i love his power biggrin.gif

i wish i could absorb people's powers
melody
yes, absorb good powers that dont hurt mankind. i hope that he's not absorbing the bomb. i heard some random heroes fan say that was his theory. thats a great power though, especially when he needed claire's lol
Jester77
Peter seems to be the Hero who will become the most important, especially this season
melody
i think he already is the most important
studly stud
if their had to be a main character it would b him maybe each season the story will be mostly steered to one person and a different person every season

I thought that myself and I would like if they did that just because I don't think this show should ever revolve around just one character
melody
yea i like that approach
Tazorak
It'll be interesting to see what Peter does when he can control all the powers he's absorbed.
FallAway
At first I thought maybe Peter was the main character but then I mean you can't forget the term "save the cheerleader" or look past Monhinder being the first voice you hear when the show starts. Peter is maybe one of the biggest charaacters but I firmly believe their is no "main".

That's one thing that I like about the show, that even though there is a large cast every character is equally important

about peter's power he can absorb abilitys but can he retain them? if he can't then his powers might develop into something like that eventually because then he could have teddys claudes and claires power and fry like anybody cause an invisible almost indestructible nuclear man would be tough to beat.

Yes, Peter does retain all of the powers that he absorbs but right now he doesn't know how to access them again on command but only when he's around the hero. That will be one of the things that Claude teaches him. How to access them on command.

Think of it as the same way that our brain absorbs and remembers much more about the world around us than what we realize it does. Like when a person can be hypnotized and they will "remember" details about witnessing a crime, an accident or what ever. Also people can be taught to remember things better by association. By associating specific information or ideas with pictures or key words. The example that comes to mind is one that was used to be shown on TV in an ad for some memory enhancement program. They said to remember that the capital of Arkansas was Little Rock is to picture yourself sawing a small rock. The brain is like a library with its own filing system. The reason we can't recall specific information exactly the minute that we want to is that we forget how the original information was "filed". If you have ever had the time when you say, "Its on the tip of my tongue" or "I know that I know the answer to that." We just have filed it away the information without referencing it in a way that we have instant recall. I understand that ordinary people really can be taught to do this type of filing and with practice can to it quickly. Quickly enough that say for instance you are at a business meeting and are introduced to say a 100 people in the room. You can during the process of being introduced, remember their name, where they are from and any amount of other important information that you wish to remember about them using these techniques. Now mind you, I didn't say I could do this but I have know people that could.

This is how I visualize that Peter's absorbed powers are. He just doesn't know how to access them as of yet.
How to turn them on and off and maintain control.

Yea he is definitly the most important. He has the best power too. Its also really cool that he can keep the powers he obsorbs, like when the invisible guy pushed him off the roof, he used claires power to stay alive. He is definitly the best.
ilovepeter
Do you think Peter will start to show powers from people he had contact with that have died? Eden, for instance? He met her before she died. There could be some great stories springing out of him manipulating people with his voice as she was able to do. And Sylar. I know he's still alive, but he has powers we haven't even seen yet and Peter had contact with him which is why he finally showed some telekinetic abilities. OMG, I can't wait to see what kind of stuff is going to be happening in the episodes to come!!!!!!

peter has this power im guessing he got from sylar. he yelled at issac and issac went flying. He has some super yelling power. coool.

Even though I've been having a love/hate relationship with Peter and his storyline, I actually enjoyed it tonight! When I saw him TK that bullet, I was thinking 'man, he must have a shitload of powers!'. Does this mean that Sylar did kill Eden after all? I know people have said that he actually might have since his voice got all echoey in Distractions, but Peter's voice in this episode might further back it up. Darn, there goes my "if the person's not broken then there's nothing to fix" theory for Sylar dry.gif

if you remember when peter was first interogating nathan about the two of them flying and he was trying to get nathan to admit the truth he started yelling at nathan saying "quit lying" as he was walking off the ledge five feet above the ground. that was the first time he really knew that he had any power for sure. maybe the yelling gives his power a boost.

the way I remember it, sylar was about to take eden's power so she shot herself in the head to prevent it. she was handing over the gun and trying to tell him to kill himself but for some reason her words weren't affecting him. then he broke the glass and she pointed the gun toward him and he said "you know that can't do anything to me" (probably because his telekinesis can stop the bullets) so she pointed the gun at her head and shot herself.

Peter was aweome in this eppy. But I don't think he had Eden's abilities. He never really met her face to face, nor did she use her abilities on or anywhere near him. I think the voice thing was just a side-effect from all of the power he was using and all the hate he was feeling.
Jester77
Man Peter was beyong amazing, I absolutely loved seeing him finally use all his powers

but he did meet eden face to face when peter first went to suresh's apartment after mohinder sought out nathan and then guy's at the petrelli campaign gave him the address. peter told mohinder about his flying experience and mohinder seemed skeptical but eden was there encouraging mohinder saying "don't you want to follow the smoke and see if it leads to fire." As eden was getting ready to leave the apartment she said to peter "good luck with the whole flying thing" and shook peter's hand.

