Got Heroes > Heroes: Episode Discussion > Volume Two: Generations > Chapter 07 - "Out of Time"

A week ago, I posted this topic: http://www.got-heroes.com/-will-probably-d...sode-t4997.html

And I just watched the episode a while back...sorry, I just had to comment. That's one of the worst ways to write off a character...LOL. I mean, from a story's stand point. Imagine. You're just tagging along someone with powers and you time travelled to a future where a virus runs prevalent. Now, you're gonna get deported back to your own country, but it's a year into the future and you're going to run out of options to go back (Since Peter is dead. Hiro's condition isn't stated, but I'm guessing anyone, with or without powers is in peril) because it's unlikely she'll ever meet someone who can time travel.

And the writers don't seem keen on producing another future episode...at least, not for now. smile.gif)

Roffle, when I was watching that... it reminded me of Children of Men *chuckles to self*

sucks for her

Although I didnt liked Caitlin... But to write her off that way was kinda cruel tongue.gif
draftrnpitt
I was thinking the same thing. Her brother gets welded and then Peter time travels her 1 year into the future and then leaves her in a nightmare. It's like she was in a coma for a year and can never get that year back.
qinrawks
BYE CAITLIN.
I won't miss you.

Ha ha ha. Does that mean caitlin fast forwarded her life to the future? (since she got stuck in the future) so she wasted a year of her life. Poor girl.
beanbagofdoom
Is She acauly removed from the series??

Not exactly. She didn't grew a year older so nothin's wasted. She's just brought at the wrong time and at the wrong place. I pity her.

Now here's a more interesting question; assuming that they manage to change the past, erasing that particular future, what would happen to Caitlin? Does that mean she ceases to exist?
GeneZ
^yeah. since that future will not exist, peter then teleported her to a future that doesnt exist. she does not exist anymore! wahahaha

Nah, she'll probably just see the future change in front of her. Afterwards, she'll find future Pete and kick the crap out of him
AriaKit
So much negativity to Caitlin. I liked her and I really hope that she hasn't been written out. Especially as the future will change. Does that means she'll never exist?
Irvie
That's one thing I don't like about how this time-traveling business.
Is too confusing, paradoxes, and everything. DX
Higgins
It doesn't really matter since I'm sure that future will be changed. That's pretty paradoxical though: her being teleported into a future that never happened. Where would she end up? Whatever the case, I'm sure she'll be fine.

Ah, didn't see this post.

My girlfriend absolutely loves her totally fake accent. I say "loves" because she's yet to see the episode yet, so she has no idea about her fate quite yet. Isn't that sad and depressing?

Seriously, though, I had to wonder about the seeming paradox as well. I wouldn't be surprised if she was somehow brought back into the series through our good friend Nakamura Hiro. It would seem to me that either a present-day Hiro or a grim-future Hiro could draw her out of a "soon-to-collapse" timeline, but as you said, starwarsgeek, I think she will simply see the future change before her eyes.

If, that is, they show her anytime else in the series.
peter88
Certainly that isn't a nice way to end a character's role IMO. Peter will prob go to the future to get her back or something I guess. Maybe when it all ends, Peter is going to find some way to bring her back. The producers will come up with something unexpected.

QUOTE(Kaylen @ Nov 7 2007, 01:31 AM) *
I think the virus takes away their abilities, right? So if Peter got the virus (like he obviously did in the future), his powers would go away and he would die.

But claire would be the kay to curing this virus, ofcourse Peter's copying claire's ability might be a little different, but maybe not.

I think Caitlin will be back, if it's only for some alternative future or some memories being re-called, just like DL is now in a couple of episodes.
-sparky-

Heres a thought...

In the alternative future Caitlin may have survived the virus
and lives in ireland...

The alternative time-travelling-with-Peter Caitlin gets deported
back to Ireland and ends up meeting herself, her having survived
the virus...

