Article about the Writer's Strike Here: http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2007/11/strike-its-a-re.html

Less than 12 hours after their contract expired at midnight on Oct. 31, some 2,000-plus writers assembled in the Los Angeles Convention Center to hear union leaders declare that a strike will occur; the only question now is when. Many believe the picket lines could begin forming as early as this afternoon (at least, that's what some New York-based scribes were led to believe based on an earlier meeting), but the common wisdom is that the Writers Guild of America will inform writers to start waving the placards Monday morning, unless, of course, an 11th-hour deal is hammered out over the weekend.

Strike Fallout: Heroes Prepping Season Finale!
Heroes Affect To The Strike Article:
http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TV...eroes/800026358

Heroes' second season may be coming to a close a lot sooner than expected due to the forthcoming apocalypse, also known in some circles as the d*** writers' strike.

Sources confirm that the show is going back and shooting an alternate ending to the Dec. 3 episode that, if used, would allow the episode to function as a season finale in the event of a strike. Originally, the episode was only supposed to serve as the conclusion of the current "Generations" arc. Should an 11th-hour agreement be reached and a strike averted (fingers crossed!), the alt ending would likely be scrapped.

same for me *sobs* mellow.gif
If they do finish the show, all the plot lines will be messed up as they will try and cram it into just a few eps and arghhh i can't think about it ending like that. dry.gif
amplification.
That's absolute crap, I can't believe it. Those writers can go **** themselves honestly. I will be so pissed! Argh, I can bearly think of it, I guess I just want to know whats going to happen, I hate speculation.
Moonflax
Great shows die sometimes.

Considering I don't even watch TV at all, and this show is the only thing I've watched for years, I've not missed an episode, and I've watched season 1 several times over.

I can't imagine anyone would allow their squabbles to become more important than keeping something as beautiful as Heroes alive. I don't know what the writers could be having a problem with, but they can just have me become a writer. I'm good. Really. 8)

*inhales*When is it due for release?

what is goin on nowadays with the heroes production people??
First they cancel the heroes origin series and now the writers of the original heroes episode are going on strike. Someone tell me what is happening?
chimps_n_pimps

True, i think so too... But it'd suck if everything'd end in December, i wouldn't be alive now if it wasn't for Heroes! Please God don't let it end like this! (tongue.gif)
ShadowSage
Nooo sad.gif

Heroes sad.gif

Like Moonflax said, I hardly ever watch TV, and Heroes is one of the only shows I watch (along with Prison Break and 24)... They can't let Heroes die like this sad.gif
Power Mimic
That's F***ed up. I hope they don't decide to end season 2 at episode 11 and just start filming again once the strike is over.
DoctorHeroes
I really can't believe this! It's just STUPID!
Atheshar
That's the power of a strike, isn't it. NBC knows how disappointed fans are, which means there's extra pressure on them to settle.

I still hate it though.
qinrawks
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO please please please tell me this is a wayy early april fool's joke... I can't take this!

This strike is only affecting Heroes - why? Is is because the writers are pressured with the fans reaction to the dismal season 2 so far? I'm sorry I come from Singapore so I don't know much about Hollywood news...
Cloudwalker
I'm confused, do they mean Heroes will end faster or only the 2nd season? How much seasons are they gonna make? I thought five
Magnus1382
I read that they are going to go back and try to re-shoot the ending, so when they go on strike they will have a season finale that will end the generations story arc.
sportastephaline
At least were getting some kind of ending, instead of the show just coming to an abrupt end when they run out of episodes to show. I also dont think that this is only going to effect heroes either...

more like a rushed ending, which might turn out like the ending of season 1 which wern't that great
Aerdna
Despite how Heroes-centric you all are, this isn't affecting Heroes alone, it's affecting the writers of any TV shows/films that are apart of the Writers' Guild. I believe different shows will be handling things their own way, and Heroes happens to be doing this by wrapping up the season at episode 11 (which luckily was set to be the fall finale to end the first major arc of the second season).
Cloudwalker
I dont really understand it. Maybe a stupid question, but will there just be a third season? Or does Heroes end after that last episode?

I would think so, but there has been no official statement by NBC concerning that as of yet.
Cylar
What's the reason for the strike? It had better be good and not some petty squabbles... and this had better not be the end of heroes..

It's over salary and revenue from DVD sales. Right now the writers are getting $.04 for every DVD sold, but they want to bump that up to about $.08 or $.10. I believe that's it in a nutshell. There are articles out there that explain it better.

What the hell is happening over in America??? Why are they having the strike? I'm confused but anyways hope Heroes stays on TV!

