The commercial did say 3 Episodes left but Season Finale was not added to that... Usually something like 3 episodes left until the Season/Series Finale neither was added at the end of that announcers announcement.

I don't think they want to do an alternate because they refuse to let the strike affect Heroes they want to continue the show....I read articles on that they were posted here at the site.As far as the WGA Strike and now The Stagecoaches for Broadway I am surprised they have not ended yet because this is alot of money loss and a giantic affect.....

Heroes Magazine in the UK seems to think that Season 2 is ending in April

Why can't they simply hire foreign writers?

There's always the possibility that the writers wouldn't work for foreign writers, if they're not part of a union recognized by the SAG.

Film, TV Writers Set Negotiations Date

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Hollywood film and TV writers who've been on a nearly two-week strike against studios will return to contract negotiations on Nov. 26, their union and producers said Friday.

In a joint statement, the Writers Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers said both sides had agreed to return to formal negotiations.

The statement said no other details would be released.

Meanwhile, the writers, who went on strike Nov. 5, would continue on the picket line, said Gregg Mitchell, a spokesman for the guild.

Some writers applauded the return to talks.

"That's fabulous, that's great," said Sean Jablonski, a writer for the FX drama "Nip/Tuck." "You can't get a deal until two sides sit down and talk about it," Jablonski said.

"It's a good message to hear around the holidays," he said.

John Aboud, a TV writer and a strike captain, said he hoped a return to talks would quickly lead to a contract.

"I'm delighted to see they're starting to move forward and I hope we can wrap this thing up soon," Aboud said.

It's unclear what pushed both sides back to the table. The strike has been bruising and very public, with writers being joined by actors on picket lines and producers taking out full-page newspaper ads to tell their side of the story.

Since the strike began Nov. 5, late night talk shows and several sitcoms have gone to reruns. Other shows are counting down the number of episodes they have left before running out of scripts.

Industry analysts had thought there would be enough scripts to produce shows well into January. But many shows have gone off the air at a faster pace than expected, as cast members and show runners have refused to cross picket lines.

Compensation for shows offered on the Internet is at the heart of the dispute.

The producers have said it's offering writers a share of licensing fees paid by Web sites to stream shows. The union has rejected the offer, saying the payments wouldn't begin until six weeks after a show goes online and viewer interest is nearly exhausted.

Writers also want a cut of revenue from non-skippable ads contained in many shows streamed free online. The alliance slammed the door on that demand.

The last writers walkout in 1988 lasted 22 weeks and cost the industry $500 million. The entertainment industry contributes an estimated $30 billion a year to the Los Angeles economy, or about $80 million a day.

I know that this may very well be unreliable but on this wikipedia link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_heroes_episodes it shows Season 2 as having two volumes 'Generations' and 'Exodus' (Exodus was confirmed by James Kyson Lee a.k.a Ando.)

Could this mean that we will watch Volume Two in the following weeks and then Volume Three next year but it will still be a part of Season 2???

For those who don't know what Exodus means it means Evacuate so i tied this in to Episode 8: Out Of Time where everyone was evacuated because of the virus.

Even if they sit down to talks again at 26 November or around that, it still won't save Heroes from going off-air in December, will it? I mean, it's hard to imagine they'd write, shoot and produce another episode in a week.. So it looks like Heroes will end on ep11 anyway.. And it feels like Christmas' been cancelled. sad.gif

But I dont understand why r they doing that. Why ending the season and not put reruns of the show until the strike ends. This means that we have to wait almost a year for season 3 of heroes??? That I wont be seeing David Anders anymore?? I dont understand. I saw the preview of chapter 9 and said they are going to save the world in 3 episodes. OMG Please keep me inform of the strike, why they dont pay the writers whatever they want, come on, the shows are nothing without them

Because they don't know how long the strike will last and therefore they have to plan accordingly - each episode takes a great deal of effort to make and they have no scripts from which to conceive the episodes. NBC prob will play reruns, but unless the strike ends in the next couple of weeks they will need to give closure to this season (which is why they have shot an alternate ending) and prepare an adjusted narrative to arc 2-3, which will now be Season 3. There's no point in them rushing once the strike ends, they need to deliver quality content because S2 has been below par thus far.

