Finally something for the season to work towards...

A great way to end a lagging (IMO) episode!

But really, can't we please move away from destruction of New York and go for something more creative? Ah well.

I suprised you found the episode that way, I actually thought it was the best so far this season. The Hiro/Kensei storyline was FINALLY interesting, HRG's scenes were really tense, and I loved when they revealed the full series of eight paintings. But everyone has their opinions!

I do agree though that it seems the writers are way too focused on saving New York (even though I love having the stories focus on my hometown) instead of THE WORLD. They'd probably give the excuse that NY is the best representation of the diversity of the world but still it would be cool if they could choose other places as well.

I don't know, it's just that last season pretty much every episode got me pumped throughout the entire thing, but I haven't been feeling that from too many of the episodes this season.

Yeah, that's why I think they keep picking New York. Not only because of it's diversity, but it's one of the most internationally known cities in the world. If you go overseas and you say you're from New York, they'll most likely know where you're talking about, at least from what I've heard...
alexleague
I too felt this episode was extremley slow and quite boring. I suppose it was necessacary in order to set up the NY devistation and Who is Adam Monroe storylines. Heres hoping that after this week it will pick back up into full momentum.
Atheshar
Ironic. I found this episode by far the best of this season, and topping quite a few from last season as well. Perhaps my two favorite characters being Mohinder and HRG has a lot to do with that, though: and from that perspective it was a pure audiovisual feast.

That aside: New York is familiar territory. If NY gets hit, then most of the world is bound to be the same way. In addition the majority of our characters have homes in the city, which opens up the possibility of going there (a la Hiro to Isaac's) to look for clues.

But we'll see.
Psycho
you both provide great points

on why its a slow episode and not.

I thought it was an amazing episode
just the season is slow o.o
super-hiro1988
It's not just New York that needs saving. The promo for "Out of Time" says that 93% of the WORLD'S population is dead. I'm pretty sure that New York doesn't take up 93% of the global population. I think it might have something to do w/ Hiro messing w/ the time line. Maybe, maybe not. Just a theory.
Admiralkirk
That was pretty messed up. 93% of the world population dead. Did not see that coming.

Suddenly that bomb going off doesn't look so bad.
super-hiro1988
My bad, the whole "world population" thing has already been posted. Sorry!

hey guys, considering this season is supposed to revisit the sins of the previous generation do you think that maybe the nuclear bomb going off was meant to prevent the virus from spreading from molly walker outwards?

Blow up new york to prevent the death of so many more people?

Now that is an interesting idea! Still, whichever way it goes, one thing is certain: next week's episode is gonna be AMAZING! I can't wait! happy.gif
Supergirl
I'm guessing the virus mutated, something happens in the present with the company, involving everyone, which spreads the virus. So instead of stopping an exploding man, they gotta stop a virus.
Vemynal

Future hiro: "Stop the virus, save the world"

random hero: "Wait, the molly walker virus mutates?!"

Future Hiro: "hmm? oh no...I got herpes and I was gonna ask you to warn me not to sleep with Yaeko"
super-hiro1988
Yeah, that would be a very good plot twist.

ha ha ha, that is really really funny... though I really don't dig the storyline of Hiro going back to the past. But well, I guess it's their way of connecting Kensei to Kane to the present... I really hope they will have a good explanation about this all.

by the way, I havent seen chap 6 yet, did Hiro get whacked?
blasua
Best chapter in season 2
EkEL8
A virus that kills 93% of the world population? Kill about 6% more and we have Aeon Flux! Haha.

Charlize Theron makes a hawt hero IMO tongue.gif:P wub.gif

haha i actually enjoy this episode...Its starting to pick up the pace

And well....i thought the whole 93% thing is a lil crazy...I mean, all those people die in 1 year? That's...well wack

And i thought its funny who Peter can immediately recognize New York

well a virus can spread out really fast...
If its in the air, it should actually wipe out the entire world population in a matter of month(s)...
So it seems the virus can only be spread by persons... That would take about a year ~ so it is a little bit logical wink.gif

Do you think that the bomb going off would have stopped the virus from starting perhaps. maybe it would have been better to let it go off.

You don't know that if the bomb went off the virus wouldnt break out...

for all you know it could have been peter and caitlin going into the future, and coming back, bringing the virus with them.

