Got Heroes > Heroes: Episode Discussion > Volume Two: Generations > Chapter 01 - "Four Months Later"

Hi.
If you have seen the first episode, please continue reading..

Well, what do you guys think of the season premiere?
I enjoyed it a lot,a great opener..

So, please, bring up things you want to discuss here..

It would be nice to hear your theories about things.. like who the guy was that pushed down hiros father from the roof (i also wonder why the moron was standing on a roof tongue.gif).
I think its someone we havent meet yet in the show..

Peter's back... he used some kind of electrical power, wich we havnt seen so far in the show.
However, there was one man in one of the comics, maybe nr 47-50 (not sure), who had a ability that had to do with electricity, so maybe peter got it from him, somehow, the question is ofcourse how?
He doesnt remember a thing, and he is the most powerfull of all heroes, but he doesnt know how to use his abilities, could be nice.
He got the same neclace like the haitian was wearing, maybe he got it from him, and the haitian had something to do with peters memory loss..

I dont know if you guys have figured it out yet (tongue.gif) but hiro IS kensei, thats so great, i couldt stop smiling when the thought popped up in my head!
Hiro acctually is his own biggest idol biggrin.gif
All the drawings of Kensei, its a japanese guy on the pictures, but the "real" kensei is brittish, and obiously sucks, so hiro covers for him and he becomes the real hero, the kensei that the legends tell about...

wonder who this creapy guy that follows molly in her dreams is... but that is a question we've had since the season finale. when molly said "there's someone i cant se,he is worse than the boogeyman"

claires (future) boyfriend can fly.. cool, he has powers, feels a little strange that they let two people have the same power.. haven't happened before..

thats what i can think of at the moment, now, i want to hear your thoughts!

Yes Peter used some sort of electrical shield around his hand. So he absored it during those 4 months we know nothing about.
No I doubt that. The person you are referring to was ill or something so Peter couldn't have been in a hospital (although there might be a chance he could meet him).
Haitian must have erased his memories or someone who has the same ability as we know that Tim Kring stated that there arent just people with 1 unique ability there are more with the same ability.
Hiro is Kensei the theory is old news (for me atleast). Only question is: will Hiro die because Takezo Kensei stabbed his sword in his heart if Hiro were to be the one described in the stories. I think it will be complexed but Hiro will help Takezo but not stab himself. Hiro in 5 Years gone was alive and must've had the same process with going to old japan etc. not sure though but most likely so. Since Hiro is undergoing a self fulfilling paradox (how else does he become so good with the sword, he only learned the basics of his father and hasnt continued his lessons to become good).
Creepy guy is someone of the 12 people.
At least its not Deveaux as he is black and the person was not black.
West nothing to comment about except I think that his father might be the new "HRG" (dont know where I got that from).
About the creepy guy.. I get the feeling its Mr. Petrelli even though I think not.

They're rapidly losing my interest.

I want answers to the questions that the ham fisted finale left open. Or at least the impression that they will begin to answer them and not just ignore it and hope it goes away. Why couldn't Peter just fly away? Lost of questions.

Questions about this episode?
I thought Nathan won the election?
What happened to his family's money?
If he can fly why hasn't he bothered to look for Peter?
If HRG is in hiding why didn't HE grow a beard? Dye his hair? Leave the country? ANYTHING?
How do they afford such a huge house on retail assistant manager pay?

Things I like:
Matt, Suresh, and HRG working together.
Death cards and super hero serial killers...even if it is from Watchmen
No DL

Things I didn't like:
It's obvious that Hiro is Kensei. Boring and hard to believe. 2 months of training and he's gonna be a samurai? Gimme a break, will ya?

Molly is the new villain. It couldn't be more obvious if they stamped it on her forehead.

More Claire high school stuff. Yawn.

I think you expected too much for one single episode. I think yesterday's ep packed more punch than any one of the last season's (save for ''Five Years Gone'').
We should get more answers to your questions as this season goes along.
As to why Peter didn't just fly away by himself in last year's finale, I think he was overwhelmed by the new powers he was absorbing through Sylar and the other heroes.
Maybe we will learn that Nathan has officially disappeared after the election for some reason.
I think, maybe, we'll see...

Hey,
thing i thought was strange.....
apparently peter doesn't seem to remember anything....
yet, doesn't he use his powers by remembering how people make him feel?
i'm sure that was the reason he gave to Claude?

anyway, i thought the first episode was cool.

