The writers are right to strike, they get completely shafted and hardly make any money for what they produce. They missed out completely on video which is why they're making a stand this time. Getting angry at the writers is unfair, you're angry because they won't write because you think what they make is great- so shouldn't you WANT them to make money for giving you this?
It isn't just TV, it's movies as well. If this lasts, there won't be any movies in a few months. It completely isn't the writer's faults, all they're asking for is a fairer part in American media, and not one thing they ask for is being delivered. Basically, everything they say, the people in charge refuse. They can't even make a decent share of money on things that are highly successful. Striking is an important part of your freedom, anywhere that has the right to do it should exercise it. No one who tries to get fair treatment should be abused the way writers are being abused for this. It's just selfish to call them names because they want to get a fair share in an industry that's corrupt enough without the fans holding the system together out of self involvment.
Agreed.

yes they have the right 2 strike.
but couldnt they have waited for heroes season2 to end!?!?! lol
It makes sense for them to strike at a time which will cause maximum impact and gain them the attention which Hollywood has neglected to give them.

Why are the writers going on strike? I dont understand. OMG!
Imagine that you create a story..you sell that story to someone who pays you 10 cents for it. They then go on to produce that story which goes on to make them $10 Million. You, the creator of that story have no security or control over how your story is used etc..all you have is your 10 cents..maybe a few extra cents from DVD sales if you're 'lucky'. Now what about the $10 million that the story has generated from promotions, action figures, Amazon unbox sales, itunes sales, dvds, books, other merchandise etc etc..?
As the writer of that story you don't get any of that (or very little by comparison) despite the story being
your work. Basically you get shafted..
welcome to Hollywood