The virus will break out in Odessa, Texas or at least somewhere in Texas. It did said on a TV guide I think so Peter and Caitlin bringing the virus with them is unlikely.. smile.gif
young trone
Im saddened that this season is going towards another NYC based catastrophe. Hopefully the whole season doesn't center around trying to stop that, because thats what the last season was for! This show needs to pick it up a little...
Santo
I didn't really enjoy this episode. And I don't know whether I should be excited for this "NY Evacuation" plot or disappointed being as though it's a rehash of last season's plot.

I am sorry but the last 2 comments are retarded. The episode 7 preview says that the whole world was affected. 93% of the population dead duh!!! Peter was only in New York to contrast with Hiro's appearance in NY in the beginning of season 1. Watch genesis again and you will notice the difference. Thats what makes heroes so good because there is a lot of continuity in the storylines. Its part time fans like Santo and young trone that let this tv show down. I mean people were wondering whether the heroes had forgotten about saving the world, well the heroes writing team had to build up to the point slowly. Too bad no one appreciates mature storylines anymore.

If they're going to write about destruction of NY next season (if there is) then we can assume that Heroes is doomed to fail at the end of season 3... But we'll have to wait eh tongue.gif

I also though about the "save New-York again" thing when I saw it but remember that Peter travelled through time instinctively, so maybe he just ended up in NY because he lived there and, hey, he nearly blew up the city biggrin.gif.
bignas1234
OMG 93% of the worlds population dead, hot dang thats alot of people
this virus spreads like wildfire in the during the 1 year
maybe mohinder and adam will be the only people left on Earth, one is immortal and the other unaffected by the virus
this virus ruins the whole nature and atmosphere human beings live in thus killing whole man kind

I'm going to hazard a guess that, perhaps, it's the "not so new" factor. Last season, Heroes was new... This is it's sophomore season, with the attendant expectation that it should "measure up" to last season. I think the excitement is quite likely to pop as the season progresses.

We shall see.

comatose
so far this season we have only 1 hero who's able to emit a virus.[maya] maybe another hero will come out who is able to do the same thing? a virus that started killing the 93% of population.

peter having memory loss is able to remember new york. is there something to that?

and what about the storyline of the elders? how are they gonna make them connect? i would still like to see their ability. so far they've only show linderman[healing], maury parkman[nightmare], and bob[gold spoon]. i would like to see what the others can do and what would happen when they battle against each other. that would be exciting. but i doubt the story will change to that.

true, the writers said that we would know more about the elder generation but so far we've only seen a few ...

we will most likely learn more about the older generations abilities when we see how adam was betrayed by them

KoR-evo
I have to say the evacuation storyline looks very interesting..at last we have something 'really' interesting to get stuck into.

It also brings the 'virus' storyline into focus..which some people had feared would turn out to be like the over-hyped 'box' let-down.

Nathan was worried about the .07% being killed, just imaging 93% of the world's population dead
enough to turn a man crazy

Mohinder administered the virus into Monica with her being none the wiser. She then proceeded to have a few one-nighters here and there and before you know it, the whole city's left for the dead. Seems Resident Evil-ish to me.

Is it definitely the virus? (I may have missed something...)
Not some weird manifestation of Maya's tears?

But to begin with... How did the virus or from where did it originate ?

QUOTE(-sparky- @ Nov 1 2007, 11:52 AM) *
Who says he travelled in *time*?

It may be that he actually just teleported to New York but he was ALREADY in the future...
(IE, the storyline behind him being found in the dockyard crate and him meeting the Irish gang and Caitlan is IN THE FUTURE ANYWAY... They cut away from the scene when Peter picks up the paper and says 'its next year' before you get to hear Caitlans response...)

I have a sneaking suspicion that we are currently watching 3 timelines...

Hiro, back in the 1600's...
Peter, one year in the future...
The rest... 4 months after the 'bomb'...

I am of the opinion too that it is Peter coming back from the future to the present that causes the outbreak of the virus... It is HE that is the carrier...

But then it would be a paradox. If he didnt went to the past, the future wouldnt have happened... And no one would know what would happen to the timeline...
So its a self fullfilling paradox.
deckstor
many incidents in this show portrays self-fulfilling prophecies!

some which i can remember..

season1:
mohinder stabs haitian with the needle in 5 years later episode. "I think i'm supposed to do it"

season2:
caitlin tells peter to bring her along to montreal because she was in the painting peter painted.
Cylar
IF they really wanna change the future, I'd say... stop following the paintings, hehe. That'd stop some of the self-fulfilled prophecies... and some of those self-fulfilled prophecies had had major impacts to the story.

true, but what repercusions would that have on the timelines... You dont know that :x
