Well, let's discuss this episode, shall we?

OMG! Who was expected NATHAN to be Claire's father?! That was definitely a throw out of left park!

So? what are people's thoughts on the episode?

I think most of the momentum the show had built during the first half of the season is gone. Nathan is Claire's father? Feels like total lack of imagination and a definite jump the shark moment for me. The damn Nikki/Jessica thing is getting annoying to me now and the Peter/invisible guy stuff feels unnecesary, I mean couldn't Peter just learn how to control his power on his own like everyone else? The best thing about the show are Hiro and Ando. Sylar keeps the show interesting also, he's a cool villain. I hope the show gets better cuz I have been dissapointed since it's return.

That Claire's father is Nathan

Yeah. Claire's father is Nathan, who will most likely, but unwillingly, will acknowledge that Claire is his daughter, but will still be in denial about it!

I can't wait to see him having to explain to his immobile wife what happened!

I can just imagine her asking: "Why didn't you ever tell me about this!?"

And Nathan replying: "Well, I didn't even know about it (remember) until she called me! I thought they both died!"

He obviously already knew about Claire and the way her mum said 'she's alive' he'd heard that she'd died. I wonder what happened between them. That's going to be an interesting back story. I kinda already knew that it'd be Nathan. Obviously there were other possibilities but he was the most likely.

It shines a whole new light on "Save the Cheerleader, Save the World". I don't know how but it dows somehow and we'll just have to wait and see. And since Peter is Claire's Uncle, and Uncle Pete saved her life, its all in the family. so maybe that phrase "Save the Cheerleader, Save the World" has something to do with the Petrelli Family. I don't know but there are gonna be some interesting plot twists.

I agree. Nathan had to have known about Claire. He also obviously knew about the explosion and fire that supposedly killed both Meredith and Claire. She may not have originally been named Claire, though.

From the newspaper article and Meredith's statements on the phone, I'd say they were never married, though.

The upcoming episode descriptions for Nathan's character have MUCH more meaning now!

Okay...I cannot believe Nathan is Claire's father. Holy crap. How does this change things? I mean He's her father. Where will they take this? Answers anyone?

I wondering something though...how did Meredith get Nathan's number? Maybe Nathan had to run away and wasn't just being promiscuous. And maybe he planned on going to New York so he gave her a number to contact him? *ponders* but I would imagine he would change his numbers quite a bit over the years.

Well if i am not mistaken the mother told Claire " that looking down at the roof i didn't think anyone could make it though that" meaning Nathan had to have flown her out of the house. I think the relationship went south after they lost their child.

well, if anything, it places clair in NY for the explosion... otherwise theres no real reason for her to be there...

Is it any wonder why the writers etc. denied so heavily that Peter and Claire would get together. They're related....so wrong

Good thing though - we hardly saw Nathan this episode. I'm glad he popped in right at the end <3

Yay for Nathan getting a whole new storyline. It'll be great when they do eventually meet again.

Nathan's a public figure, given that he's running for Congress...I'm sure his number isn't hard to come by.

I'm still not keen on Nathan being Claire's biological father.

i believe that merideth tried killing claire
since she can make fire and claire supposudly was killed in a fire
merideth and nathan thought she died because they were unaware
of claires power to rejuvinate

I actually saw a screen capture that showed the ringed hand of Claire's father. It was compared to Nathans hand from another capture, it was the same hand so I kinda knew the day B4 the episode. Apparently he's a professional "wick dipper" He's screwed 4 characters already...his wife, Claire's mom and i'm counting Nickiessica as 2...lol. Jezeez is that lawyer guy a bottom feeding slug or what? And yer average mobster type can't just get charges dropped like that...Linderman HAS to have some kind of hero power. Ok so Nikiessica is home now...now what? Poor Peter he's got no chance at Claire now and apparently no more from the Slut Simone, no wonder he's gonna explode and go nuclear! no more poonany!. LoL

I like your overall assesment, however I can tell you're not from Nevada. I've lived here for 30 years, and I will say that there are ways to work throught the system here that are not available in other jurisdictions. Depending on how seriously (how deep your pockets are) you want something done, things can be dropped quickly. Murder may be alot tougher, but if you are a gaming mogul in this state, you can do no wrong, just ask the legislature.

TV Guide: Was it always your plan to have Nathan be Claire's father?

Tim Kring: Yes, from before Day 1. When the show was just a diagram on paper, I drew strings between the various characters, a plan for how they would ultimately become connected. Though some things have since changed, I've stuck to major parts of that blueprint, and Nathan being Claire's father was a part of that.


TV Guide: The revelation is very soapy, very Dynasty.

Kring: Tried-and-true storytelling! There's a great scene coming up with Nathan's mother. She is so just out there, and it's such a strange kind of Machiavellian relationship. In the scene, [spoiler]a lot of the past is talked about and hashed out. It's a great family dynamic — the one son who's supposed to be pushed into greatness, and the younger brother who was sort of the ne'er-do-well dreamer who's going to have greatness.[/spoiler]


TV Guide: There's certainly the potential for a Kennedy-like crisis. Will this skeleton from Nathan's closet jeopardize his political quest?

Kring: That's the whole idea. [spoiler]It's the eve of the election and suddenly the secret daughter Nathan thought was dead isn't. A scandal rises up. He'll have to drop everything to go stomp out this brushfire.[/spoiler]


TV Guide: When will Claire learn her dad's identity?

Kring: [spoiler]She finds out in Episode 15 [airing Feb. 12], but it doesn't mean anything to her. They come close to having an encounter but don't. It's a really tragic, great story. That episode is terrific.[/spoiler]

Nice I can't wait for episode 15.. I'm really looking forward to when Nathan comes around. Maybe it will take him losing the election?

I dont get it why now the cheerleader's father is the guy running for congressman. Sucks, its only mixing the whole thing up...

i hope the script gets better, was better in the first 10 chaps.

I agree that I don't like them making Nathan Claire's father since it seems like too much of a soap opera plot but if the writers can turn it into a very good storyline then I'll be happy

I think that the mother didn't have a good control of her power when Claire was young and that there was a fight versus HRG and Nathan got there only on time to save her while thinking that Claire was dead.HRG saw that there was a baby still alive and took her without anyone knowing thats why he didn't want her on the list.
I think that Claire will play a key role because she might make Nathan step up to his role as a Hero and Father!!!

It willbe interesting If they make another comedy scene like what they did with Hiro on "Be-llan". Facing Jessica then Meredith with Heidi AND HAVING A COMEDIC LINE WHEN THE WHOLE SITUATION IS SERIOUS. then Jessica says "technically he's slept with 3 women counting niki"