Regarding Peter's 'new power'. Didn't Ted have some electrical thing he used when helping Matt and HRG escape the company. HRG said something about burning clean, not burning hot. Pretty sure it was blue.

Yes your memory serves you well smile.gif
But you are thinking wrong though.

What you are thinking of is about the EMP pulse created by Ted.
That was no where in the neighborhood of a shield ish type ability smile.gif

That ability Peter used in the end was from someone after the explosion above NY.

And about the guy above saying how disappointed he was etc.
You got to realise that Tim Kring only wants to get the people involved without seeing season 1 but still make it interesting for those who has watched season 1.

It was orange. Ted's power was nuclear, not so much electrical... and to me, Peter's new power looked like an Ice type thing. In season one (Episode: 5 Years gone) Peter and Sylar have a stand off with opposing elemental powers. Sylar had some fire ability and Peter had Ice. (So we could be finding out more about this power in the next couple of episodes!)

There's a theory that up until now I've agreed with 100%. The reason why Peter didn't use his other abilities on Sylar earlier on was because he can only use powers that he is aware of possessing. He has to KNOW he has them. And since he's already met Sylar, he just doesn't know he has a dozen new abilities (like extremely sensitive hearing and telekinesis). Anyway, Peter has woken up with a new ability. He has no recollection of getting it, so I'm wondering how he could have used it. I'm assuming he could have honed the ability down to a science during the 4 months though. *shrugs*

I must agree with thing that it's a little strange why Hiro's father stand on the roof (he must be there to meet someone?), Mrs. Petrelli go to the roof too.
Just think that this roof is very important to whole story:
- on this roof we can see like HGR and Hiro's father talking in the past
- on this roof Peter meet the black guy and he saw Peter when he was invisible
- on this roof Hiro and Ando enter to the future
So the question is: Why this roof is so important ?

Peter lost his memory, and he's got a nice medallion on his neck (with this strange sign).

I think that Mohinder will betray HGR. Why? Because he know that if he will destroy company from inside, he will never discover the cure for mysteorius disease that kill his sister.

I just can say: WTF ? biggrin.gif
minara
I think maybe that Peter's use of his new ability without knowing he could do it might be a defense mechanism. Remember that when he was sparring with Claude on the Deveaux building, he just randomly used the telekinesis without knowing how, either, when Claude was going to whack him in the face with the staff.

Maybe when he feels threatened his powers trigger.
Birmingham
Fair enough. They probably haven't given us enough information to answer all these questions.
No idea what's happened to Peter though. Looks like the Haitian got to him, with the memory loss and the same necklace. Would have imagined 'the company' had more use for him than dumping him in a cargo hold for some guys with rubbish Irish accents to find.
And for the last post I thought Mohinder found a cure, the one he saved Molly with. Looked more like the whole plague thing was a trap for the company to come for.

- It was light blue ish not orange and Ted's power was idd nuclear but the EMP pulse has some electrical pulses which makes it kinda electrical (dont know how to describe it in English, Yes im not American tongue.gif)

2. In season one (Episode: 5 Years gone) Peter and Sylar have a stand off with opposing elemental powers. Sylar had some fire ability and Peter had Ice.

- With this I do agree. He learned the defensife shielding during the past 4 months is most likely.
About the theory... We dont know it yet so we cant say pretty much about it except speculate.
But if I had to speculate then yes he would have potentially all abilities Sylar has because the most important thing in that theory is that Sylar's original ability is not Telekinisis and yet Peter has them why? Because he needs the feeling of the person using it and during Homecoming he got hit by some flying lockers by Sylar's Telekinisis he stole.

The roof is indeed very important. I think it was some sort of meeting place for the older generation of Heroes in NY.

We do know that from the older generation Hiro's dad knows the following people.

Mr. Linderman
Mr. & Mrs. Petrelli
Mr. Deveaux
and Claude but we dont know if hes part of the 12 people Hiro's dad and Mrs. Petrelli mentioned.

yes but as we have seen through last season, the heroes use their powers as a natural instinct when their situation needs it. as in, peter was going to get brayed with a wrench, so he defended himself as a reaction.

and i think you are dead right here, it was an emp that is radioactive and does mainly knock out electrical resistors and distort sine waves. and to those saying no, it was electrical powers as emp cant create force... well it can, it interupts certain sound frequencies so in a large concentrated burst could cause a lot of air movement. and if you watch back to the episode where HRG tells ted (through matts telepathy) to burn bright not hot, he also said that matt should stand back, and when the emp happened ted let out a large burst of power. i think this is what peter used and doubt that they will show much of what he has done in the 4 months as he probably wasnt in any state to go practicing powers he doesnt even know he has.