It's true, Peter does have Eden's power I completely forgot that they met, it'll be great to see him use it

What about the "SCAR" that Hiro told him about on the subway train? Remember when Hiro came from the future and told him to save the cheerleader? He said "You look different without the scar". I think he will get a scar from that sword that Hiro is going to get from Linderman.

I was saying that it would be awesome for peter to manipulate people with eden's power...that could be a key in all of this before it's all over cause he's the only one who has that power as sylar never acquired it. i actually don't recall seeing sylar move anything with his voice, just by telekinesis. he has usually been quiet around his prey.

while thinking about tonights episode i relized how alike the stories of darth vadar and peter are...

peter's mentor abandons him.....
peter's loved one is killed because of him (well she was)

thats all i got now, anyone wanna add anything?

Ah yes, I forgot about that. But I still don't think he got her power. From the looks of things, I don't think Peter can use someone's ability until it's directly used around him or is used on him. I mean Sylar had Charlie's memory ability and many other abilities, but I don't see Peter exhibiting those abilities when he thinks of Sylar. I just think the ability has to be actively on or used on him for him to absorb it.
Jester77
Well I don't really think so, Anakin was sort of blinded in his quest to protect someone he loved and then went a little power crazy. On second thought maybe you're on to something there

That's true Peter is the only one with Eden's power now and Sylar doesn't have it and he was very quiet especially around Dale (kudos to him for using his levitation so that she couldn't hear his footsteps)

Well Peter was never actually around Claire when she healed herself and yet he can still use her power so I think that he can use all the powers that Sylar has collected

Well that's part of what I meant when I said a power that was "actively on", I was talking about Claire. She can't exactly turn her power on or off, so that's why I think Peter automatically just used it and absorbed it when she walked up to his body.

Well the cast and writers of the show are always saying how the fans delve too deeply into things and I sort of think this is one of those things, I don't think it has to be active or not I think that Peter can just absorb the powers of people who have them just by being close enough. Then again I could always be wrong
Fox Mulder
I forgot about Eden having been in contact with Peter... I'm definitely sure he'll use it at some point.
Well, I really do think though that as a "sponge" as he's been called, these powers do deplete while being used... and need recharging by coming into proximity with the other heroes. So Eden's power might still be used, but for how long will it exist in the storyline... who knows.
Not sure on Sylar's other powers. I mean, the doctor who was studying him while he was contained said that they had only been able to spot the telekinesis, so maybe he has to pull those other powers out much like Peter does... switching to another ability. If this was the case, Peter might not be able to mimic it until he "switched" over. However with his Super-Hearing now, it doesn't seem like he's much able to turn that off, so I'm sure this theory has no merit to it whatsoever. Oh well.

YEAH SOME ANSWERS NEXT WEEK!!!

THIS WAS SUCH A POWERFUL EPI!!! I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT FROM BEGINING TO END! LOL! laugh.gif
Supergirl
Peter was excellent in this episode and I think with what we have seen, Peter could have picked up powers from people just by walking down the street. I am sure there is a way for him to tap into what he has picked up, like with the telekinesis from Sylar.

And btw Sylar def did not get Edens powers, when his voice was funny in 1.14 it was just a slow motion part.
xiaohuang
For what i can say is Peter's ability is far more powerful then waht we can imagine.
This is just my theory, i could be wrong. Actually Peter not only can mimic others power but maybe he can COMBIND them and become a new power. I just wonder how Peter is going to save dying Simone????
could it be posible????

Just like I said in another THREAD...

"The universe has it's way of 'course correcting' itself..."

Simone was MEANT to die! If Peter went back in time to have saved her, she would've been hit by a car the next day, if Peter saved her from the car, she would've fallen and broke her neck the next day! IT REPEATS ON AND ON! UNTIL THAT PERSON (being Simone) IS DEAD! It is DESTINY!

Maybe Peter cant get powers that way

I mean will return with that in a sec

first of I agree with the people who said Sylar dosent have Edens powers as she shot herself in order to prevent it, and the yelling that Peter did when he pushed Issac was just the heat of the moment what he really used was Sylars´s Telekinesis, that being said lets return to peters powers

Remember after the invisible guy throw Peter of the building? after, he discovered the key to unlocking his powers was to think of the person and his/her power, allas he remembered Claire and he was able to survive but maybe if he hasent seen the power itself it dosent matter if he has met the person, Eden for example he met her but never know or saw she had a power, maybe even te knoledge of the existence of a power is enugh, take for example Issac he never saw him paint the future but Issac told him he could, with that knowledge and having being near Issac Peter could use his power without the knowledge that Eden could manipulate people with her voice Peter could not used that power

But its a theory after all, What you think ?? tongue.gif

PS great episode this last one but whats up with Stan Lee in the bus jejeje he always does that tongue.gif
TelekineticRenegade
This is true, but I think (hope) Peter will learn to control it better and not let the powers consume him, like what happened to Anakin. Maybe he'll do the opposite of what everyone expects and instead of going off the deep end because she's dead, he will realize he needs to control his powers better or else people are going to get hurt. Or something like that.

