NBC is adding former "Veronica Mars" star Kristen Bell to the cast of "Heroes." The network has hired Bell for a key multiepisode arc of the second season.

Bell will make her first "Heroes" appearance in October. She'll play Elle, a character described as a sexy, mysterious young lady who has ties to the supposed death of Peter, H.R.G.'s past and the future of Claire. Elle will kick off her arc by committing a serious crime, though it's unclear whether she's good or bad.

"This was not easy to pull off," said "Heroes" creator-executive producer Tim Kring. "But since we're an ensemble show, with many arcs playing out through the year, we found a way to jump into a small window in (Bell's) schedule."

Universal Media Studios prexy Katherine Pope also hinted that landing Bell wasn't easy, noting that "many studios (were) chasing her in both film and TV" and that she was happy that Bell "chose to star in our show."

Peacock has snagged Bell for a key multiepisode arc of its sophomore sensation. Casting is a major coup for NBC since Bell -- who plays the title character in Judd Apatow’s upcoming “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” -- was reportedly being sought for several TV gigs, including a part on ABC’s “Lost.”

Bell will make her first “Heroes” appearance in October. In addition to her gig in the Apatow pic, Bell co-stars in the Weinstein Co.’s upcoming “Fanboys” and supplies one of the voices in the 2008 animated Fox feature “Sheepish.” She also has another regular role on a network skein, voicing the narrator in CW’s new drama “Gossip Girl.”

Bell’s past credits include a recurring gig on “Deadwood,” Showtime’s 2004 adaptation of “Reefer Madness” and last summer’s “Pulse.”

I am soo insanely excited that Kristen Bell is going to be on Heroes! Veronica Mars is a fav show of mine and I adore her!

I wonder if her connection to Zachary Quinto might have helped? (They have the same agent or publicist I believe)

This is the best news EVER! Veronica Mars has been my all time fave show ever since it started, and for Kristen to join the cast of one of my other fave shows is just AMAZING! I am over the moon

Althoug its 3rd season meandered somewhat (not helped by uncertainty over renewal and support from the network) Veronica Mars wa a tight show, and KRisten was largely responsible for that.

Over in the Uk i had to spend untold weeks downloading VM, but it was worth it.

SO its good to see Heroes has snapped up this talent. I was hoping it was either Heroes or Battlestar that would get her

Interesting...I thought she was supposed to be the narrative voice of Gossip Girl in Gossip Girl. Although, I guess that wouldn't take too much time out of her schedule, and who knows how long that show's gonna last.

Even though I've never watched Veronica Mars and think they're going a little buckwild with all the spontaneous castings, I'm happy she's apart of the cast She'll fit in well and I wouldn't be surprised if all of a sudden she was upped to a regular.

This is such great casting news I love Kristin Bell and I loved loved loved Veronica Mars.
If only she was offered a series regular spot but her as a recurring guest star is still really awesome I cant wait.

She is doing half the season thats so awesome I cant wait to see her character and its really cool that she might be playing a bad guy quite the change from playing Veronica Mars

Yep, she'll be on 13 episodes at least, though I think Eden was on less than that Also agree with everybody, it'll be great to see Kristen on the show!!! I'm not a VM fan really but I saw it a couple of times and I liked her. She seems very cool so I can't wait to see her on HEROES

Eden was on for 11 episodes but I get the feeling that Kristen's character will have a similar effect

Aw I still miss Eden alot she was like my favorite character for a while, I hope they dont kill off Kristin's character Elle but even if they do atleast she will get a good run on the show like Nora did.

I really hope they just don't kill every Hero they want to get rid of. Get rid of them some other way.
But don't just have them disappear and then die in the graphic novels like Hanna after only being on one episode and subliminally implanting her image into people's brains at the Bennet house, making you go back and watch again to see she wasn't really there after all. 0.o

And because everyone is so nice and I know so many people involved, I feel like I'm switching high schools — but one that a lot of my friends have already transferred to.

