This is probably another dense moment for me but since when is Matt a human lie detector? When ever we hear him say "He/she's telling the truth!" we never hear the thoughts of the person he's trying to read. Honestly, how can he tell? He did it with Peter in "Fallout" and now he did it with HRG. I guess it just comes with his mind reading ability?

It's probably because most people don't think in lies. Unless they know that he can read their minds, they're going to think the truth. Chock it up to human nature.

Matt can proably just hear little random thoughts that tell him whether a person is telling the truth or not. I mean, when you lie, aren't you thinking in your head "Omg, I hope they don't find out the truth," or "Please let me get away with it," or "Damn, I just got away with it," ? Little comments like those normally signal whether a person is lying or not.

now he's all hooked up to lab machines. I wonder what they are gonna do to him...

Yeah that's definetly it, unless you're Mr. Bennet and you know before hand and then you can think in Japanese (which was a brilliant little scene)

Makes it sound like a quick job but both Claude and the Haitian worked for the company for years before they actually left or were forced to leave

he can act as a lie detector however im sure some ppl would be able to lie even to him
