Well at least we know now that Joannas Cassidy character which will play as one of the 12 founders, is a brilliant scientist and that she will obviously have flashbacks!

Joanna Cassidy? That is definitely an older actress, perhaps in flashbacks between current and future of victoria platt. At first i was thinking of just a replacement.

I agree that it must be HRG since West, Sandra, Lyle, and Mr. Muggles are in the background.
I really hope they won't kill Maya, Alejandro, West and Monica only to get read of all the "Newbies" as Kring called them.

If she is the only one sad (what i don't think so, but...), it could be Nathan or Peter too, 'cause her mother/brother/boyfriend don't know them and she loves them.

Actually, it could also be Elle or anyone who Claire will be related to in the nexts episodes.

But, for the 8 pictures, it makes we think the ashes are from HRG.

nikki is another possibility based on the last episode (out of time).

yeah but claire and the bennet family + west wouldn't exactly be mourning over niki's death. I mean, they'd feel sad but... they wouldn't appear like this.

I have a weird (and probably incorrect) feeling that it may be Meredith Gordon. Sandra doesn't look to upset back there and Lyle is pretty interested in the Mr. Muggles. Also I read somewhere that an unexpected face from the past will come back. She's pretty unexpected.

I would have to agree that someone else besides HRG dies. No one else looks particularly sad or upset, and I'm pretty sure West wouldn't be there for a HRG funeral. I bet the picture was released to fuel speculation, and when the episode airs, HRG will be standing behind where Claire's head is or will be on an assignment. I might go for Meredith or maybe even the Haitian...

C'mon, just look at the previews... Claire says "I love you dad" as she throws the ashes, meaning she thinks it's Noah, but it's something else since Noah was resurrected with Claire's blood.
