Well, its obvious that that guy can fly and I know a lot of people are against that because that gets boring and stuff, but the way he flies is different, he glides where as Nathan sort of sonic booms his way up
And also! that guys ability might not be gliding/flying, might be something that can change the gravitational field or weight in order to make him lighter than air or something
So never lose hope on the writers hahaha

I don't see why people even think they have the right to criticize shows this good!

Im thinking its levitation, not so much "flying"

Nathan rockets off in paces, whereas West seemed to glide about. More levitation, or perhaps he uses it more often than Nathan.

So basically experience?
Nathan did just start using it....well hes only flew a few times. (What we have seen)

I think I read somewhere that he controls the wind.
Or something like that.
Could be wrong though, but it'd explain the difference between his and Nathan's... Flying styles? :3

Nah i don't think controlling the wind has anything to do with it... according to the latest graphic novel he's supposed to avoid aircraft anyway... if he controls wind then that shouldn't be an issue as he would be able to overcome the force of the turbines

Haha no offense but maybe we're reading too much into it. I mean, flying is flying. The show's FX guys may have used different visual effects to differentiate the two of them a bit, give them a different feel, but they essentially have the same power. The show still rocks though..

I did read (on AICN I think) that it's revealed in ep4(???) that there's a link (other than flying) between Nathan and this kid.

Nathan's ability I would compare it to a jet while West's ability is like controlling the wind or something.

He was floating/gliding around, not so much of flying. Wonder if he can do that at a fast speed?
I'm pretty sure as the season goes they will show more of the difference in ability of West and Nathan.

I admit, I was sort of surprised when I saw that West could fly, but I quite like the idea that more than one person can have a certain power. I think it's kinda cool that they introduced a character with a similar power to one we all know so well. (besides, how weird is that that Claire's love interest has the same power as her biological father...?)
Ah yeah...I do wonder why West was spying on Claire, but I imagine from the look on his face that he was spying on her because he is attracted to her. I may be wrong of course. He does seem to have a lot of curiosity when it comes to Claire anyways.

I was bothered the entire week where i saw this guy before and it turns out i saw him in "Election".
Anyways, I'm hoping that his ability is not exactly the same as Nathan's. It's kinda boring to me if some heroes have the same powers.
LadyAvisynh
Oct 1 2007, 07:38 AM
I think it's interesting for two characters to have the same powers. In reality it's not uncommon for two people to have a similar mutation, so I don't find anything wrong with it. Now if he's another part of the Petrelli clan...

Oct 1 2007, 07:49 AM
yeah if you think about it with so many people in the worl there's bound to be an overlap, but I'm still hoping it's different from Nathan's power just to have variation

and the way he flys does seem different from the way nathan does

more floaty
daisyhero09
Oct 1 2007, 08:02 AM
I also think his ability might be a variation, but its not uncommon for there to be some overlap in the superhero universe. I still wish Zach was her boyfriend instead of this idiot West though.

I completly agree with you... when a began waching heroes it was what seduced me. I mean the diversity of their abilities, every one is different, every human is unique so every one have his own ability. So i just thnk like you this guy ability could not be as simple... flying.... no it will be more interesting

I was thinking about this too, what other powers though could make you fly? Well telekinesis but thats another repeat (though I don't really care) - and makes you wonder why Sylar didn't float himself around with his power. OP mentioned controlling your mass and stuff...can't think or anything else right now.

I think it's difficult to come up with new powers though... i think with a bigger budget they'll hpoefully ahave much better action... if they want more originality then tap into the Marvel RPG sourcebooks, you see some of the most unique and cool powers there big time

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, when Sylar goes to kill Dale, she says that she didn't hear his footsteps, to which he replied that there weren't any, which leads me to believe that he hovered himself using his telekinesis off the ground, knowing he would lose the element of surprise if she heard his approach.