Thats a good point.. he didn't know Eden has a power, however.. he deffinatly wasn't trying to use the TK and wasn't thinking of Sylar but that still came out.. he was just as suprised as invisible man. And he must of used Sylar's levitation to come into Isaacs apartment, because he didnt come through the door.
DCSimian
Lol, Stan "The Man" Lee on the bus was great tongue.gif

Peter was incredible in this episode. Showed really great control over his various abilities and definetly showed a darker edge. Very cool and it was a little scary at the same time! I have a feeling that Peter can only absorb abilities that are active or in use. All of the abilities he displayed last night are from people that have actively used their gifts in his presence or nearby. He probably acquired Isaac's ability while he and Mohinder were waiting outside his door while Isaac was in his precog phase. Claire's ability seems to be always on so he absorbed that as soon as they met. I doubt he has Eden's ability as she never used the ability in his vicinity. He may have only acquired telekinesis from Sylar as that was the only clear ability that he used during their first encounter. I doubt he has Sylar's 'power analysis' thing, unless it's always on. Probably has Hiro's powers as well as telepathy from Matt.

I think the voice change was just from when he used Sylar's telekinesis. Sylar does the whole voice modulation thing too. It may just be for added affect.
Vego
Not really comparable in my own opinion. Darth was already way past the line when he his loved one died, not only that but he was the knowing cause of her death. Not only was the incident in Heroes a mistake, Peter instantly began to morn the loss of his love one rather than showing any immediate intentions of striking Isaac down in vengeance.

I think this is more to do with Peter turning seriously badass, starting to track down the organisation that’s stalking him rather than turning to the dark side.

OMG, I can't wait to see what kind of stuff is going to be happening in the episodes to come!!!!!!

In yesterday's episode we saw Peter exhitit at least three and possible four powers that he has empathyized from others: flying from Nathan, invisibility from Claude, telekanesis from Sylar and possibly power of suggestion from Eden when he told Isaac, "Quit lying" afterwhich Isaac told Peter the truth.

At the time that he first tangled with Sylar, Sylar had acquired the following powers that we know for sure: telekanesis from Brian Davis, super memory from Charlie, freezing from Mr. Walker. We were told that from his MO, there were at least nine persons that had been killed. That is a lot of other powers that we aren't sure what Sylar got from these unknown heroes. One could have been this super sensitivity to other heroes presence....we saw that one early on with Charlie and Claire and in the online novel. Sylar has this super sensitivity to know, to feel when another hero was around he just couldn't always tell who it was ie picking up that Claire was around but not knowing that it wasn't Jackie.

So I think we can be sure that Peter got this power too...which may help explain how he was able to find Claude by being drawn toward him and then when close enough he was able to get the invisibility from Claude and therefore able to see Claude.

Also, let's not forget that Sylar originally had the ability to "understand how things work". When Chander Surresh tested Sylar, it did not show up as a reconizable DNA change or mutation so I'm not sure if Peter would be able to receive this or not. We will have to watch for signs that Peter is able to do this. Once, when Peter suddenly realizes that to "think of" or "remember" another hero was what enabled him to turn on that power that this might have been this power received from Sylar kicking in or maybe it was just his own intelect recognizing the empathy connection.

These latest powers that Sylar has obtained: melting metals and super hearing and any others he gets in the future. Peter won't get those until he meets up with Sylar again.

So as far as other powers received directly from other heroes: reading other's thoughts from Matt (as seen from the interview at the police station), prophetic dreams from Charles Deveaux, prophetic painting or drawing from Isaac (as seen from hospital and Isaac's studio), ability to stop time and control time/space continumum (as seen in subway with future Hiro), indestructability (super healing) from Claire (as seen from Homecoming tangle with Sylar when Claire came back for him and landing on cab). So have I missed any?

Are we certain that Samone had no power? Do we know that Peter got his dreams from Charles Deveaux? If Charles had a power, can we be so certain that Samone had none? We are not sure about Peter's father, if he had a power or not nor do we have any idea about his mother. Can anyone answer a question? Does Nathan have two sons? I thought that something was said early on to make me think that he did have but I don't remember now for sure. If he does, wonder what they might have, if anything?

Samone was shown in Peter's dream about the destruction of New York. Maybe she was suppose to die at that time. I recently read an interview where the writers said that one hero would die six weeks before that person was suppose to die because of some contract difficulities. Sounds like that may have been Samone. They may have created this dying scene for her after the dream sequence had already been filmed.

Simone most definetly did not have a power, rest assured on that. It'll be interesting to have Peter display the powers that he received from Sylar but that we have not seen yet. Also Peter does have the ability freeze things like Sylar did in the graphic novel and in episode two.

When I was reading the spoiler about someone dying in episode 16, i read an interview where some one said that the possiblities are endless and something about it not neccesarily the end of the character either, that they could be brought back to life by reversing time.
So when Simone died her hand fell open with the key that Isaac made her keep, and peter saw the key and looked at Isaac. So my theory is peter may go back in time and try to save her by telling her not to take the key, but won't be able to because of destiny. But who knows he might be able to.

Ah that could very well be the case especially since Peter can use Hiro's power and not only Hiro's power but the power that future Hiro has. However if Peter can go back in time he probably won't be able to save Simone just like Hiro wasn't able to save Charlie
