Claire shows West some wind chimes that she can use to call the Haitian. When did they work out this communication plan? How do they work? Can he hear that sound? Does he monitor her?

I know the scene is to show how much she is hurting, and that she would rather forget than continue in pain. But the wind chimes device seems really odd to me.

Its never been explained how they work, but in Season 1 Claire was given the chimes by The Haitian and told to hang them at the window were she to want him...

i've always found that odd, maybe he's constantly in the neighborhood? That could do with some explaining

Claire was thinking emotionally, not practically. We don't know whether or not the Hatian would have answered, but that's not important. It's a character point, not a plot point: the significance is that she was willing to have it all erased from her mind.

If you insist on treating it practically, though: in the past, Noah was around, and since the Hatian and Noah were partners, it wouldn't be that hard for the Hatian to keep an eye on her house. Now that Noah isn't there, I'm not so sure if he's kept watching to look after Claire, or moved off to help Mrs. Petrelli or the Company on some other matter.

Kind of sad to have to discuss this. It's like reading a Milton Sonnet and someone pointing out that Milton invented one of the words in it. OK, so it's not in the dictionary, but that's no reason to condemn the whole thing, nor does it detract from the beauty or power of the verse. =p

Maybe his powers have developed further, and now he can hear, and tell the difference between every wind chime in the world?

Everyone elses powers are developing (kinda ) so why not Mr Hatians?

It is also sad to have to defend this question. I'm not sure how you interpretted my point as condemning the show. Rather it is because I am such a fan that I raise the point. We often see subtle hints and seemingly minor comments support more substantive points later.

I simply I wanted to get others opinions about how the chimes work.

It's not like I'm condemning a Miltion sonnet, more like I'm saying he has such a talent with words why invent one. But I must admit that I prefer Heroes to Milton.

Maybe the chimes has something to do with his first memory or something growing up? That it helped realized his potential and whenever those chime, he has to come?

I have a theory that his powers evolved to be able to read others memories like Matt reads minds. Maybe it's a constant stream, and he has to do a kind of meditation to filter them all out. It could be a reason for him being silent all the time, and he could possibly filter out the memories to do with that certain wind chime. Like a bat signal in your memories.

The wind Chimes to call the Haitian is something that came from the first season. Claire was supposed to have her memory erased and he didn't erase it. He said that if she ever needs to call him just put the chimes in the window. That is where the wind chimes come from

But the question is: How does the haitain know claire is chiming the wind chime? his powerse must go beyond memory manipulation and blocking powers?.....ooooooooooooooo...i love him

The Hatian does have an additional power: rocking by default. Every seen he is in is immediately 100x better after his appearance, and he doesn't even have to say a word!

well could it possibly be anything to do with Mrs.Pettrelli's power ???
like the Hatian said... "your mother helped me when i was young" (or something like that)

could they still be working together and is that where he is ??

would her power help the Hatian ??
