Full Version: Confusion on the aftermath
Got Heroes > Heroes: Episode Discussion > Volume Two: Generations > Chapter 08 - "Four Months Ago"

This topic actually can go anywhere, because it pertains to all of Volume 2. However, I think in this episode it is especially important.

I noticed in another topic there were general complaints about a lack of explanation on each character. Fair enough. What I'm confused about was the aftermath of the explosion. Peter gives off a nuclear explosion in the sky just miles above New York and...nothing is said about that later on? Throughout Volume 2, I don't remember it being mentioned at all. If a nuclear explosion went off above NY, you would think it'd be on every media outlet and there would be slight panic. Especially in this episode where it happens right after the explosion.

Why was it never mentioned again? Was it mentioned again (anywhere in Volume 2) and I missed it? Thanks for any answers.

it probably was all over the news
but we , as viewers of the main plot, dont get to see whats going on in the normal citizens' lives

either that, or the explosion was just dismissed as a supernova or via some such explanation tongue.gif
and then theres the haitan.. since many of the heroes' powers evolve (just like the sharingan evolves into a mangekyou sharingan, or matt parker's simple mind reading technique turns into hypnosis/pursusaion technique) maybe the HATIAN has evolved his own power to the extent that he can 'mass-erase' people's memories.. on national scale.. but i highly doubt that one haha tongue.gif

basically theres a whole host of viable possibilites

lol @ matt parker. smile.gif)
didnt bob say something to nikki about that? i forgot what hahahah
dot
oops, haha
shoudve read 'matt parkMAN'
calling it a "evolution", "second level", whats the difference? biggrin.gif
dot
lol what's the point of that. theres already three of them: matt, maury, and peter
it would just be boring if anyone else had it too
dot
no. if everybody could read everybody's mind, there'd be no point or fun to it
it would just become the new method of 'talking' ohmy.gif
dot
you did say that kring should introduce 'thousands' of them
compared to the 14 or so main characters now present in the show, that is effectively 'everybody' tongue.gif
dot
wow.. that sounds like a strategy game i once played..
called age of mythology hahaha. i had my priests healing all the giants and whatnot, and in the back lines research buildings were deployed to advance ages etc.

btw by 'everyone', the entire series' main characters were being referred to.
since the entire 6 billion or whatever many people don't actually star IN THE SHOW they are not the 'POPULATION' i.e. they are not part of what the term 'everyone' pertains to

you have a nice and well-intending idea, but whether it would actually work out on the big screen (would the producers even have the dollar$ to make scenes containing thousands of actors?? hell no lol; this isn't some peter jackson massive-budget production)

and whether the viewers would buy an idea like that, i doubt it very much. because then the whole tagline of the show gets destroyed: 'ordinary individuals with extraordinary powers' turns into 'everyone with extraordinary powers'. it takes away what the show is about tongue.gif
and it would just basically turn into another LOTR type war movie.. generating reaction along the lines of "boring , UNORIGINAL!! , been there seen that" etc etc. it wouldnt work at all.
dot
if thousands of telepathists were 'introduced' into the show and we didnt get to even see them, it would be somewhat boring .. whats the point of that rolleyes.gif it would be a disgrace on behalf of the production team
dot
you said that kring should introduce thousands of telepathists
but then you said it wouldnt be possible to show them all because all the characters on heroes have different powers
sorry that was my interpretaiton.. lol
so i think that i would be kind of boring to have thousands of telepathists and not see them as individual characters each with their own tale to be told
if they are just citizens part of the wider universe, it becomes boring. army-like. basically we have another LOTR /Attack of the Clones style battle.
'special' power becomes not so special anymore
thats why, it would not be a good idea - the viewers would not buy it

When was it said the Company silenced the media on this matter? I don't remember that at all.

Not to mention, how is it possible they silenced everybody in the city? Thousands, possibly more, had to have noted that explosion. Not to mention, satellites and the like...