Because the studios are greedy and they don't want to give up 4% of DVD sales and the untold amounts that they will earn from "New Media". This is business and it's a dog eat dog world..the writers are simply barking back.

Of course there needs to be a fair resolution and both parties (studios and writers) have a bigger responsibility to not harm the industry, other peoples income/jobs and the viewing public.

I really hope this gets resolved soon. Heroes is really good at the moment. Also I hope they don't scrap heroes:origins although I'ms ure it will be affected if the writers strike isn't resolved soon.

No "Heroes" still ends December 3rd even if there was not a strike it was going on Holiday Hiatus anyway like last year...If they come to a agreement and the strike finally ends than "Heroes" may return in January after the Holidays like last year...If anything comes up I am sure it will be copy and pasted here...Right now both the WGA strike and Stagehands strike is very silent and I have not found any other updates yet.

So, its like last season?? When they went on hiatus like all the other shows?? I didnt understand why they wanted to end the season, like have a season finally and dont go on hiatus. Because on the episode previous, say they only have 2 more episodes to save the world from the Shanty virus. OMG, they have to return before september of 2008, that will be torture

They have planned from the start that Season 2 should be splitted into two parts.. the first "Generations" in which we are currently.. and in episode 12 the second part called "Exodus" should start.. due too the strikes they have decided to show only the first part(Generations) which will ends after episodes 11. They do not know how long the strikes will go on(the problems could be solved next monday or like 1988 it could take 4 more MONTHS)... NBC wants to be sure that fans will get a clifhanger and fans continue to watch the show when it will go on air again(which is by now not sure, it could be in early spring or if we have bad luck they could decide to wait till next fall to start as Season 3)
But usually every year shows go on hiatus from the beginning of december till the middle of january.. people usually go christmas shopping, meet with friends, decorate their homes, visite family or go on vacation.. instead of watching TV)... we don't know if the writes have planed originally to destory the Shanty Virus during episode 11 or later - only they know.. i personally think they have planned it from the beginning that way
adzster
good news everone i just heard that there having a discussion on the 26th so there might be more than 2 episodes left
Leroy Kincaid
Well... Just read a little above wink.gif
But I agree with those who are saying there's few chance that the remaning episodes would be written, produced and diffused so quickly. It sure would be great, but dont make too much illusion.

Hey Guys

I've just watched another youtube clip about the WGA strike and a writer of heroes confirmed the sad truth: They have stopped producing episodes, after episode 11.

Watch the quote for yourself (it's at about 1 Minute 30 sec):

Hope they start negotiations at Nov 26th.

Greetings.
Radio Bye Bye
Just when I'm into Heroes, this kind of thing happens.. Eeh. Hope things patch up really soon.

I'm seriously trying not to bang my head against my keyboard after reading posts calling the writers greedy. Here's how it is.

Just because a writer has a job on a show now doesn't mean they'll have a job next year. At any time 48% of Guild writers are unemployed. These writers live off of residuals during this time. Every time a show is aired on tv, they get residuals.

The studios are replaying shows on tv less and less. There's hardly ever any repeats during the summer. They just spam it with reality TV and stream the scripted shows on their website. The writers do not get paid when people watch online. The writers don't get paid, but the studio does. Every time that horrible Nissan Versa ad is played, the studio gets paid. The studios are making money off of the sites and the writers get zilch. SO THE WRITERS ARE ACTUALLY GETTING A PAY CUT.

The studios are saying that they don't have to pay the writers because it's only promotional and there's no way of knowing if the internet will be profitable. Except, when you download programs off of torrents the studios call you a pirate and claim that you're costing them billions. So if the writers want to get paid "Tough, it's promotion." But if the studio wants money it's "You're pirating and hurting the industry."

The writers don't want to strike but they are because it is important to the future of their livelihoods. They striked now and not during the summer because it would hurt the studio. If they had waited until the summer the studio would have no reason to agree to their terms.

And I would like to point out that the WGA did attempt to compromise. The studio claimed that the WGA wanting 4% more on DVDs is what was preventing a deal. The WGA took it off their list of wants and yet the studio still wouldn't agree to their terms.

I SUPPORT THE WRITERS