Im sure Heroes will carry on but they will just be on strike for a few weeks, thus cutting short this seasons episodes, reducing our heroes fix sad.gif

and supposedly they are reshooting the final episode of this volume because of the strike, making this season 'generations' finish
next will be the 3rd season, not volume 3-continuation of volume 2
correct me if im wrong wink.gif

It is not just happening to Heroes. It heard is happening to all primetime, daytime and late night shows. The only shows that are going to be left are game shows and reality shows.

oh thx for clarifying this, still man im gutted sad.gif
JPatch
So, wait. Was Volume 2 going to end on 3 December? Were they not originally planning on bringing the series to a logical pause at that point? I don't read the spoilers, and I don't want to, either. I'm asking just in case someone who had read the spoilers could evaluate and answer.
DoctorHeroes
Generations aka Volume 2 comes to a close with episode 11 with Volume 3 picking up with Episode 12, aka Same Season.
Chibi
NO WAAAAAAAY!!! ><

The show won't end until at least 5 or 6 seasons.

FYI: this strike is affecting EVERY television show, NOT just heroes. Live shows--daily talk shows will be hit 1st--Monday. Shows like Heroes & other dramas & sitcoms that write & film episodes a few weeks in advance will still be able to air what they've already shot. However, once those shows have been shown, if the strike is still going on, ALL the networks that air 1st run programming will be affected. It has NOTHING at all to do with the fans, complaints, ratings, etc. The writers want more compensation for shows that are shown shown online & later released as DVD's. From an article discussing the reasons for the strike:

Carl DiOrio, labor editor at The Hollywood Reporter, says there are two major issues in the talks — how the writers are compensated for DVD sales and the distribution of content over the Internet. The writers want their DVD compensation doubled from the 4 cents per DVD they receive now. The studios have balked at the request.

For now, DiOrio says, the writers are not asking for compensation from content distributed on the Internet. But they want a deal in place for when the studios figure out how to make a profit on the Internet. The studios don't want a deal in place until they begin turning a profit.

I'd expect/hope for a quick resolution because the networks cannot afford to lose more viewers than they already have over the last few years.
superhiro1942
No Heroes make super hiro go cranky... SUPERHIRO MUST DESTROY WORLD!!!!!

No seriously this is complete... wait i won't type that... anyway its really stupid that a few writers are making the rest of us suffer becasue they don't think they are getting payed enough gaaaah...
KoR-evo
Actually the writers do have a legitimate claim.

They create stuff and the networks shaft them..without the writers there is no TV, period (except for gameshows and 'reality tv'). They do deserve a fairer amount of money and you can't really blame them for making a stand.

The timing sucks, but the industry had been warned..blame the industry, not just the writers..who, at the end of the day have to pay their mortages and make bread. Everyone gets the financial rewards but the writers get screwed..Hollywood has to spread the wealth.

BUt yes, I hope this gets sorted out because I don't want to miss LOST..or Heroes wink.gif

QUOTE

Yes, there will be, no doubt..it's just that they have decided to wrap this season up early rather than leaving loose ends hanging about the place until the strikes ends (assuming it goes ahead of course). This will impact upon the 2nd season..that's what we should be worrying about..the third season will probably be better paced now that season 2 looks set to be crammed/hurried/horn-shoed.
Rod
Its' not the end of the show right?*whimpers* Just the season finale right?*cries* there will be a new season right?*fetal position*

Heroes will live, it's just Season 2 that will be affected..well S3 will be affected because it's course will change slightly, but Season 2 will just be shorter - probably 11 episodes rather than 23. That's if the strike last weeks as opposed to days.

All is not LOST;)

yea just give them what they want and get it over with. I'm on the writers' side on this one. The network need to give them a rise tongue.gif

And seriously...i don't want to watch crappy reality shows
Silv
The writers are right to strike, they get completely shafted and hardly make any money for what they produce. They missed out completely on video which is why they're making a stand this time. Getting angry at the writers is unfair, you're angry because they won't write because you think what they make is great- so shouldn't you WANT them to make money for giving you this?

It isn't just TV, it's movies as well. If this lasts, there won't be any movies in a few months. It completely isn't the writer's faults, all they're asking for is a fairer part in American media, and not one thing they ask for is being delivered. Basically, everything they say, the people in charge refuse. They can't even make a decent share of money on things that are highly successful. Striking is an important part of your freedom, anywhere that has the right to do it should exercise it. No one who tries to get fair treatment should be abused the way writers are being abused for this. It's just selfish to call them names because they want to get a fair share in an industry that's corrupt enough without the fans holding the system together out of self involvment.
GeneZ
yes they have the right 2 strike.
but couldnt they have waited for heroes season2 to end!?!?! lol
