaded will probably want to see them again
if they are big fans as well. Season 1 is being shown on the BBC here in the next few
weeks and I will definitely re-watch them.

The worst part about doing that is how affected the ratings are...
Aerdna
They should really consider incorporating downloads into the rating system. Then the numbers would be more accurate, and shows would have a longer run.

I agree they should put the shows up on the website and allow everyone from all over the world to watch them and also keep track of the number of times it is viewed..up the ratings quite a bit I would think
Pilou
What would be the point in counting number of viewing ? it only gaves the popularity, but it won't help raising audience on TV !
I hear it already on the TV news channel : "Well, people don't like waiting 1 year or more, and then 1 week between each episode, so we actually attend a lack of viewers on TV... TV's dead ?"

I really think Videos On Demand are the way to escape it...

Well that's why I say count the number of views on the streams of the episodes on the website. People are beginning to watch TV less due to lack of time to do so, or laziness, so they watch their favorite shows on the internet. And since networks depend on ratings, views should count as ratings. And when you think about it, popularity of a show is basically an audience.

Yup plus networks aren't taking it into account just how many people TiVo the show and watch it later or watch it online..if they were able to keep track of all these numbers then the way that networks view ratings would change substantially

The reason they dont count all the people who download the show is because if you download the episodes, the breaks are cut out, and so we arent seeing the adverts that were shown on tv.
It means nothing to them if there are thousands/millions watching online unless we're viewing the adverts aswell.
The Heroes fanbase is alot bigger than the ratings show, but that doesn't really matter to them unless we're all watching it on the TV.

Well that's the thing if people are watching Heroes on nbc.com they are watching the advertisements as well (not as many but still) so I don't see why they don't count that
Kop92i
I'm french and i download all episodes of heroes because the french voice are very very bad and i prefer the original voice of the show.

(Sorry for my english dry.gif )
Jester77
Yeah dubbing shows never really turns out as well as they want it to
ShadedSkies
Well, maybe if they stopped dubbing everything, a lot more people would actually watch it on TV. Nothing more annoying than dubbed voices. dry.gif
Jester77
I couldn't agree with you more, I hate dubbing dry.gif
Aerdna
That's funny, they dub the episodes to accomodate international viewers, yet it really doesn't really benefit anyone in the end tongue.gif
Jester77
Seriously, just put subtitles, at least that's how I would prefer it
Aerdna
I find it interesting that they have completely different opening titles for Heroes in France. French singer Victoria Petrosillo sings the theme song that looks like it was written about the show.

Theme length: http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=A3kEvVQnQuw
Full song: http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=duJPdPPqVF0

The song is okay, but the full length video with all the pictures from the show is kinda creepy...
Jester77
I don't know I liked it and the full length was just like any other music video that has to do with a show (they did the same thing with "How to Save the Life" by the Fray using pictures and clips from Grey's Anatomy)
Aerdna
I still like the one we have better. Dun mess with Lisa and Wendy! wink.gif But I think they did a better job with "How to Save a Life" than this. They could've done without the pictures all over, the clips alone would've been fine.
Jester77
I'm impartial to pictures and to be honest (maybe because I've seen it way too much) I'm really sick of the "theme song" that Heroes has
Bogus
Yeah that song was horrible. I mean Whyyyy?
Did they consider us to dumb that we need to know when the episode starts and when it ends by using a horrible song.
Anyway, I didn't watch the french version.
But now for the second season, TF1 (channel with the rights on heroes) sells downloadable version of Season 2 eps right after it being aired in US. Costs like 3€ an ep.

shlezer
Hmm the number of people is not so bad if you consider that France is a lot smaller that USA and for example the world CUp of football kept 12 millions people in front of the screen... twice this number. But for a serie is not a bad score I think.

For sure TF1 would prefer to have more viewer on their channel. I sa the season one before it comes in France but I have alo seen it after on TF1. smile.gif

For the subding well in France it has always been like this. I prefer the english voice but I think that that the french one is not so bad if we compare with some other series (Prison Break)

Fot the Music theme... The French one makes me sick too ^^

yeah you're right, when i can choose, i prefere watching the original version (subtitled just to be sure of my understanding) but now i think i got a quite good level, and i watch the OV without subtitle, and i apreciate the original voices, the original Background noise... etc...
every thing is better in authentic version rolleyes.gif
Mista.Isaac
That's a shame we have such a bad opening song!
It's like prison break and faf larage!

I also rather like OV, and it helps perfecting my english too tongue.gif
But there's many people who can't understand a single word in english, and watching TV with subtitles is really annoying, the time you read you cant see well what's happening.
If they show a series in STOV in France, the audience would be divided by 4 at least I'm sure wink.gif
