Who do you think is the greatest of the villains in Heroes out of Sylar, Adam, Linderman or Maury? Personally, I think that Adam is the greatest because Sylar's too much of a stereotypical "I'm totally evil" baddie. Adam, however, you can sort of see why the poor guy went all crazy after having his heart broken. Since Maury's only been in two episodes I think it's too early to tell what's he's exactly like, and as for Linderman, well, he just didn't seem menacing at all to me. A waste of Malcolm McDowell's great acting talent.
What about you guys?

I think Sylar gained a bit of depth with the episode in which he visits (and kils...) his mother. Before that, he was merely evil, but I still thought he was extremely well done, since he was really, really creepy all round. When the "mother" scenes started, I wasn't sure what to think of it, since I thought it might destroy certain creepiness attributes of the character, but now I think it just helped to round him off.
I'll still agree with you that Adam is really interesting as a villain. He's not evil by nature, and I can also see how witnessing a few hundred years of world history will result in a very pessimistic and sarcastic view of the world. I believe he'll get out of his coffin at the beginning of the next season, and it'll be cool to see what havoc he'll wreak. I really liked the actor in "Alias" too, seems that he plays a similar type here after all, even if it didn't look like that at first.
I hope Maury's taken care of... I liked Linderman, as the type of sophisticated villain that truly sees himself as a benefactor.

Definitely Sylar. He's got the most understandable motives, and he conjured the most sympathy while still managing to be totally despicable. But because of that sympathy, I see him as more likely to transcend the villain role somehow. As far as straight-up baddies go then, Linderman takes the cake. Mostly because it's Malcolm McFreakingDowell.

Sylar. Duh. He's just heartless. I mean, if it's a little kid, he would kill him or her to get his or her power. All he desires is power. And to get that power, he kills. He's killed enough people already and I would feel too guilty about that by now. He's plain evil.

I think that Linderman is the greatest of the villains in Heroes.