just my 2 pence. great episode too, cant wait for lizards.

your point is well taken there.
If used right, the electrical pulses on high frequency can make a shield I remember now from an episode of The new adventures of Clark Kent and Lois Lane (something like that) that there was this bad guy who had a shield of High frequency of sound. Meaning it was generated by eletrical charges / pulses making the shield and that way it would be possible to make what we have seen in the end of the season 2 premiere.
mo141
this s what i think that peter got taken by the people that HRG used 2 to work for and they did tests and all the other bits... and that has caused him to forget or it could have been the bomb that did it... i may be completely wrong...

If you watch the scene with ando and mr nakamura, nathan is seen bumping into Ando, in a suspicious way, like he was inserting the picture. And also mr nakamura knew the person that tackled him off the roof, someone who is not there when ando goes to check, someone that can fly, like Nathan

He can travel through time. Ever seen groundhog day? He has plenty of time to become an excellent swordsman.

It was quite interesting alright but i guess they might go back to when everything happened, just after when peter and nathan flew off. But if i am not sure if you notice the necklace around peter's neck. its the same symbol that was on the photograph for Hiro's father.

Also being Irish i would like to point out they were the worst accents ever, they should have gotten real irish people to do those roles!! man big mistake.

cant wait for more though role on episode 2.

What's you're point?:S
It doesn't mean anything peter had the "godsend" neclace , and the godsend mark was on the photographs of angela petrelli and kaito... atleast it does absolutely not mean there is a connection between those two incidents.. but that they have powers, thats kinda old news dont you think?:S

Yea true the godsend symbol doesnt mean anything and the necklace was also worn by the Haitian but it is uncertain if the necklace is FROM the Haitian.
Ando and Nathan bumping into eachother may be a significant detail about the older generation killer. But about the post above stating that the killer could be someone who can fly...
First thing to contradict your theory although I have to say your theory may be correct but highly unlikely.
Nathan and Mr. Nakamura do not know eachother. Mr. Nakamura said: Of all of them, I never expected it to be you.
With this information you can tell at least that the killer is someone he knows very well + the person is not Mr. Deveaux because the person isnt black.
I expect the killer to be someone Mr. Nakamura knows very well and someone that is relatively young. Because if you looked well at the killer's hands he would be someone quite young in his appearance as his hands look like a 25-30 ~ year old person.
So you can state several facts like:
- white person
- relatively young (appearance atleast)
- same height as Mr. Nakamura
- Mr. Nakamura knows him very well and would never expect him to be the killer (a good friend ordered to kill him perhaps?)

thats what I can conclude.

The killer is not Nathan because they dont know eachother at least it wasnt shown in the series or in the graphic novels and the killer and Mr. Nakamura knows eachother.

We saw Mr. Nakamura's blood...
Unless he has strong regenerative powers like Claire hes pretty much dead.

and to reply to birdie :
It does resemble Peter alot but if Peter's spirit was in Nathan like Nikki/Jessica means that Peter shouldnt be in Ireland because hes alive there with amnesia though.

I chuckle at those people here who are complaining about things not being explained from last season or new things that are nebulous now... because isn't that what's keeping us watching? Maddening, I know, but I have a saying... Respect the process! It's the journey that I love with this show, not getting all the answers. (Although I agree some things could be a little less predictable *cough Hiro Kensei cough*.

Things I didn't like about the new season opener:
- the "Butlers'" dinner conversation (remote in hand: click!)
- Nakamura-san dying (if he did - what's his power again?)
- Molly's temper tantrum against Matt
- If the Bennets really wanted to hide, why keep even first names? Claire could have gone out for cheerleading after all but "Claire B." is a red flag if someone was looking.
- Kensei whose English accent was just... huh? I could have accepted Kensei being a wimp who paid people to look fierce, etc. but to be English, really...
- jury is still very much out on Maya and Alejandro

Things I loved:
- Nakamura-san acknowledging Ando's value (since back at the cubicle at Yamagato Industries Ando totally would have been a grunt)
- Nathan, Nathan, Nathan...!
- The older generation have enemies, bwahahaha
- Noah's handling of the Inflated Managerial Ego, hee hee!
- PETER MADE IT! (duh)
- eh, it's just good to have Heroes back!

