"i know, it was unavoidable. you do know that you've now open pandora's box."

Pandora's box
–noun
a source of extensive but unforeseen troubles or problems

Pandora's box

In classical mythology, a box that Zeus gave to Pandora, the first woman, with strict instructions that she not open it. Pandora's curiosity soon got the better of her, and she opened the box. All the evils and miseries of the world flew out to afflict mankind.

Note: To “open a Pandora's box” is to create an uncontrollable situation that will cause great grief.

so what has angela kept all these while?
if she is indeed capable, why has she suppressed herself all these while?

nathan: bob said you locked him away.
angela: no, not at first. in the beginning i helped him.

so in the process of helping adam with the virus, did she actually have another strain of the virus? or something else?

I'd interpreted the statement "opening Pandora's box" to a combination of "letting the cat out of the bag" and "all hell breaking loose." I instinctively thought she was referring to the Company silencing Nathan, and therefore establishing a policy that these abilities can't get out and they'll kill anyone who tries. Or perhaps she sees it as the start of a Company / new generation of Heroes war. Peter and Matt certainly aren't going to go, "oh oops, looks like telling the world what we can do was a bad idea. Hm. Let's just head home and be quiet and forget about all of this."

Just speculation though, since Angela was watching the TV report at the same time.

I'm thinking that by killing nathan, they would be exposed still anyway because the police will be investigating tha assailant, the motives... and of course, their connections will be dug up too in the course of the investigation.
liam
yeh i think that by killing nath what his mother ment was that they have started a war between the company and everyone else as the death will lead to investigation and matt and peter will not go quietly as well
SleepingPhoenix
Finally, Peter will have someone to attack with all those super-powers of his. And he's going to be bat-sh*t crazy that they killed his brother after they just met up again. "You shot Nathan?! I KEEEELLL YOU!!" Or somethign along those lines.

Part of me wonders, however, if Angela may have been referring to something quite literal, from the vault.
qinrawks
Yeah at first I thought she was referring to the fact that they just killed Nathan on live TV, and the uncontrollable situation will be the younger generation of Heroes not letting this rest.

But then I thought about the vault. Maybe everything stored there like the virus could have devastating effects on mankind. Maybe that's why it was called the Pandora's Box.
J.U.N.C
i interpreted it as "you killed nathan now peter is gonna mess u up" thats the pandoras box
mehmet
what i found weird was that Angela wasn't really devestated (in tears when she saw nathan getting shot) could it be that she has something to do with it....or is it just cuz she knows that he can be brought to life with the blood wink.gif
dave6074
but dont forget.. we dont actually know who told Angela that Nathan was going to expose them all but by the looks of things i think she was sort of part of the death........

any thoughts ?? smile.gif
ad the hobbit
i just thought she had orchestrated the killing of her son.. maybe she is the new leader of the company, or somehow higher than bob?

if she is still part of the company then she would have been told about what was going to happen. judging by how upset she was, i think she didnt actually order him to be killed, but knew that he had to be killed for the company's greater good. kinda like a dog owner has to have their beloved pet put down if it decides to bite their kids one day

She still has access to the the Company's resources. And lets not forget that the (not very well hidden) blinking red light in the vault was a security camera, and that Nathan, Matt, and Peter were /in the vault/ being looked at by the camera (the shot thru the vent) when they decided to go public. So its pretty much assumed that the Company is responsible for killing him
comatose
yes i was wondering about the surveillance too. must have been the company that ordered his death. angela did say peter is the only person who can get into the vault. and by that it might also mean that he may be the only one who is able to take down the company. and the company just shot someone whom he loves. maybe we will see peter gone wild in season 3.

its nice if it'll be peter, matt, angela against bob, elle, mohinder. that'll be a really fine line between good and evil. but its this happens, it's gonna be one hell of a fight. i bet alot of the other heroes being in the middle. the haitian, claire, molly, hiro, maya.

and meanwhile, adam, maury and sylar are out there having fun.

i was also thinking, how come peter isnt curious of the whereabouts of caitlin. he went through all those trouble to save her but seems like he forgot his own reason.
Inze
Because it was going out live on tv the company would have been alerted by Nathan that he was going to talk about the powers and reveal everything, giving time for the company/Angela to silence him. Angela didn't seem that upset as she didn't hold back on telling Matt to kill off Peter if he was a problem.
themko
She said it might be necessary to kill Peter... she wasn't exactly jumping up and down in joy at the idea (lol Angela jumping up and down... weird image tongue.gif anyway...)

Yeah I thought she was talking about Peter too and possibly Matt and Hiro. They just seriously pissed up the younger (and from what I've seen currently more powerful) generation.
The Company is not facing good times. biggrin.gif

(Claire seems pretty gung-ho about taking them down too come to think of it.)
comatose
if the older generation were to perish, who will be leading the younger generation?

peter would be the obvious, but i'd like to think that nathan will lead the company, if he was to survive.
and i also think that the younger generation is soo much powerful than the current older generation of heroes, only that we dont really know what the powers the elders hold. but i think their powers will be much stronger, only that their high times are long gone. their legacy has to be passed down.
dave6074
it seems as though the older generation still seem to be in charge and want things to stay that way....

I wouldn't have described Adam or Maury as being 'out there'...

''Trapped'' is a more pertinent word!!
gfish
I don't see the older generation giving up without a fight and they've been at it for a lot longer than the kids, I think experience will give them a big head start if a battle royal did ensue.

"i know, it was unavoidable. you do know that you've now open pandora's box."

Angela's a bad guy. Always has been, always will be. She's crafty at pretending to care. She's very blase about her sons perishing.

She knows Peter will be on the warpath over the death of his brother (true death or not) and he is "the strongest of us all".

I'm thinking~ speculation only:

Angela and Bob manipulating Noah, West and Mohinder
VS. younger hotheads Peter, Elle, Claire, Matt

Meanwhile Syler's out there, Adam's not dead enough, new villians...

Monica and Micah cleaning up New Orleans.

And Molly's custody battle.