At least then she'll have someone who speaks the same weird
accent as her to talk to!!
comatose
i like her. and it sucks to finish off a character like that. imagine molly being trapped inside the nightmare and somehow she's gone. wouldn't it be a sad thing too? that is more evil than sylar and adam combined doing that to poor caitlin. ):
Triton
I think of it as lifting a huge burden off Peter's mind, so now he can get back to kicking real a-ss wink.gif
Ryan777
I was like "darn that sucks" you lost your brother, then you get trapped in the future. But I have to admit with Caitlin around, Peters story didn't develop that much.
comatose
but its sad for peter. he lost simone in season 1 and now caitlin. maybe he was destined to be alone.

Peter isnt dead... they only thought he was dead. Nathan, and his mother. He was actually not dead as we have been watching...

No, I meant in the future. People only assumed Peter was still alive in the future because he was only declared dead in the present time. For all we know, Peter could have contracted the virus and died, since the Virus seemingly prevents the heroes from using their abilities and once Peter has it, there's no way for him to access Claire's regen powers.
One_Hiro
Just a thought...

I think that the rapid cell regeneration is a unique ability, so unique that it could make you immune to the Shanti virus. Just for the simple fact that it constantly healing the white and red blood cells, so it would be d*** near impossible for the Shanti virus to break thru. Because tho the Shanti virus stops you from using your ability, it's a stage, so it dosen't happen instantly it takes time before the virus effects your ability.

Which means that in the future that Peter would be alive but just not to anyones knowledge, considering that 93.7% of the worlds population is dead. Angela Petrelli was still alive in the future, but even she was suprised to see that Peter was alive, which could only mean that she truly believes that Peter is dead, even in the current timeline.

Which could only lead me to this; Season 3 Peter will go back to the future to bring Catlin back to the present. But while in the future he will discover yet another plot that could lead to some type of doomsday on earth.

Most things in Heroes aren't too hard to guess, your just have to pay attention to the writers style of story telling. So far S1 and S2 are telling storys the exact same way, only with a few twist and turns here and there.

We'll see in the future. It's hard to make assumptions when we're dealing with stuff like this. So far, Bob told us in the last episode that Claire's powers could probably reverse the effects of the virus. However, in the future, a lot of heroes died as well. From this, we could speculate that the virus mutated so badly that even Claire's powers can't stop it BUT there's a chance that Adam is having a hand as to why so many people have died. It could be that the regeneration powers he and Claire have are the only cure to the Shanti virus, but he either kills or captures Claire, and is, in turn, "hoarding" all the medicine so that the world suffers.

so that's wat happens when you date mysterious men you just met with time trvaelling, lighting, telekinesis, healing powers!

Ha ha ha... poor Caitlyn. (but stay in Ireland!)
kincaid
does anyone else think that Adam is gonna be the hero of the whole series?? the virus seems to wipe out every1, heroes included, but Adam is meant to be immortal, so therefore would not contract this virus. he is the saviour of everyone, and I think its gonna be Hiro who convinces him, makes him live up to the old legend etc, even though hiro was Kensei in the past :S

anyways, Adam (or Peter now that he's had contact with Adam, and is now immortal himself) will play the major Hero.

But, before an antidote is provided, Peter will go back to the future, knowing full well he cant contract the virus, to find Caitlin... who has already died of it biggrin.gif now that would be something, because it would spurn him to go back to the present, give the antidote, or pressure Adam into giving an antidote, and save the woman he loves.

Just a theory.... biggrin.gif
villainous
i hope she gets the f*cking virus and keels over dies in that pseudo country they call ireland, woooohoooo i hope she never comes back, i think the writers started slacking off along time before the strike. She was just filler while they went on with the other heroes story lines, they should not have mentioned what happend to peter till maybe ep. 5/6.
mitchyboi
thats the stupidest post ive ever read noob, ireland's an awesome country and i think that the way she was abruptly lost in the future means that she might be back sooner or lately neway.

No she won't. Because, in order to meet future self, that would mean she eventually travels back in time so that she can eventually meet her past self when she travels into the future. If you don't understand that, too bad because time travel's a b****. tongue.gif