Yes the older generation does idd have enemies and they are maybe at war to eachother ?
About Claire Butler...
Well Noah knows how the company is thinking.. so maybe the OWI just dont expect them to have their last names starting with a B because that would be just too obvious so they just did..

What the hell are you talking about? It does absolutely make no sence at all..

Wow_BravoII
Well then. This episode was...interesting...

I have some problems with it though and they are as follows.

1. How do you fly away from a nuclear exlplosion and survive when your THAT close.
2. Whats up with Nathans beard, kinda over the top.
3. Parkman and Suresh are roomates now and they're takin care of the little girl? Whys that? Did Parkman get divorced? (and Suresh is def the bitch of the relationship as hes the one who cooks, lol.)
4. Mr. Bennet just all of a sudden left and went to god knows where america and took his family with him?
4.5 And he works at a place called Copy Kingdom. laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmme. You think he'd be a manager at least.
5. The emo kid, claire's new crush, has powers? What, the ability to slash his wrists with his mind?
6. Hiro's dad just gets pushed off the top of a building without fighting back and dies. Nice way to kill him off, right?
7. PETERS ALIVE?!?! Didn't ex-freakin-plode, not even Claires power's can recover from that his body parts would be scattered to far or all in all DISSOLVED if he exploded. AND how the crap did he end up in a shipping crate?
8. Sup with the random mexicans, how can they possibly play a role in the big scheme of things? If they're related to anyone from the 1st season, Im just gonna give up on this show.
9. The MOST stupid thing in this episode. Kensei, the legendary swordsman and a freakin brit, blonde hair and blue eyes. Seriously. I mean, come on.

I kinda expected this with how bad last season ended. But not THAT bad. So many plot holes.

Pros of the show are definetly lower than the Cons but here they are nonetheless:

1. Suresh is being absorbed into the nameless organization that Mr Bennet was involved with.
2. The Mexican chicks power
3. The fact that someone is killing the original nine 'heroes'
4. The evil face that the little girl is drawing
5. the fact that Hiro is most likely gonna take matters of Kensei's downfall into his own hands.

Overall: This could have been much better seeing as they have SO much more to work with but instead they put completely random twists and new situations that don't make any sense so far. Here's to hoping that they can somehow recover from this.

It's obvious that Hiro is Kensei. Boring and hard to believe. 2 months of training and he's gonna be a samurai? Gimme a break, will ya?

Molly is the new villain. It couldn't be more obvious if they stamped it on her forehead.

More Claire high school stuff. Yawn.

-Molly's character is so inconsistent! She was this sweet, cute, considerate little girl. She WASN'T particularly bright; she was supposed to be a little kid. Now she's super bossy/pissy, intelligent (only Micah can pull that child-genius thing off since it's his role), smart-mouthy, violent... it's just way off base. She was supposed to be playing a 6-7 year old orphan, now she's playing spoiled little brat. They REALLY need new writers... They need to ditch the Molly thing and take a lot of Claire out of the storyline. They've already shown more of her than anyone else, and frankly, her storyline and her character just... is boring as hell. And irritating. YES! WE KNOW! YOU HEAL! GET ON WITH IT! STOP *UCKING CRYING ALREADY!!!!!

-Claire just pisses me off now. Her melodramatic character and teary eyes in every scene just... UGH! *strangle strangle*

-Well, he isn't called "Hiro" for nothing wink.gif

i thought nathan died when he flew to outerspace to stop peter from booming half of new york?

I don't get Claire's "I don't want to be special" exactly either. She's still being too emo about her ability when in reality it's a godsend (no pun intended). I mean, even if you're a teenager who needs to have friends, who wouldn't want that ability?

3. *shrugs*

I think when peter goes near sylar, he won't get all the abilities Sylar has, he will get Sylars actual ability which is geting peoples powers from their brain, so Peter will get that ability which is no use to him, not the ablities that sylar has "learned". Similarly if Sylar kills peter he would learn how to get peoples abilities from being near them.
Although as a counter point to my own arguement, they do keep saying that Sylars DNA keeps changing to accomodate the new powers so it depends on how both peter and sylar "learn" their powers, is it from the other persons DNA or their thoughts, or Brain?

It was alright, but I still thought it wasn't quite up to the level of the Season One premiere.

