Full Version: Spoilers vs. Pre-Air Releases

I honestly can't see the problem with Spoilers or Pre-Air Releases...I can see why the network would feel how they feel about Copyright Laws concerning downloads, but if we watch the episodes as they air and buy the DVD sets when they come out, they still get their money (not saying that makes downloading legal). And, as far as, spoilers are concerned I don't see the problem in one enjoying spoiling themselves, as long as, they respect the others' who wish to remain spoiler free and not talk about spoilers in non-spoiler sections. cool.gif

Producers get paranoid when stuff like this happens. Not all viewers are dedicated fans. Not all viewers necessarily are members of forums and love to talk endlessly about the show. Not all viewers see the importance of ratings when it comes to keeping a show on the air, therefore not lending their viewership each week. And the demographic of the casual viewership might not go out and buy the DVD simply because they feel it's a one time thing. The producers and the network are afraid their ratings will drop if the episode gets leaked due to viewers who get their hands on the episode and not feel the need to watch it on the night it airs.

Me, personally, I don't mind reading some spoilers just to tide me over the long hiatus. Pre-air releases I have a problem watching. Of course even if I did decide to download the leaked episode, I would watch it when it aired on television, but knowing what happens before then just ruins the experience for me.

That's fine and good, but could you actually vote? Or did it not show up?

Now I did.

Well spoken, I do read some spoilers in fact I'm usually the one to post them but I am completely against downloading the episode before it airs. I know that some who watch the episode will watch it when it airs but many will not and that will affect the ratings also with those who watch the episodes the actual details of the episode is then leaked and they become hard to avoid. I like spoilers but I like spoilers that provide just enough information to leave room for me to speculate, other than that is too much and ruins the show for me

If, it's in a Spoiler Thread, then I don't see how you have the right to complain.....I'd recommend that if you know a pre-air episode is being leaked online you avoid spoiler sections of forums. mellow.gif

I personally can't get enough of either of them. I download shows, but I watch them on
TV and buy the DVD's as well, if it's a show I like. I love spoilers because I hate not knowing
anything, but I don't like knowing too much. I mostly like character spoilers. Reading plot
spoilers is how you ruin it for yourself.

travis
yeah i'm with you Gargy...I could read/watch spoilers all day, then watch the episode a minute after knowing what will happen but still be impressed and AWED hehe.

I'm not complaining about spoilers and obviously if you're in a spoiler subforum there are going to be spoilers

Well, just to letja' know that in order to not ruin an entire episode...my original advice stands...if, you know it's leaked pre-aired...than, it's best to avoid any spoilers just to make sure!! wink.gif

It hasn't yet (at least not to my knowledge) so I should be fine for now
Raekon
Well I love both spoilers and the episodes pre-aired or not.
That's not because I want to be illegal, its because I love this show and I wanna know more about it. smile.gif
Most of all because I get a chance to view the show through downloads since its not aired in my country at all (at least not yet). smile.gif

This way I'm not missing it. wink.gif

Yeah, same. I still have the graphic novels to read and old fan videos to finish so I can delete the eps off of my computer!

Me too though I think I'll just keep the eps until I get enough money to buy the DVD set
Gargy
I am personally waiting for Mid-September to start catching up on the graphic novels again.... laugh.gif

+1 - They're still showing series 1 over here (I finished it online just as it started, a friend put me onto it smile.gif )
Also, I don't have a TV because I'm a student and paying £135 a year for something I hardly watch (due to the amount of crap on) seems a little unnecessary.

"I love Pre-Air Releases, but hate spoilers."

I would probably still watch the show if I was not doing anything when it aired, but wouldn't go out of my way to watch it again.

How would you need the pre-aired releases? Couldn't you just still download them a couple days later when all links are put up?