What can you tell us about your role?
[Elle] comes in with a bang. She's a bit of a criminal in the beginning. I'm not even sure if they know whether she's going to be bad or good. She has a link to H.R.G. and Peter. She becomes integral to the mystery on the show.

Did you have to do a table read or go out and audition for the producers?
No, I didn't. Doesn't that feel like I'm on another planet? It's flattering. Everyone has the right to see actors audition [so] they get what's right for their projects. But when you have someone coming to you saying, ''I know you're right,'' it just makes you blush. I'm over the moon.

Well atleast their not on an island and they dont really have to kill anyone off they could just make her go away for a while and bring her back if need be to wrap her characters story up like they did with Claude, Meredith, Zach, Haitian ect.

If it's true that they will kill Candice between the two first episodes I will be pissed like hell and that's for sure.

Most of all because they will obviously let Sylar "fool her" only so he can kill her since actually knows about him and wouldn't go for him.

Even if she would, she actually would have a very good chance to get him out without breaking a sweat.

However... since he became regular and she is reccuring, (also because missy isn't available at the moment and they obviously didn't gave the character a chance to appear in later episodes when she has time again.... ) she has to go and die instead of putting her under the wing of the company again (since the company is still there) or give her a other opportunity. WEAK!

And what is the dumbest way to be killed in the show? Of course! Sylar so we can get more sick of him while he is doing his "Mr. spock" thingy while someone else doing as if he is he and can kill for him until he comes back. Thanks Writters! -.-

Um, Candice is already dead ain't she........and FYI: If, she ain't.......she is one of them that will die........I gurantee it..........you'll get to see Missy take over the role of Andi on TheCW's The Reaper, however!!

Candice isn't dead and to be honest if they would be really interested to make such a good and interesting character appear again, they could had added missy in later episodes when the reaper that goes only for 13 episodes is done work.

I mean Heroes has almost the double amount of the episodes so they would had room and it would be also a good surprise to make her appear all of sudden and show more of her instead of letting her getting killed by sylar in any way so they can do as if he impersonates random people with her ability while he is away.

You seem not to care about candice but I'm sure that you or others at least will get sick of him when he obviously will kill the second major and popular character in the show which might be either Claude, the haitian or even Molly (she got a lead role in a movie!).

Yeah, like Thomas Dekker will be back as Zach..........yeah, right!! FYI: You don't take a punch like that to the nose and survive.

Also, want to point out that one of the "recurring" roles could be one of them that's not even coming on screen until Season 2 begins........meaning West.......and what about Janice, Audrey, Audrey's boss, Nathan's political advisor, Mrs. Petrelli, Lyle, Sandra, or what about April........she's on for only 2.01 (maybe 2.02 mention) and then that actress is off to Wisteria Lane!!

A punch like that shoves the nose bones that break up into one's brains causing immediate death.........and she was hit squarely in the nose, thus the blood leaking out of her right nostril and she went 20-yards back in the air before landing on her back.......you can't even hear the air being pushed out of her lungs by the impact.......she's dead.

I read an interview yesterday where she stated that she is gonna kill someone in the show. O_o

Well recent rumors say that it might be Kaito that bites the dust in the first episodes after all (what a relieve to me ^^ ).

I think it would add more to hiros story coming back seeing that daddy got killed by sylar/kane after all while he was away, going for revenge! Would show Hiro more mature and determined than he was before after all.

As about Bell, she said that her Character (Elle) will kill someone in the show so I guess she is gonna be a villain after all.

I love electricity powers btw.

And as about Missy join the reaper show, she could easily jump into heroes for a few episodes to surprice all of us so I don't think this is an issue.

Most of all since it seems as if the 13 reaper episodes are already done (I mean the filming) or are in the late episodes already. ^^

Well weather or not Missy will be back is questionable it kinda seems like they want to take their series regulars and throw them into new storylines and with new characters.
But some will be back like the Bennet's.