I disagree with this. Well think of a 6-7 year old, your parents are dead, some "thing" gives you nightmares, you almost died with some "virus", you're living with two guys you barely even knew 1 year ago... so if she becomes a bit bossy/pissy/bitchy, that's no problem for me smile.gif

Well, as much as I would love for Peter to explain Sylar's power to us...he did get telekinesis from Sylar rolleyes.gif

I just thought Id throw my view out on a few of your points, really good but some to me seemed a bit strange to ask:

1. How do you fly away from a nuclear exlplosion and survive when your THAT close.
We've seen that Nathan can create a sonic boom during flight, so for him to speed away shouldnt be hard to appreciate. The question is WHY he sped away, and if he did it himself, why would he?

2. Whats up with Nathans beard, kinda over the top.
The man died for all intents and purposes. Everyone believes so. To live in a city that you just became a senator of, but still be under the radar? Id say a shaggy beard and appearance is the least he could do ;-)

3. Parkman and Suresh are roomates now and they're takin care of the little girl? Whys that? Did Parkman get divorced? (and Suresh is def the bitch of the relationship as hes the one who cooks, lol.)
Yup, at the school yard, they mentioned that Parkman got a divorce (maybe the kid was really that other guys?) And Parkman and Molly do have that bond where he saved her.

4. Mr. Bennet just all of a sudden left and went to god knows where america and took his family with him?
4.5 And he works at a place called Copy Kingdom. laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmme. You think he'd be a manager at least.
The guy is trying to be as under the radar as possible until he can attack the Company, I was laughing when I saw him at Copy Kingdom, it was almost genius, I mean who would look for him there??

5. The emo kid, claire's new crush, has powers? What, the ability to slash his wrists with his mind?
Is anyone else intrigued by the fact that he happens to have the same power as her father? Very strange or VERY coincidental.

6. Hiro's dad just gets pushed off the top of a building without fighting back and dies. Nice way to kill him off, right?
I was pretty disappointed with how quickly they took him out, but I guess it automatically adds to the urgency that people will die because of what they have done in the past, by taking out the father of one of the most powerful of this generation. That reminds me, did they ever show Hiro's dad to have any powers? He must have to be one of the 12 I guess, but maybe it was a passive ability.

7. PETERS ALIVE?!?! Didn't ex-freakin-plode, not even Claires power's can recover from that his body parts would be scattered to far or all in all DISSOLVED if he exploded. AND how the crap did he end up in a shipping crate?
Remember, Ted didnt damage himself physically when he used his abilities, didnt contaminate himself either. Their bodies are genetically capable of using the power, so it stands to reason that it may not even injure them to use so much power. A living nuclear weapon, one that can walk away when it detonates. No idea about the crate (was he handcuffed), or how he has lost his memory, or has an electricity ability, only time will tell.

8. Sup with the random mexicans, how can they possibly play a role in the big scheme of things? If they're related to anyone from the 1st season, Im just gonna give up on this show.
I really dont like the addition of new characters that become regulars, especially with such a large cast. Its like Lost in that respect, you remember what happened to those two that were added, that you didnt see for like 3 seasons? Not a long life expectancy, thats for sure ;-)

9. The MOST stupid thing in this episode. Kensei, the legendary swordsman and a freakin brit, blonde hair and blue eyes. Seriously. I mean, come on.
Yeah, Im sure theres a plot around this, its intriguing for sure, I wouldnt say stupid, as all it was was different to what we all expected, I mean people were guessing that it was Hiro's dad, you couldnt be more way off!

So far Im reserving judgement on the show. It rocked hard last season, and the first episode to me was literally setting the pieces and the stage as to what was currently happening in everyones life. They pretty much covered everyone apart from DL, Micah and Nikki/Jessica, so they did good. Looking forward to answers and no doubt more questions!!!

1. Nathan can fly and fast and I guess we'll find out more about what happened during the explosion in a future episode

2. Well his brother is dead and he thinks it's his fault (and I guess it could be..)

3. Yeah rewatch the episode

4. And actually he's assistant manager wink.gif

5. He's like the not gay Zach and it is very interesting that he has the same abilities as Nathan

6. Hmm maybe things aren't as they seem and we'll know more later

7. Yeah rewatch episode 117

8. The symbol of the show is a globe so they wanted to bring in more characters this season and be more diverse. Originally they weren't going to keep the characters from season one at all and start all over with new people, so as long as they keep the original cast and bring in some new characters fine just as long as I don't lose my favorites

9. Yeah I'm kind of bored with this Hiro storyline to be honest, I don't care for it all

Besides the whole Hiro thing, I'm really intrigued with this season, I think that it'll be amazing
