To those strike posts:
1. It was said in season one, that a volume is not a season ... they planed since the beginning to cut the season 2 in two volumes
2. the christmas cliffhanger was reshot, so it can work as a season cliffhanger ... I think we can expect a bigger one then just the christmas cliffhanger
3. they shot 13 episodes ... but the other two wont air until either the new seasons starts (which is next year by september or october *cries)
or if the strike ends really soon and they can go back to production so we get the rest of the season like everyone wanted ... maybe we have to wait a bit longer then expected but still it wont be 10 months
The way I understand it, the original idea was to break the season 2 in two "volumes", with other words two main stories. One about the "generations", like who is Adam Monroe, who are the people on the photos, what about the next generation (like Elle, Monica, etc.) and the other story/volume about the "virus", that, as far as I understand it, should be the main theme for the episodes after christmas.
With other words, it seemes, that there are two main topics (generations, virus) for this season and for each there was supposed to be a volume. But since the strike came inbetween and there are only 11 episodes filmed, namely the finish of generations
with "the End" of Adam Monroe and a cliffhanger concerning the virus, the producers have a problem. They don't know, when the writers are coming back to write the episodes about the virus. So they made an alternative ending, in which there isn't a cliffhanger about the virus, but a solution for the virus and another cliffhanger, with which they can start a different story (namely season 3).
So you see, after episode 11 got aired, there is only one way to get our heroes back before next fall. Only if the writers stop striking in the very next future and only if the producers decide, to sell season three as volume 2 of season 2, only then we get heroes back next spring.
And since it doesn't seem very likely, I wouldn't count on it, unfortunately.
None the less we have two great episodes ahead of us, so let's just enjoy the remaining parts of season 2.
