George Takei is on Howard stern all week and today he mentioned( which I haven't seen anywhere else) that the Heroes powers have to do with genetics and that in the very first episode we will see exactly where their powers come from

Hmm well it obviously has to do with genetics and it's probably just a gene abnormality or some kind of evolution..I guess it'll be good for them to say exactly where these powers come from on the show
Aerdna
I wonder if they'll explain a reason for why they get the ability that they do (besides their personality and needs, which is from the perspective of the audience). Will they explain that genetically?

Actually didn't Mohinder get into this a bit in the pilot?

I hope they don't reveal too much since it ruins the suspense. Notice that since KYLE XY revealed his origins the show hasn't had the same suspense about who he is etc etc.

Heroes strength and appeal lies in their various personna and characters and how it came to be. Revealing it too early would kill a lot of audience who tune in looking for that answer.

Sincerely,
Aerdna

O rly? Guess I'll look for that when I re-watch all the episodes.

Hmm, good point. Although since I don't know what direction they'll be taking it, I don't know how important the origins of the abilities will play in the arcs.

And for XY, I think the focus of suspense is now on Jessi, and what they're planning to do with her, what Mada Corp's real intentions are, and what's Foss's deal is. You should come and discuss in the Kyle XY thread so we don't go way off topic smile.gif

Well he was just going on about how things evolve and mutation happens and creates abilities within some people (teleportation, tissue regeneration)..but I guess he doesn't go all into it? I don't care, it was enough of an explanation for me

Given the fact that we've been told this Vol. is called Generations.......I'd sure hope they'd start in 2.01!! cool.gif
Supergirl
I've been rewatching the show and Mohinder does mention some things (forgot which episode, he might have been chatting to Nathan?) and also Claude said something interesting to Peter as well, about Darwin and his theories, and it reminded me of how Linderman had set Niki and DL up so they'd have Micah.

Yeah throughout the season they do drop some facts every once in a while
Supergirl
Yeah, its good to watch it again, pick up on things that were missed. Esp in the first few episodes.

I've been so bored this summer that I've watched every episode like 30 times!!
So I've over-analyzed everything lol

Yeah I've watched the entire first season eight times through and I'll probably watch it one more time before the second season starts
travis
now we can talk more about this part and see if they actually "reveal" lol
byran
hmm, not really, just the virus that all the people with that "gene" carry that will eventually kill them

Did you see evidence of this "exactly where they came from" revelation?
I don't wanna say it but...i'm learning to never believe the HIPE.
travis
well even in the commercials they announced they'll reveal the powers...i'm guessing the eclipse but who the heck knows lol
Raekon
According to Mohinders talk it's obviously a virus that gives them the abilities but also occurs their death at the same by making them ill like Shanti, Molly, Charles, Charlie and obviously soon Nikki and the Haitian too. ohmy.gif

Also on the list many people with abilities were already dead without the involvement of Sylar so it seems that they also died on this virus or it's causes before.

then my question is:
How did the elder generation survive? And for that matter Kane or the irish mobster whos 1000 years old...
But its interesting if the people get abilities by that virus but also causing their death.
We just have 2 wait tongue.gif
Raekon
Well charles, Dallas, shanti didn't make it already.
Charlie wouldn't have too if sylar wouldn't had got her first, many from the list probably died on it aswell
and Molly was almost dead at the end as well before mohinder helped her.

Lindermans company was examinating all the supers to find obviously a cure for it even Linderman was a healer.

Kanes power is immortality so it might have to do something with it?
That means even if he dies, he comes back (as it was stated that will happen after sylar kills him when he finds out that he has a ressurection power and brought him back by it).

In my opinion it might have to do with the ability someone has that by some the disease state starts earlier while on others later or very late.

but what about the 1000 year old mobster as an example.
The older generation must know more about this disease then.
If Kanes power is immortality then he will be the one stabbing his heart like in the stories and that Hiro is not Kensei.
We still dont have enough facts to conclude about this so we can only speculate more.

From what we saw I guess that he also is because its already stated that Hiro just helps him to do exactly what he is supposed to do so the stories he read as a child will be true and he won't be responsible of the history he "broke" by being there anymore. ^^

As about the "stabbed heart" I guess it's more a love thing than a real heart cut out in physical form (Yak!!). tongue.gif

I'm very curious though how they will do that and how Kensei/Kane turned out to be a bad guy.

I thought Kane was immortal something like that and that there is this Irish Mobster who has the ability to slowly age? but hes 1000 years old or something or is that wrong ?
Im uncertain about that.
Raekon
Kane is the one who is 10000 years old as far as they had wrote in the spoilers (Tim Kring interview and such).
The irish mobster is another baddie and it is rumoured that the electricity power Peter will have in the next episode comes from him. ohmy.gif
If it's true than he would be the second to have this power next to Bell.

ah so Kane is 1000 years old + he has more abilities I read but didnt knew he was the one who was 1000 years old.
But no one doesnt really know for sure yet what his power is.
K thx for the update biggrin.gif
Jester77
But we didn't see exactly where their power came from now did we? Now that's annoying
