Is it me or does Peter seem to pick and choose the Powers he absorbs.

Why does Peter not have the Haitians power?

Haitian disables Peter's powers, and Sylar's power might be layered on top of everything, meaning he could only absorb one power at a time, or that there was too much for him to take in.

Exactly! I think Peter has more power right now than he shows us, but he just isn't aware and he might not be...until he loses control.

If I'm right, none of the HEROES actually know about Sylar's power, so Peter doesn't either. With so many people having powers in the HEROES world, I would presume that Peter also has some powers from people he just passed on the street and stuff. Also, I would presume Peter has most of the 12's powers since it seems that Angela and Kaito take their kids to their meetings, so he would have absorbed them when he was too young to remember. Peter is not selective about which powers he absorbs because he would have purposely not absorbed Ted's power.

Not necessarily. He used Elle's power when his memory was wiped. I think that if you practice the power, you can become good at it and that's the hard way but for Peter it is better and easier to remember the person he got the power from. Also, he healed from death and you generally speaking can't think when you're dead.

Also...one other point. Didn't he get Telekinesis from Sylar? I don't think he wants to remember Sylar...that's the dude that tried to kill him. He probably gets angry thinking about it.

its not all about remembering its more about feeling and when he uses TK he gets agressive like sylar

1. When he says to isaac" dont lie to me" an then throws him across the room.
2. in lizards when he pins the irish guy against the wall he almost kills him and peter said he wanted too.
3. when choking hiro in powerless he didnt let go until matt interfered.

That's a good point, actually: I was thinking that maybe the adverse effects of having so many powers and being so empathetic is that sometimes Peter loses control and instinct and intent to kill takes over. I think the final episode might be Nathan stopping a mentally and maybe physically deformed and mutated form of Peter who has lost all his inhibitions by killing him maybe? We all know that Gabriel has turned insane and some of his insanity might be directly related to having so many powers. Also, Gabriel has to kill for the powers so maybe that adds to the crazyness.

Not necessarily. If you've got a time traveling ability and you are in an emotional state and you physically ask for knowledge of what the future holds, you're gonna be time traveling in no time. If Hiro didn't feel like this and felt another way about life in general, Pete still would have time traveled.

Quite simply I think it's because the Haitian blocked out his ability to absorb his ability, therefore, he didn't because he couldn't.

Then again, it would be interesting to see Peter have the Haitan's power. Because we know that the Haitan can allow powers to go on because of Nathan flying away that one time.

I get the basics of Pete's power and i often have to explain it to my friends but it just seems that once he's got his power down, he can use it basically but if he's using it in a massive fight and needs a power boost, he can think of the person he got the power from and that will boost his power. We've seen circumstances, like I mentioned before, where Peter has lost his memory and used powers or he never really got to know the person who gave him a power such as D.L. or Nikki. Maybe his body or subconscious remembers though.

His power is a very deep one.

I guess he need sto know the power, the owner of the power and how they made him feel.

yeah i agree totally man. I think Peter probably has more power than he is aware of. He must have absorbed some more power from Sylar such as enhanced hearing or intuitive aptitude (I think thats what its called) because those powers happen "naturally" like clair's healing power that Peter absorbed when he was dead! I think he must be aware of the power and the source before he can replicate it.

Also, im pretty sure Peter is capable of Freezing power (not sure of the proper name) because someone official had stated that when Sylar's voice changes to a deeper tone its because his temperature is dropping (an example being when he says to Issac "SHOW ME!") and Peter's voice has done the exact same thing in the scene where Issac is shooting at him and kills Simone.

Yes that is my idea; that Peter has that specific power (Cryokenesis) which, evidently, is support by what was said with regards to Sylar's voice changing tone and Peter's doing exactly the same. Are you able to comprehend this?

I'm pretty sure he wasn't. I don't know if you've seen the graphic novel but in it, he gets his power because he wants to make his mum better because she was ill. So, originally, his intentions were very sympathetic but he got deranged and stuck with the power, I guess. That said, he was the medic on the battlefield and healed everyone else but It's very surprising that he never got injured, so maybe he can but I doubt it.
